Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I am so happy I stayed here for my skiing trip in Furano. The staff were so friendly and attentive and the hostel was very clean and well-thought out.

I stayed in a women’s dorm. There were 20 beds but only about 3-5 of them were occupied at any one time - I guess end of January is off season?? The beds are comfortable and spacious, with duvet and sheets. There are hangers and lockers and privacy curtains. The bathroom is clean and the showers are great! So hot with good pressure!

There is a large lounge/kitchen area which is good to meet people. The hostel itself also puts on various cultural exchange events which is a nice touch.

The only disadvantage for me personally was the location. It’s near the station which is good, and it’s in town which is nice for amenities (groceries, bakeries, shops). However because I was mainly skiing, I needed to take a short bus ride to the slopes. Because Furano isn’t as touristy (yet?) the bus doesn’t run very frequently - there’s one at 8 and the next one isn’t until 11. It’s a similar situation for the bus back. It does mean that you tend to miss out on any ‘apres ski’ stuff as that tends to happen by the mountain, rather than in town. A taxi is an alternative which is an ok option at around ¥1000. Still cheaper than staying in a hotel by the slopes so it’s ok for me!

This hostel is totally worth it! I would definitely stay here again. I’d love to come back in the summer for hiking as well

This hostel is really value for money if you plan to sleep in Furano. The location is near the JR train station so it's very easy to get here.

The service staff can speak English and they are extremely friendly.

Excellent and very professional little hostel! Brilliantly quiet, superbly friendly and helpful staff, and large but quiet dormitories. Bathrooms are super clean and well appointed. Lounge area is quiet and accommodating. Kitchen is immaculate and well-sized. Parking costs extra, and is across the road. 10/10 would recommend, and I will definitely be back!

When I went to Furano during the Obon holiday, there were many inns with high accommodation fees, probably due to the Obon holiday, so I stayed in a hostel room at Hostel Tomar. It is a new and clean hostel, and it is conveniently located near Furano Station. However, it is inconvenient that there is no convenience store nearby and you need a key to enter the hostel room. There are separate hostel rooms for women only and unisex, and you have to unlock a heavy door to enter each room. It is a good system in terms of safety, but you can't forget your key to go to the toilet or washroom, and you have to be careful not to make a loud noise when returning to your room late at night. Also, the bunk beds in the room are quite large, and it is very difficult to get up and down from the top bunk bed. If I stay here again, I will choose a private room.
