Detailed Reviews
This hotel has clearly seen better days and has not been at all well maintained. The staff tried hard but have very little English. Our room was on the seaward side of the hotel, which was nice, but it was also the highway side of the hotel, which was noisy even with the window closed. The standard rooms are very small and totally uninviting. The hotel has long dark hallways with motion activated lights sometimes coming on as you walk along them.
The restaurant has great views over the Black Sea and we were lucky enough to see a pod of endangered Black Sea dolphins while having breakfast. The meal itself was pretty ordinary.
The highlight of our stay was the chance to visit and shop in the local markets which were great.
Overall, OK for a quick one night stay but that is all.

Grand cavusoglu is a very nice hotel located in Cayeli, a small town 18 km south of Rize. I agree with the previous review: this is the best place to stay in Rize. It could seem far and difficult to reach, but if you need a 3-4 star hotel for a business travel there are no other accommodation with the same standard inside the city.
You can eventually opt for Dedeman (I saw the reception, the bar and the small private beach and it's nice...) but it is located 5-6 km north of Rize and there are no towns there, so you'll always have to take a taxi to go to Rize, while in Cayeli there are thousands of white private mini buses and blue (maybe public?) buses that will take you to Rize in 30-35 minutes for the small amount of 3 Turkish Lira.
There are no buses at night, this is what local people told me, but I didn't check. Don't worry about English at Grand Cavusoglu, nobody speaks English in all Rize, so try to learn some Turkish or find alternative ways to communicate!
Rooms are nice and very clean. I would put shutters or blinds, since with the 2 white curtains the light was entering the room and woke me up on the first day. The garden and the Ottoman wooden house are amazing, while the gym is small and with old equipment. Dinner and breakfast were good as well. Really enjoyed my stay in Cayeli (very nice town by the way) and Rize. Inshallah I'll come back!

This is the best hotel to stay around that place. It is clean and safe. The staff is very kind and helpful. The price is also ok. They have a lot of rooms which you can have a view of Black Sea. They also have free parking area if you have a car. You can also access to local transport very easily.

I've stayed in this hotel many time's over the years. I worked out of CBI mine site as a contractor. Hotel is a 10 min walk to Cayeli center. It's just off the main highway, good location. Management are kind and considerate. Yes, the English here is limited. But in all cases I experienced with the staff they will call someone who had a better handle of english and sort out any issues at hand, very helpful. The menu in restauraunt is done in both English and Turkish so not sure what the issue other reviewer's had in ordering food. Point your finger at the english translation! I found the food to be done very well for a buffet style. Breakfast has lots of chocies and typical turkish cuisine. Service by the restauraunt staff is quick and always with a smile. Very busy hotel in the summer, lots of bus tours. Great outdoor space to sit and drink çay and relax. The rooms are clean and spacious. Close the window if you dont like the sound of the traffic. I prefered to leave window open for the tranquility of the sea and fresh air. FENNERBACHE is #1. Büyük iş kadar tutun. Şimdilik hoşçakalın dostlarım için! Yaşam için büyük arkadaşlar.
Yakında otelde kalmak için umut.

Rooms are clean but that is the only positive. They never have anything on the menu that you ask for, no understanding of service levels and cannot speak any English.
Walls are so thin you can hear the person next door talking on their phone.
I would not go back in a hurry.

I used to provide consultancy to CBI and stayed at the hotel in every CBI visit since 2011. I agree almost all the reviews. The rooms are varying and the quality of bathroom supplies are not good. If there are no wedding or celebration you can have your breakfast on the roof with fantastic black sea view and good food. The breakfast served in the garden or downstairs is also ok but no view at all.

Hotel is very clean. Offers sea view rooms. Personnel is very kind and helpful.
Breakfast was the highlight with mushroom omelette etc. Located on the shore road in Cayeli. Suitable for families. Arrange your hotel early in this region during summer to avoid sleeping in the car.
-Room size is smaller than average.

Stayed in the hotel for a week. The location is good and close to the town. Food was tolerable but as advertised, there was no working sauna. Breakfast was extremely poor. None of the staff speak english so it was a bit of a challenge ordering food etc. Rooms were nice and clean. Overall an average hotel but probably the best around the area

I stay here for business - local copper mine. Not much to attract a tourist but a good business hotel - relative to the area.
Rooms vary- colleague v unhappy with his - shower drain not very functional as also loo flush - but mine were fine. Avoid rooms looking onto black sea - noisy main rd. As usual the prayer call is a early wake up - here in the east at around 4.30am. Got used to it now. Restaurant very average - choose Turkish or simple dishes. Avoid smoke salmon & other non local food! Gym is useless but interesting local gym!
