Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed at Hotel Macola this March. I was visiting Plitvice Lakes and this place worked well for me since I stayed here for just one night. Room was clean, front office staff were polite, however there was no night life, and there was nothing to do around the hotel. This hotel is approximately 20 km from the Plitvice Lakes, and I have to say that there are places that are closer to the lakes, but this hotel worked fine for me since it was more affordable than the properties or hotels at the Plitvice Lakes.

We reserved 3 rooms for 2 nights. Arriving at the place, we were shown rooms on the top floor. The smell was really bad! We went down back to reception asked to change to other rooms. We got new keys to rooms on first floor going up 4 stairs with no assistance with suitcases . They smelled too , less than those before. Rooms were very basic. Broken plastic chair . We felt like in a dormitory . At night loud talking noises from outside. Basic breakfast . The hotel hosted a police unit and it felt like a police base.

Arranged by travel agency to stay here for a night.
There is a supermarket just at the basement.
Rooms very miserably small.
Do not expect any service or even wifi.
Wifi is only at the reception area. Totally cannot connect in the rooms.
Dinner was bad. Breakfast was worst.
If you have a faulty hair dryer, just go to the reception to get one. Do not expect them to bring to you.
If you wanna see a real brown bear, walk 700metres down to this restaurant which bears the same name as this hotel.

A/C not working in the room.
Very arrogant receptionist not caring whatsoever about client satisfaction.
Smallish badly decorated rooms.
Low class restaurant more than 1km away -you need a car to get there or walk on the main road

We accidentally slept here. The hightway was closed due weather conditions.
Staff is nice and speaks english very well.
We had a very good experience. Would recommend to every traveler who need a rest.
Breakfast is huge portion. Dinner you can choose self service or a la carte. They even have a mini supermarket inside the building and cash automats.

We had to go here for food as part of a trip to Plitvice Lakes, it was a major disappointment. Awful food, awful service, awful atmosphere and I can't mention the bigger issue as my review will get removed - which says it all really.....

We stayed at the Macola Hotel and decided to have dinner at the restaurant. The waiter met us with the words "What do you want?" Then they tried to move us from the terrace into the hall only because we were tourists! Is this the way to treat us? When we refused to go anywhere from the terrace, they simply dashed a menu at us. Then they refused to accept credit cards, although we asked about this when we came and received a positive response. Would never recommend it to anyone. P.s. The dishes are big though.

the only good point of this hotel is that the lady at the reception is very nice, which is quite rare all over Croatia. other than that, the hotel is very bad, and unfortunately you don't have much choice if you want to visit the outstanding plitvice lakes. rooms are very basic, as well as bathrooms, no wifi in the room so you have to go to the lobby for that, the breakfast buffet is very poor and not tasty at all, and the dinner is simply awful

Stayed at this hotel as part of a bus tour in July 2011. Nicest place on the tour so far. The hotel has been nicely updated and the staff was friendly. The hotel is close to the Plitvice Lakes National Park. The A/C actually worked well at this hotel, which was a nice change from our previous locations.

I agree with previous reviews. Rooms are simple and basic. The light coming into the room from the central hall is odd. There are plenty stuffed animals in the hotel entrance hall. Some staff are not too friendly, specially the middle aged restaurant waiter. Breakfast is basic, but I did like the coffee. So what's good about it? It's located in a good spot if you are travelling between Plitvice and Split, the rooms and in general the hotel is in acceptable conditions. If you are looking for a place to stay overnight and don't mind hoards of packaged tourists around then it's a reasonable place to stay.
