A great family holiday park with campsites set amongst beautiful native gardens and stunning sea views. 18 powered camp sites, an on-site cariavan for hire and 2 en suite units are available. 'Grandmas kitchen' and a retro recreational room with log fire, and TV, games and a "swap a book library" are just some of the activities we have for guests. Walking distance to Rivertons township and to some fantastic swimming and surfing beaches.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fabulous campsite. Very clean with a well equipped kitchen and large communal space to share with other campers. Beautiful fire which the owners lit for us in the evening and just a great atmosphere. Highly recommend. The showers are small but so clean and tidy I don’t think you can mark this campsite down for that. Water is hot and great pressure. The owners are lovely gentle people and we enjoyed chatting to them. The whole campsite has a very friendly feel. Riverton itself is a lovely town, great value meat in the supermarket and a jug of beer $10 at Riverton Lodge!

A wonderful stop off on the Te Araroa with accomodation for all budgets. I had adopted my usual approach to level up my accomodation to the best available and booked a unit with private bath.

After being panicked into booking by booking.com telling me “only two left” (pro tip: there were only two in total in the first place as far as I could see) I found a very comfortably appointed unit with a generous supply of tea and milk, a crucial consideration after a week in the Bush.

The owner very helpfully provided change for the laundry (another post bush priority) and pointed me towards the Aparima restaurant (see other review).

A very comfortable stay and definitely a TA recommendation even if you insist on staying in a tent (with a guitar.....you know who you are). Make the most of it, next stop Martin hut, a very different proposition.

Thanks again Paul

We had a cabin with an ensuite and there was parking right outside for our vehicle. Although small the unit was perfect for us. The small kitchen is OK for breakfast and there is a large shared kitchen closeby in the huge hall which has an open fire, toys for the kids and plenty of inside room for rainy days.
Veronica was very welcoming and helpful.

The location is out of the way and therefore quiet but a bit of away from the “shops”. There wasn’t much going on in what is left of Riverton which is a shame as it has a lot of character and I hope that some life comes back to it.

The holiday park has all the facilities you need for an overnight stop and the showers are hot although just 2 for the size of the camp required some planning outside of the peak times. We would stay again as the town felt good with plenty of locals who were happy to have tourists in their town after COVID.

There was a large kitchen and games room perfect for families with a big open fire that would have been good for a cold night. I didn’t take photos of the camp grounds as it was raining when we were there.

Outside of peak times I would certainly stay there again

This is the best campground we've stayed at on the South Island - and we've stayed at many. Not at all like the massive chain campgrounds around the country. The Riverton park had friendly, helpful owners, the sites were large and it was safe to let our young children explore without worrying about cars etc. The onsite caravan was great value and a brilliant spot to escape the bad weather. The hall was spacious and the facilities were old but very clean. And it was quiet - many NZ campgrounds are now far from relaxing and noisy! Wonderful views... great place to escape and relax.

We stayed in one of the motel-type units. It was on the small side but quite suitable for us for one night. It was clean and comfortable, with a newish bathroom. The lady on the front desk was very helpful and friendly. She pointed us to an excellent restaurant for dinner Aparima ($$$ but lovely food). There is an onsite laundry which was very helpful. Great Hilltop Lookout 5 mins drive up the hill (gravel road & short walk).

Booked a powered site at this great campground. Friendly hosts, awesome very clean facilities. Only one downfall was the shower cubicles were really tight and not really any where to put your clothing and the lights are on timers so kept switching off. Minor problems in the grand scheme of things when you wake to beautiful sunrisers

We didnt look but luckily she had a powered site available. It was a little wet as it was grass and there had been a lot of rain. However lovely views. Huge recreational room but we didnt use it. Kitchen and shower facilities were good. Easy walk in to the small town, but uphill on the way back for part of the way. Nice owner....very pleasant.

Beautifully located campsite. Spacious pitches on grass. Located above the village with beautiful views. Close to Mores Scenic Reserve with a nice lookout. (Great hike 1 1/2 h to Balancing Rock)
Sleepy village with a beautiful beach where 1000 end shells are located.

We really liked it here and we can only recommend this CG.
