The best ever! The Country Homestead at Black Sheep Farm was a superb experience. Everything exceeded expectations as we spent two nights in the company of two exceptional hosts, with their warm and welcoming family, on a working farm, which offered incredible views, delicious breakfasts, homemade sweets, treats, breads and juices, a spacious suite, a comfy bed, perfect espresso, local wines, great conversations, and helpful guidance when discussing where to visit, how to get there, and what to see along the way. The location offers access to beautiful beaches and great restaurants just minutes away, while also providing the relaxing setting that comes with enjoying a perfect country retreat.

A lovely place to stay! The room was very nice, the owners - Lisa and Anthony - were both very friendly, we felt as staying with friends. They offered us a glas of wine before we walked to the restaurant which was within a walking distance of approximately 17 minutes. When we came back we sat down in the living room with Lisa and Anthony and another couple and had another glas of wine and a nice chat. The breakfast was delicious. The surrounding was beautiful.

We stayed here for a few days in Late January.

The hosts have a beautiful, welcoming home full of character set in a pristine location. The home has great facilities and the bedroom we stayed in was huge. The views are absolutely amazing and there is plenty to do in the local area.

The hosts have a really interesting background and they are only too happy to spend time entertaining guests. This extends to their wider family and our children had a great time with their youngest.

Not to be outdone, the breakfast was absolutely delicious. I don't think i've had such a great, not to mention healthy breakfast on holiday for a long time.

Really enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again sometime!

Everything about this B&B was top-rate. The hosts are wonderful people, the homestead and rooms are beautiful, and the location is ideal for visiting all of the many sights, walks, beaches and attractions in the area. Breakfast was full of home-made goodies which were absolutely delicious. We will definitely be repeat visitors here as everything about our stay was excellent. Thank you!

After a stressful week/month/year my partner and I decided on a Friday night to find accomodation out of Auckland to stay at for a weekend away, and what an amazing place we found.

As soon as we arrived we were greeted in the carpark by one of the most accomodating, friendly hosts I have ever had the pleasure of staying with. We immediately felt welcomed and had a small insight into the kind of stay we were in for.

The house itself was fabulous, with a beautiful balcony overlooking a valley on one side, and farmland/bush in the other (as someone who love photography this was perfect for me!).

A gorgeous conservatory is set up for the delicious breakfast served when you stay which includes homemade muesli with yoghurt and freshly cut fruit (the freshest breakfast I have ever had), scrumptious baking, and freshly made coffee.

Being so close to Mangawhai and Waipu made an outing quick and easy, if you ever wanted to leave at all.

We constantly were reminded how helpful and willing the hosts were to help, and ever single interaction we had with them made us feel right at home.

We can’t wait to come back for a longer stay - would love to take advantage of the fireplace in the sitting room and the full views this gem has to offer.

We enjoyed the very spacious room, the large ensuite and the balcony with expansive views. We appreciated the extra touches including the afternoon tea cake and coffee, a pre dinner glass of wine and the home made patisseries at breakfast. This is an easy place to relax and has delightful hosts.

The hosts were very warm and welcoming and couldn't do enough to make our stay more comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious, overlooking a glorious view. Our bedroom overlooked the sheep and chooks and I even got to feed a little baby lamb. The location is excellent, halfway between two gorgeous beaches and within easy reach of excellent restaurants and cafes.

We stayed at Black Sheep farm in mid February, we booked for 2 nights but after the first night we decided to stay an extra night. We then went up north and on the way back we booked for another night as we enjoyed the farm so much. The farm is situated about half way between Langs beach and Waipu Cove, I walked to both easily although it is uphill on the way back. They are both lovely beaches. We had a really lovely sunny room, quite large with its own ensuite which was very modern and beautifully tiled. We had many windows looking out over the farm and out to sea, our room got morning sun which was lovely. The hosts are really genuine friendly people, and as a bonus they have two lovely daughters who play a baby grand piano most evenings, which is very relaxing to have live music in the house. The hosts invite you to share a glass of wine with them in the evenings where you get to know them better. In the mornings they serve up a very tasty continental breakfast with fresh baking, so you are all set for the day ahead. Down in Waipu Cove there is a great restaurant which we used most days, it has a lovely view over the beach. All in All a great place to stay with very friendly people. Would we go back, well we did already!!

Our stay in early February, 2020, couldn't have been more comfortable or inviting. The hosts are interested in your comfort and very helpful with area and regional attractions and providing information. The king room is spacious, very comfortable with a sitting area, and quiet. The view to Bream Bay, as well as grazing sheep, flowers and lovely gardens was so restful. Shaded patio areas provide an opportunity to observe and hear birds, watch sheep and enjoy this quiet rural area. Our Hosts answered our endless questions with patience and recommendations...very appreciated as it was our initial visit to NZ. Breakfasts were plentiful, filling, and mostly right out of their gardens. Anthony and Lisa are wonderful cooks. We stayed two nights but wish we could have stayed much longer. We will definitely stay there again.

We stayed one night at Black Sheep Farm on our Northland road trip and wish we had booked to stay longer! Lisa & Anthony were absolutely wonderful hosts, welcomed us like family and couldn't have done more to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We were offered tea and cake on arrival, a glass of local wine as we relaxed in the lounge in the evening and enjoyed a delicious homemade breakfast in the morning of croissants, jams, muesli, yoghurt and fruit. There are loads of travel books (amongst others!) to get lost in, however Lisa & Anthony are also great for a chat about New Zealand and the rest of the world! Our room was beautiful with wooden beams across the high ceiling, a lovely balcony overlooking the luscious green land, an en-suite bathroom and an incredbily comfortable bed. We just wish we'd had better weather to enjoy the surrounding area more and meet their sheep, which graze right outside their property. Absolutely lovely stay and we are very grateful to Lisa & Anthony for their kindness and hospitality!
