Should not under-estimate any budget hotel, they might also provide you excellent 5 star services. The bellboys/room attendants are worth appreciation... these guys are fully dedicated to their job with on-time performance. Also the guard boy was very helpful, he cleaned my car in early morning without being told (The car was covered with lot of dirt after 10 hours long drive)...

i visit kanpur often... generally i stay at hotel rajaseth near the station but this time i preferred this hotel because of the location and parking as i had gone there by car....
all in all very poor service was provided... rooms are small... service is slow... food... better to a go to number of roadside eateries dishing out good food than this hotel...
for the commercial traveller who just has to sleep.. this might be it ...but there are number of other options... cleanliness and hygeine are also a problem.... being close to birhana road everything is avilable closeby...
conclusion: avoid if you are with family....

"Gaurav Hotel allows guests to live in the lap of luxury - whenever they feel like." Don't believe a word of this. The bathroom was filthy, beyond description. After checking in and seeing the room my daughter and I looked for other accommodations and moved to the Landmark Hotel instead. We had to pay for a full day at the Gaurav and they claimed that none of our five credit cards worked and insisted on cash. (At the Landmark Hotel the credit cards worked fine.) The Gaurav had a Master Card sign on the door, but their credit card machine was apparently not functional. The manager or owner was extremely rude, acting like we were some kind of fraudsters with fake credit cards. There was a sign hanging in the lobby, indicating that the elevator is often not working. All in all it was a big relief to get out of this place.

I wish I would read the reviews earlier. Unfortunately the Hotel Gaurav location and photos looked okay to me and I booked 2 double deluxe and 1 single deluxe rooms through Agoda. While checking in, the reception guy told rudely that they did not receive the money for rooms and got the money for 2 single rooms instead. I showed them the receipt, they told me "that receipt is from Agoda, not from us!!!". That was a shock for me. The most ridiculous staff I have heard there. I told them, Agoda is an internal brand and I have been travelling internationally with them since years. They just shouted on me and repeated the same words again. Since I was travelling with my wife and friends and the stay was for only one day I decided to give it a try, may be I need to give them some extra money (may be it was Kanpuri style since I arrived a little earlier than normal check in hour). Well, we headed for the room. Believe me, with all intentions to compromise the rooms were so dirty we immediately understood this was going to ruin my entire trip. We immediately left with no compensation however. The manager and reception guy was so pathetic, I thought for a second whether I was at all speaking to some hotel management. I went to a different hotel, way better at the same price. Later on while talking to Kanpur folks, everyone exclaimed "who gave you the idea of staying in Gaurav! That is a bad place." Well I learnt that by then, my bad.

The connectivity of this hotel from bus stand and railway station is good. The room hygiene is appreciable and the food is tasty. The only issue is that it's front end is on the main road. In totality the stay was as per my desire of a ideal hotel with value for my money.

Finding a Hotel with poor staff behavior is the last thing one would want in a hotel. This actually is the worst part of the hotel. The hotel although location wise can be preferred but it is always better to look for other ones as it would not be tough to get a better one in the same price range.

Dont stay at this place. Shabby rooms, extremely dirty and no service. The reviews till date seem to be from hotel staff or acquaintances as it is not worthy of the rating on tripadvisor.
