Excellent and mind blowing rooms in reasonable rates. Neat and clean. Break fast limited in the room itself. Free wifi. Hotel staff was good but hot water was not available in the evening. Hotel is in main market where lots of shopping centres available

First stay at OYO rooms. Clean Room where we stayed. Food in room service was good but pricing was was high considering the location and place. Main issue was parking. It was mentioned and confirmed that parking facility was available but there was no dedicated parking space. The hotel is right on main road and guest are supposed to park their vehicle on the space on main road if available else you have to find yourself space in by lanes and keep worrying about safety of the car. Wish OYO ensures that the websites carries the correctness and availability of complete details to guest prior to booking. The overall experience can be made better with just some efforts.

On my recent visit to the city I stayed in this hotel for 3 days. Booked it over the phone. I booked 2 rooms since I had a friend too.
The hotel staff was very polite at the time of check-in. I was shocked to see that the reception manager was delivering my luggage to my room.
The problem started next morning when something went wrong with their water pumps and there was no water in the room and the washroom. No water to bath or brush etc. I literally had to cancel my plans because of the water issue. On every phone call the staff replied with the same answer saying they dont know how much time will it take. Finally i decided to go out at 2:30 since it was impossible for me to stay in the room anymore. After coming to the room i came to know that the water problem was solved however, now there was some electricity problem due to which i had to switch my room. Later i realised that 2 of my chargers were burnt due to that electrical issue.
On my last day of stay I asked the person, who has been assisting me in the hotel, about whether we can check-out a couple of hours after the regular check-out time to which he asked me to talk to the manager. Now this was surprising since for the past 3 days I never saw anybody sitting in the reception except for this guy. Also he asked me whether the hotel can have my friends room 3 hours prior to the regular check out time since some guets were arriving. It was a perfect situation where i wanted to postpone my check out by 3 hours and they wanted to prepone one of our rooms check out by 3 hours. So i dialed a nimber that this guy gave me telling me its the managers number. The so called manager was very rude and stubborn and rudely refused to assist us in the matter. We even proposed to make some extra payment but he said that we will be charged for the entire days tariff.
All in all it was not so pleasant experience. I had heard a lot about OYO and thats why decided to try it this time. OYO disappointed me. Did not expect such a bad service from a brand that has been promoted so much socially.
Summary:
Location: Have given 1 star for the loaction. It is situated in the main market of Swaroop Nagar and hence has many options of food and other stuff.
Staff: Bell boys were helpful but not organised. Was weird to see bell boys sitting on the reception counter and then delivering your food and luggage. Manager was no where to be seen.
Service: room service was prompt since i only ordered food. Every night I used to get a call from the room service about dinner order but not even once did they call me for breakfast aince it was complimentary (and thats why for 2 mornings i did not even realise ghat i had complimentary breakfast)
Food: i only had an omlette and toast in my breakfast yhe last morning of my stay and it was decent.
Price: At first the rooms look pretty reasonable considering the location and the space however, after looking at the pathetic service one finds himself being robbed. Also the price of the food is too high for an average hotel like this.

1. Hotel asked me specifically to pay in cash. They denied check-in altogether but one hotel person came in and somehow was convinced for online payment. I did the online payment and thereafter the problems started.
2. Even after 15 min the check-in wasn't done. I had provided our I'd card and demanded that it be given back. At that time they said that printer is not working and therefore they will hold the card for half and hour and give back later. This had never happened before. I asked for the ID back and said that when printer starts working they could take my card back for Xerox/scan. At that time hotel reception was like what if Police comes in between. How is the hotel staff going to answer them? As if the customer needs to prove his legality or a pay a premium price and get a good nights sleep.
3. After I insisted that ID card be given back one hotel personnel got out of the building to get Xerox copies. I waited at the reception counter for some time before I got ID cards back.
4. I narrated the whole incident to OYO customer care thrice and still they did not provide me with an alternative accommodation. Instead of that I get an email that my issue is resolved. I'm still wondering how the issue got resolved?
5. When I tried to order tea after speaking with OYO customer care for an hour, to my surprise, I could not because the intercom was not working. Hotels brilliant suggestion was reception is not far so you can always ask at the reception.
6. We went out for dinner and then came back around 11PM. We were dead tired after this ordeal and needed a good night's sleep. I switched off all the lights and minutes later I heard doorbell. Reception person came in and told me that one of the switch was centralised and I could not switch it off. Keeping this switch on meant sleeping with lights on and not everybody achieves this feat.
It was 11PM and too much for a day. We slept with one of the lights on.
7. I got up at 4AM and saw that I have received an email from OYO. I was hoping that it might be related to OYO services or escalation response, but to my surprise it was a checkout email. To my surprise I had been checked out of the Hotel at 2:30 in the morning. When in morning I went for checkout (I have the picture of actual checkout that happened) the receptionist insisted that I rate the hotel in front of him. When I rated one and was going to submit he said "kya dikkat ho gayi apko". I have the conversation recorded. Lesson learnt from previous . He was asking us to rate the hotel as 5 on a scale of 5. Later he was like "Hamara business kharab ho jayega"; " Hotel ki rating kharab ho jaegi" etc.
After all this I was wondering,
I) why the hotel was listed as a OYO premium for this kind of reception?
II) why the insistence to pay in cash at the Hotel?

Rooms of the property are larger than usual and are contemporary, rooms service is now a lot improved since i last visited a few weeks back, location is great. Places like Moti Jheel, JK Temple and hospitals like Regency and others are also close to this hotel.

The worst experience faced. My family checked out within 20 minutes. Its not a Hotel. Dirty bedsheet, torn towels and what not. Dont waste your money on this hotel. There was no one from management to address these issues.

J.S. Continental is one of the big hotels in Kanpur. 1 month ago I stayed in this hotel with somebody, my experience was very good with this hotel. The ambiance here won my heart. The staff here is very friendly. If you want a place to stay in Kanpur then there can be no better place then J.S. continental.
