My husband and I attended a wedding this weekend and without a doubt the venue is amazing but the rest was shabby. To start with there were not enough staff on hand to cope with at least 100 guests, my husband had to queue up for 40 minutes to buy two drinks as there was only one member of staff on the bar trying to cope. The bar then ran out of glasses so people were being served drinks in wine glasses (not appropriate for G & T) and there was no ice to hand. Our room was clean but in need of redecoration. There was no duvet cover on the bed which I thought very unhygienic and certainly needs to be addressed. It's a shame as the setting is perfect but the finer points are sadly missing.

Dear Sue I am very sad that you feel we fell short of your expectation. No duvet cover is unacceptable. I do not know how this happened, but had you let us know we would have put it right immediately The day was an entirely surreal one and I am wholly surprised that the wedding went ahead at all. We were coping with a wedding from the previous day trying to get out and the wedding you attended trying to get in whilst all the main roads and surrounding lanes were closed by the police. The staff could not get here as the police were only letting wedding guests through the cordon. I remain extremely proud of the staff that were here who battled on after looking after and comforting the survivor of a fatal accident, and helping the crews of all three emergency services whilst trying to coordinate the registrars and bridal party to make the wedding happen. The bride and groom understand how hard we worked and had a wonderful day. Jane

A wonderful old converted mill set in beautiful grounds around a lake. Without exception all of the hotel’s staff were friendly and attentive. We spent four nights here and felt very much ‘part of the family’ during our stay. Having dined in the hotel restaurant each night I am happy to confirm that all our meals we’re delightful and we were not disappointed once. Our compliments to the chef. A special word of mention to Jane who assisted tremendously when we had car problems. Many thanks. Your help was much appreciated. We would not hesitate to return to this lovely hotel and look forward to our next visit.

We stay for 2 days and it was such a lovely treat, the hotel is beautiful, very clean and well maintained. The grounds are superb! Peacocks and ducks plodding around ,dipping in and out of the pond. Finally, the staff are friendly and nothing is to much trouble for them. The breakfast has a great menu fresh fruits, yougarts ,full English or pancakes with maple syrup or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, to name but a few of the things available. We will definitely be returning, its a great escape from the busy world I'm normally in.

Attended a wedding yesterday Sunday 22nd August at Hornsburry Mill, arrived and went looking for a drink, charged me £9.00 for two sparking waters, seems very overpriced. It spoilt the whole event for us, didn't feel like we could buy anything else to drink. Completely unnecessary.

Basically, a good choice for a stay. Room was fine - clean, comfortable and quiet. The TV didn’t work, though, and there was an England (Euros) football match on - the wonderful woman from Reception worked miracles to repair it before kick off!!! That was not a one-off - the staff couldn’t do more for us, they really went the extra mile. Breakfast was extremely good but dinner less so. It’s quite clear that the restaurant is suffering from staff shortages and one night a very nervous young woman served us - she tried, but she wasn’t very good. Still, I’m sure she’ll learn! Setting is lovely and they have 3 peacocks, a small lake with an island and a huge room for functions! Recommended!
