Having read the other reviews I was quite pessimistic about this place. We stayed in one of the newly refurbished cabins which was fairly clean though a few more cooking utensils and a dustpan and brush would have been useful. What really stood out though was the amazing adventure playground and flying fox. Our preteens are not that interested in playgrounds anymore but they just loved this one. We'll be back, hopefully in the summer.

An excellent place to stay when cycling the Hauraki Cycle Trail with incredibly helpful and friendly management at reception ( Mikayla from the US). We were helped into being able to stay with quite late notice in a cute wee Self-contained cottage ( Poppy Cottage) . Very quiet and confortable nights stay with the bonus of having the Hot Spring Mineral Spa pool all to ourselves - soooo relaxing after a day on the trail. Lots of info about where is good to cycle/ explore/eat ...They were just so helpful. Great outdoor playing area with high slide and climbing equipment if you have kids too. And check out the old Public Telephone Box still on the grounds- no longer working but good time warp!

They have a good range of accomodation options and our ‘cottage’ was clean and tidy, if a little older than the photos suggested. The swimming pool and hot pool were very welcome and the playground looked great, although we were a bit old for it!
The setting a little outside the township and off the main road means it is quiet, but it is only a 2 minute drive to the town centre.
The young lady in the office was great, friendly, informative and professional.
I will definitely consider it for my next visit here.

My home town. This place used to be lovely. We were met at reception by a young woman who seemed very surprised and confused. The young man called upon to help was in a dirty singlet which he kept wiping his face on. The receptionists couldn’t find our prepaid booking - we had asked for a motel unit. Barely communicated while trying to sort the problem (theirs - it was on the computer all the time) but eventually found it and placed us in a cottage, which was clean and adequate but we had ask for soap and the right number of towels, which were mismatched, thin and threadbare. No facecloths offered. No pool (warm or cold) available. Sad to see this beautiful site so dilapidated and such indifferent service.

Came to Te Aroha to experience thermal water. Unfortunately I did not read the review for this place before booking and problems mentioned by others are still happening. The spa was empty of water as was the pool. Some facilities are all locked up and if you want to use to have to pay more.
Quite dishonest the way the place is advertised. Most facilities tired and dirty. Even the device to catch blowflies in kitchen does not appear to have been emptied for a long time.
Manager would not even let me walk from outside camp to visit my friends who were already there (We arrived early) without paying an early check in fee. Greedy and unfriendly !

Auckland visitors, thank you for your feedback. Assuming the locked up facilities refer to the games room? Keys to enter can be picked up from reception, free to use for guests. Visitors to guests are being charged a visitors fee, it allow them to use playground and other facilities during their time at the Park. Will service the fly lamp, thank you for mentioning.

We will be back! Exceptionally lovely one-night stay. Manager was very friendly and super helpful. Lovely setting in the country but close to town. Great playground for kids (big kids and small kids) plus a pool room and TV room, lots of books etc. We had a tourist cabin for 5 people : cosy, very comfortable, perfect kitchen set-up (oven, stove, fridge, sink, microwave), table and chairs, bathroom, clean and neat. Double bed in main room, large second room to sleep 3, TV and settee in both rooms. Freezing night but we were toastie warm and cosy. Our cabin was between two other cabins which were both occupied but the insulation must be good as we didn't hear a thing. Everything was perfect. If you want classic kiwi bach, clean, warm, and so comfortable and at an extremely reasonable price, this is the place. There's also a swimming pool and spa which we didn't use but it all looks really nice. We will be back and next time we'll plan a longer break here.

This place is on the market for sale by private sale... let’s hope it sells!!!
Facilities are sparse, showers only 2 for men and the same for females. Beware you need to run around the shower to catch a drop or two of water even worse if someone flushes the loo or turns on a tap in the basins, the pressure is abysmal!!!
Water at the perimeter for your caravan or camper van is brown and has floating things in it!! Yuk. Do not use for filling up your tanks.
Host allows tourists to look after the office and they don’t even speak English.
The place is totally run down and needs a great deal of TLC.
Such a shame as this could be a fantastic place to stay.

I have just read your review, a very encouraging message to do things better, where justified and I am sorry you had a disappointing experience. Shower ratio to sites is usually sufficient for the number of guests staying, with 6 communal showers allocated to an average of 10 - 15 guests relying on communal facilities. Most of our rooms have en suites. Water is circulated around the Park with one distribution pump, keeping pressure at an acceptable level between 50 - 80 psi. If there was a temporary mechanical issue at the time of your visit, this would have been fixed immediately as we have not had any further complaints. For the convenience of camping guests, outside taps are scattered around the periphery of the Park, close to most power sites. Where these have not been used for a while , flushing might be required to clear the tap. The dwelling at the managers residence is at the end of this reticulation system and instantly picks up any irregularities that will be fixed as it would affect everyone. Tourists do not look after the office, it is either myself or individuals employed here on casual contracts. Its been 2 months since this review was written, my reply is rather late. We have been busy renovating, painting, cleaning, gardening. Covid 19 has given us all a breather to attend to many sore spots around the site

I have used campsites all over Europe and New Zealand and this has been a stand out. Really nice location, very reasonably priced, good facilities, and really nice staff.

I usually stay in a tent but I arrived at the campsite just before Cyclone Lola hit NZ. The staff looked after me and made sure I was ok by upgrading me to a cabin free of charge to keep me out the worst of the weather. It's an awesome campsite with really great people working here and looking after you.

5 stars. Thank you Te Aroha Holiday Park. Really appreciate you going above and beyond to help me.

Quaint, clean and friendly staff and people. We booked two powered sites and had a lovely soak in the mineral hot pool after cycling the hauraki rail trail. Lovely trees, clean amenities. Basic- fabulous outdoor activities for children ( we didn’t have any) but us adults were tempted. Also met a couple of the camp cats. 😊
There was information given about the water as it comes from bore and is a slightly off putting colour but is drinkable ans fine to use. Our Coffee didn’t taste any different 😊.

Emailed ahead to check dog friendly assured yes in designated area. Arrived around 11am. Told by manager/owner Anna where dog friendly area was. Pretty awful facing a field. No space and on top of each other with other vans and cabins behind. Owner told us we couldn’t book in until 2pm or we would be charged for the day too. Drove around site and left. Very unkempt, poor condition cabins, scruffy uncared for feel about the place. Owner unhelpful. Not very friendly. The one area that looked half decent we were not allowed to go because we had a dog despite site being very quiet.

The park offers a large section , sheltered by trees for guests with dogs. By separating pet owners from others, camping guests can be assured that no furry animal had been using the same patch. Most guests therefore appreciate the privacy created . This guest was not charged and did not stay. Early arrival , prior to lunch time are welcome but will trigger a minimal early check in fee,

Apologies for any disappointments. The majority of my visitors are very satisfied and commonly extend their stay with us. Most of them do not comment on social media and their happy faces stay with us when they leave. The fantastic playground for children has consistently been a guest delight and so are the huge shady trees and secluded camping sites with the Cabins scattered amongst them. However unhappy guests leave feedback on this site, often as a result with payment issues when for example guest numbers have not been declared, or when realised that the Holiday Park is situated on the outskirts of Te Aroha and not in the centre. Issues such as cleanliness and customer care have often been criticised. Myself and a team of 2 - 3 helpers constantly work to keep everything tidy and welcoming. I sincerely apologise where we have failed to meet expectations where little things have been missed. I can assure you that we do everything in our powere to rectify any issues immediately as long as we are told directly by our guests. Payment is collected when the booking is made and refunds issued only when sufficient notice given.
