Another lovely stay at Thalia hotel. Found all staff to be lovely and helpful during our stay. Some things have changed since our previous stay here. They are refurbishing rooms. We had a ground floor room and was as we expected it to be. Breakfast is ok, not lots of choice but ok for a light breakfast, if you want a fuller breakfast, plenty of choice locally between 7 - 10euros. We did have a small issue with our shower but was reported on our way out and rectified by the time we returned back from dinner. Plenty of sun loungers if you like the pool. Pool bar food and drink good and very reasonably priced. If you want 5 star, book and pay 5 star prices. You get what you pay for. If you want a comfortable hotel with friendly staff in a good location that doesn’t cost the earth give this a try. Treat people as you want to be treated and I don’t think you’ll find them rude.

After a flight delay we arrived at 2am and were swiftly booked in and given our key and remote for the air con as we'd paid for the week.
On entering our room we were amazed at how awful and dated it was! I'd read very mixed reviews and thought the very bad ones must be disgruntled guests and it can't be that bad, but this room was!
I went back to reception to ask to change rooms but was told we had to ask the next day when the manager was on duty.
The room was so bad we were looking for hotel availability because if they wouldn't change our room there was no way we were staying here!
The next morning I asked if we could change rooms and luckily I was told yes and to come back later when it was ready. We then were moved to an upstairs room.
The difference in rooms was huge! This was so much better than the one we were checked in to, so we unpacked and started our holiday.
I don't know how many rooms are like this but if they were taken out of use until renovated, it would maybe stop some of the really bad reviews as the rest of our stay was fine and the biggest problem seems to be the rooms.
The new room wasn't perfect or spotless but the bin was emptied daily and towels and beds changed. If you go looking for issues you will always find them. The staff clearly work hard and they were all polite and friendly.
There was some sewerage smells on and off throughout the week, one night being particularly bad but it seemed to be more outside than coming from the room.
Breakfast was OK, with enough choice. We didn't have it every morning. It was better if you went early rather than near the end. We also had food from the pool bar, as we spent a lot of time by the pool, and that was lovely and cooked fresh to order.
Overall, after the bad start, we had a lovely holiday and if I was guaranteed not to be put in one of the rooms that require updating I would definitely return.

New pools nice once the chlorine situation was sorted, breakfast was very limited only hot option was omelette, beans were warm. Boiled eggs were ok. Cake and biscuits were delicious. Would go back if breakfast improved

For those people that have rated this hotel as 5 Stars, I would love to see the rooms you stayed in!
On arrival we needed to get the maid to come and clean the shower again as there was brown staining all over the tiles, the bathroom fittings were all dull, worn or corroded, the mirror and shelf looked as though it was put in when the hotel was built and has never been replaced. The bedroom is basic, that’s fair enough, a lot of hotels in Pefkos are too, all we were expecting was something that was clean and well presented. It was neither. Air conditioning, as mentioned in other reviews is €10 a day, we had it on all of the first night and the temp was still 28 degrees in the morning, we didn’t bother getting it for any more nights.
This is by far the worst hotel I’ve stayed at in my entire life and would NEVER return. The young English lady, Jasmin, was the only person that I actually saw smile or laugh, she couldn’t have been more helpful, if the other members of staff, and who I believe is the owner, took a leaf out of her book of how to treat people it would be at least a start at turning this horrific hotel into a more pleasant stay, that and actually getting the rooms in need of refurbishment up to a standard that could at least be acceptable as a barest minimum.
As for the breakfast, we only ate there the first morning, none of the food was covered, everything sitting in open trays, no fresh fruit juices or fresh fruit to be seen anywhere, every other day we took breakfast at a neighbouring hotel, as we weren’t prepared to take the risk of getting food poisining from the poor food hygiene standards.
If you think I am being unreasonable with my review check out the pictures I’ve uploaded with this review and make up your own mind.

This hotel was ok and that's as good as it gets, the rooms are very, very outdated and are in dire need of modernising. We had a terrace room onto one of the pools, the patio door barely locked and we wanted to change rooms when we arrived late at night as we didn't feel safe however we were told we weren't allowed and had to ask in the morning by then we just accepted our fate and knew the other rooms would barely be any better. We looked at a newer/renovated room after a few days and there was no difference to the old rooms. You don't even get soap to wash your hands after the toilet. Shampoo/conditioner is upon request.
The breakfast wasn't great, we had it once on the first day and never again, not much choice and didn't taste great what little was available.
The only good this is the two pools, the old one is alot quieter so we stayed by that one. The staff are mostly friendly and try to be helpful.
You do have to pay £10 euro a day for air con which I think is a total rip off. You also have to ask for a hair dryer and a kettle if you want a hot drink which again should be included in the room.
We were told by a friend that rooms in Greece are very basic but we didn't realise HOW basic.
If you're looking for cheap and cheerful this would be for you, although I like a few more amenities in my room.
No pictures of the room purely because we were embarrassed to take any and show family/friends 🤣

Response from nikos dimitriou, Ιδιοκτήτης at Thalia Hotel

Dear Lucie, thank you for coming first of all, regarding your issues with the patio door , did you report it to the reception?, the breakfast is continental but you get much more for a continental breakfast that you have paid and booked, the back pool that you was spending your time is only 4 years old same as the front pool , so you can't call it old, about the 10 euros , there is other hotels that they are charging 15 and 18 euros for the a/c, unfortunately energy cost , now about the kettle and the hairdryer that must included in the room , we agree with you but when every year we need to by kettles and hairdryers due to people steal them that's why we have them in the reception so we know who take them . Thank you anyway for coming. Thalia Hotel.

Great place, stayed there for ten days, rooms were clean and tidy, staff were friendly, helpful and approachab.
Good food available at a very reasonable price too:
€3.50 for a decent gyros must take some beating.
I’d definitely like to stay here again.

Great 3 star hotel. Wasn't expecting much due to bad reviews but I was more than pleased throughout my stay here. Staff where attentive and friendly. Rooms where cleaned daily with clean bedding and towels also daily. Pool and bar areas clean and fun. Great location. My only downside was the quality of food at breakfast but this was included with the price so I was simply happy to have free coffee. For the price this hotel is well worth it definitely at the top end of any 3 stars I have stayed in. Ignore bad reviews the hotel is lovely and really good value for money. I would definitely return

What can I say? Just back from our first stay at The Thalia after two lovely weeks in Pefkos (have visited many times previously).
Reading some of the recent reviews I think we must have stayed elsewhere! Yes the rooms are Greek basic but ours was clean with fresh towels every other day and regular bedding changes. Reception (thank you Nikos) staff, cleaners, bar staff all lovely people and made a huge fuss of our Grandson who loved them all. Pools lovely, breakfast plentiful and included so a bonus. Absolutely no complaints and we wont hesitate to stay here again when we return to Pefkos! Thank you for a very enjoyable stay Thalia!

My second time staying at this wonderful family-run hotel with my partner. The first time we stayed it left such a lasting impression on us we just had to come back.

The staff have always been nothing but welcoming and helpful towards all of our needs and any requests.

The hotel is in an amazing location in the beautiful town of Pefkos, a short walk from the beach and a stroll away from the main strip.

The pool is lovely and the best place to relax and unwind, the new updated food menu is brilliant and every lunch we have had here has been great.

We will definitely be returning next year.

Went in September 2022 as a solo traveller at the end of the AI offering. Good price for an AI Light option - coffee, soft drinks and wine/beer for the price of a Self-Catering. The food was inedible. Pools great and close to the lovely resort of Pefkos. Think they will be better suited as a B and B. Towards the end of the holiday the owner/manager shouted at a hard-working member of staff who ended up crying which made me sad and uncomfortable for the rest of the holiday.
