The best thing about Tessa’s is it’s location right on the beach. We stayed in an Island Breeze Queen room which was located to the side of the beach front rooms, only steps from the beach. There was a cute little beachfront area with lounge chairs, hammocks and post beach shower, bordered by cacti and frangipani. The beach front rooms would be lovely (but expensive) as you could open your door for the direct ocean breeze. My stay was enjoyable and comfortable. however, I do think it is way overpriced for what you get but we did stay during the Christmas New Year period and it was the most affordable of the available accommodation on the Gold Coast last minute (post covid all Gold Coast hotels seem way over for what you get). This is a very old motel that has been renovated, slapped on a coat of paint with a few hit and miss design features. The magnesium pool was lovely to swim in, the painted design on driveway was cool, cacti dotted around the property and the beachfront lounge area relaxing. But our room didn’t have any windows only a sliding door, so we couldn’t enjoy an outlook from our room and it was kind of dark. Both the shower and bedroom had glossy floor tiles that were slippery when wet, not ideal in the a beachfront location. But better than carpet. Incorporating a more cohesive and stylish design with a few more upscale features in the rooms and around the motel would elevate the feel and help to over look the older bones. Bikes were available to hire which is a great idea, as it would be perfect to ride along the esplanade right at the door step up to Tugun or down to Kirra. Just need a selection of kids bikes too (especially during the school holidays). The on-site bar is a nice idea as there isn’t anything within immediate walking distance. Undercover parking is available and while busy we always got a spot. You don’t really need to have a car as it is super easy to get the 700 or 760 bus with the Bilinga beach SLSC bus stop is right at the door step. I found public transport excellent on the Gold Coast, with regular buses you can travel easily up and down the coast. On check out we got the 760 bus from right out front and were at the airport in minutes. Having said that being so close to the airport you do get aircraft noise.

The staff were amazing!! They went out of their way to help arranging dinner & breakfast too- l found being shown to the room & offering assistance with carrying luggage went above & beyond for 100% good service also. The bathroom had nice tiolettries in it & the bed was so comfortable so I slept well. Only thing I could fault was the drinks in the fridge - & food available was more expensive than other places I've stayed but as no shops were still open when I arrived in the evening & required a refreshing drink of spring water with the pizza I got there for my dinner I can probably overlook it that it was $5 charged to my card for it as well as paying separately for dinner which wasn't as cheap as I've paid before but much easier than ordering Uber eats or a delivery service quite possibly..

Good rooms and well decorated, nice swimming pool but you have the beach just in front of the hotel. Reception girl was super nice and even offered to take bags upstairs since they were heavy. Great bras and everything was clean. I bit far from everything, no restaurant in the area. I would return!

Great location but other than that, I didnt like the experience. Not sure how the overall reviews are high, may be it was just our room. The bathrooms had mould on the grout. the air conditioner has never been cleaned, it made a noise so had to turn it off. The blinds do nothing to block out any light. The room we got wasn't worth the price, for a $50 different we should have stay at the casino.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tessa’s On The Beach! It certainly is Palm Springs meets the Gold Coast … we loved all the quirkiness! The bed was very comfortable, the staff were all very friendly / helpful. Great AC and ceiling fan …. will definitely stay here again

Great spot right on the beach. We booked a room for us and our 15yo son. The single chair that folds out to a bed isn’t at all ideal for people over 5ft 7inches and you can’t sleep on the small couch. The mattress on the kingsize bed is firm. Quite expensive at $600 for the night.

Real stinker of a place to stay. Basically an old motel. Very below par accom. The price is a joke for what it is. Not convenient to any shops and has loud planes going over. Stay in a proper hotel. One of the worst places I’ve stayed in my life.

Oh dear what a disappointment this is just a cheap flag in painted white with cactus in pots and an old combos outside
Trying very hard to be retro and failing
Way too close to where the planes land so they are literally next to the building as they come down
No coffee shop or any facilities close by
Just dreadful
I wouldn’t mind so much except it was also expensive
Don’t bother

The complimentary breakfast when booking direct was probably the best part of our stay, along with the super comfortable bed and beachfront position. We had to check-in late, due to a last minute change of plans due to the Byron Bay bushfires. Unfortunately this situation seemed to raise suspicion of card fraud with the Hotel Manager, due to booking so late in the evening? Overall, a good airport hotel on the beach.

We were really happy here and added another day to our trip for it.

We had an oceanfront room. Looking out the window at the sunrise was great, and the beach was very lightly occupied in our area.

- We loved getting breakfast boxes from the bar every morning with pastries, juice, yogurt, and fruit.
- The staff was friendly and helpful for all our questions and requests
- free bike hire to ride up and down the strip
- liked the modern decor in the room
