We have stayed at Les Rêves D'or for the past 3 years Pre Covid and we just booked our 4th trip for next year. The gite is located on the sea between two beautiful beaches. A nice little walk along the beach directly from the gite to either beach. One to the left and one to the right. The views are wonderful. The staff is friendly and helpful. Hiking is right at hand with a short hike from La Perle over the little mountain and a longer hike over another little mountain that takes you to Deshaies. This side of the island has a National Park that has many hiking trail. I would advise renting a car so you can see this beautiful Island. We always feel at home when we stay with Les Rêves D'or.

We spent 10 wonderful days in a two bedroom cottage (#12) there in mid January. We had everything we needed in this well-equipped, comfortable cottage and enjoyed our time on the two outdoor decks. The location was ideal, as we could walk to one of the lovely nearby beautiful beaches which were never crowded. Lunches at the restaurants on the two larger nearby beaches were fantastic. Christina and Pascal are wonderful hosts, and easily accessible. They speak English fairly well, and were immediately responsive to all of our inquiries. Great restaurant selection 10 minute drive away and Deshaies and a large supermarket is about a 15 minute drive. We thought the location was ideal.

My wife and I had a very wonderful week here in Guadeloupe thanks to Pascal and Christina. We stayed the entire week on Basse-Terre and found that the location near the Grand Anse and Plage de Perle beaches was among the best we saw. From the Gites, it is a short walk down the hill to get to either a close beach or to take a quiet coastal & forested trail to reach Grand Anse. Many of our days were enjoyed simply walking the paths and to the different beaches, but we were also greatly helped by the hosts rental vehicle that let us get further from the Deshaies area. Pascal and Christina are very friendly and helped may our stay really enjoyable. The rooms in the Gite #3 include a bedroom, living room, bathroom, and a small kitchen space. In front of the gite is an ocean facing deck that is also close to the outdoor restaurant. We also enjoyed eating one night with the cuisinier (also named Pascale) in the friendly restaurant outside. We would love to come back here again in a future year!

Please note the page is not up to date!!! There hasn't been a swimming pool for a long time. It is no longer a residence but several small apartments for rent. No restaurant terrace. Even if the place is nice, find out!

We spent a week in June when the weather was perfect. I had expected it to be hotter and it was pleasant in the evenings and warm during the day. The rain showers didn't interfere with our plans. The hosts keep the place impeccably clean and well maintained. The gardens contain many tropical flowers and fruit trees and the views from the patio are outstanding. Christina and Pascal are very hospitable and helpful. She will prepare a lovely breakfast with prior arrangements. On site parking is no problem. You will need a rental car to get around and the driving isn't too bad. The locals drive faster than our taste so we just pulled over to let them pass. The lovely beach is a short walk (15-20 minutes) or quick drive. Restaurants are a short drive into Deshaies. Not much variety on the menu but the food is well prepared and not expensive. The grocery store is an 8 minute drive and is well stocked with everything you need including alcohol, ice. Be warned that the mosquitoes were rampant and without the DEET I bought at the Pharmacy I would have had a miserable time. They even come in the room. The mosquito nets are helpful at night. Our cabin was pristine and equipped with a small kitchen. We opted to make breakfast and some lunches. The room was comfortable but the bed was so low that it was a bit difficult to get up and down. They note that they do not consider this a hotel...which means that you will not have daily maid or towel service. You must supply your soap, shampoo, etc. You will have one set of sheets and towels for your stay and may request fresh ones for a price. I was supplied a hair dryer upon request. We enjoyed the pool and infinity tub. Flowers surround the pool which attracts hummingbirds.

I just spent a week at Les Reves d'Or with 3 of my friends - a wonderful break from New England's bleak winter. The property is wonderfully situation by the beach with a rugged path that takes you to a couple of secluded beach spots and a 17 minute walk to Plage de la Perle. We stayed in Gite #10, a 2-story unit with a spectacular view of the sea. We started the day with b'fast on the upper deck and ended the day there under starry stars and listing to sound of crashing waves and peeping frogs. One thing you should definitely take Pascal and Christine up on is getting picked-up at the airport and renting a car through them. Last year, we had to wait over two hours to pick up our rental car. This year, Pascal was there to pick us up and less than an hour later, we were at Les Reves. And our departure was made that much easier since we didn't have to deal with car rental return before an early morning flight. As for the units themselves, the BR's are air conditioned so sleeping on warm nights is not a problem. The downstairs room has a queen size bed, the upstairs one does as well, with an addition of a twin size bed. The living/sitting area upstairs has two couches that can be used as beds (but no mosquito nets there). The kitchen has the basics so you can cook meals and came equipped with basic essentials - coffee, oil, salt and pepper, etc. The bathroom is set up so there's a shower and sink in one room, and a toilet and sink in another room - makes sense when you have 4 people staying there. I think they do lobster dinners on Saturdays - we weren't able to take advantage of it this year, but maybe next time. I enjoyed my stay there and would definitely come back.

We stayed one week in cabin #6 ("Les pieds dans l'eau"). Clean and practical, very nice terrace facing the sea. Lots of hummingbirds in the hibiscus scrubs around the cabin. No mosquito problem during our visit. The only thing to complain about was the bed which was a bit too short and too hard for our taste.
Pascal and Christina provided a personal and friendly reception and catered for all our needs (English speaking, which was a relief ...).
Good location for visiting Basse-Terre and Deshaies area in particular, but a rental car is definitively needed. Easy and safe parking close to the cabin. Wonderful beaches within a few minutes walk, both towards Grande Anse and Plage de la Perle.

Pascal & Christina are very friendly, speak English (and French) and are keen to help. The accommodation is clean and comfortable with a stylish new bathroom and good furnishings.
Although the site is close to the road, there is a new high tech fence to reduce noise around the pool area.
Wifi is reliable but not always in the room.
The gites are overlooking the sea and an official path takes one to Grand Anse, Deshaies which is a spectacular beach. There is also a smaller beach within 5 mins walk along the coast path. In the opposite direction down a quiet road is La Perle beach which is equally attractive.
There is a small bakery and small general shop within walking distance.
Everybody around is friendly including the locals who are patient if French is not your first language. You can get about by bus but they don't run in the evenings and the most frequent buses are from Grand Anse.
Deshaies is a very pretty town - British visitors will recognise the locations of many scenes in the BBC "Death in Paradise" drama.
One last tip - come for a long time - Guadeloupe is a long way from Europe so stay for as long as you can. We had 3.5 weeks but would have liked longer.....

You cannot separate talking of this Gite from talking about Pascal and Emmanuel – the owners. This is a very personalized place and there influence is all over all the time. From the lovely decorating to the cleanliness of the place – the team of two (plus a few others) does a fantastic job managing the site. I think they are wonderful people and made the whole experience really nice.
It is a compound of a few small bungalows mixed with a few apartments in one building – it is nestled right above the beach – and in between two major beaches. It is also right next to the main road right around the island which can be a bit noisy from trucks from time to time – particularly at the pool.
I stayed in Bungalow 2 – a two bedroom, one shower bath, and a small kitchen area. The colors and decoration were lovely with air conditioning in the bedrooms, and nice fans in the center living area. The bathroom was nice and one of the better high pressure showers you will ever come across – water is not an issue on this tropical island! The kitchen had what you need – particularly the refrigerator, but I know it is on their list of things to remodel shortly. The living are is small, with a nice TV (French only), and the ability to open the windows to let the breeze through. It overlooks the parking area with a small patio, and the front sitting area is nice outside. Because of the proximity to the main building you can use the WiFI from several spots in and just outside the room – that was nice.
I took the option for breakfast – which was a highlight of day. Since I was there at a very slow time I was lucky enough to have Manu for the preparer – and we chatted each day about what I was planning do to, where I ate and life in general. Often Pascal would come by and we would look at the map together as well – they are very helpful in all regards. Breakfast was fresh pineapple, bananas, croissants or brioche, local coffee – very nice indeed but the company was the best part! Manu would feed the little birds sugar, and along with the lovely view of Grand Anse it was a terrific place.
One does have to keep in mind this is a GITE not a hotel – so there is no daily room cleaning (nor do you need it) but they are good about towels and sheets as needed. There is the proximity to the highway that is mildly bothersome upon occasion.
Each day I would walk along the beach for several miles along a near empty road – it was a step back in the Caribbean. There was this nice cow that was keeping the weeds down that came to know me – best location in the world – see the view – for a cow! And chickens, and a pig and a mixture of a neighborhood – took me back 30 years in the Caribbean – this is a very rural location.
The location is fantastic if you are planning to spend a lot of time on the beach – they were near empty and there is a LOT of lovely beach nearby. But there is not a lot to do nearby and it is takes time on a windy two lane road to go places – it’s doable but every place is a bit of a drive.
If you are an English speaker only (I speak French as well) this area will be a challenge at times – there is some English around but it is mostly a rural French speaking area. You will find the Creole food is really good but not cheap as well.
