The Hotel Bernina is right across from the train station and is the reason I booked the hotel for just one night after taking the Bernina Express train. The room was tiny and barely fit our suitcases. We did have a view of the train station and plaza which was nice (see photo). The breakfast was very basic and we were never greeted and also we were never asked if we wanted a cappuccino, etc. If you are looking to find a hotel for one night near the train station for about $100/ night then this might work for you but lower your expectations.

This hotel is convienently located right across the street from the train station which worked perfectly for our stay before taking the Bernina Express. The on-site restaurant was nice and we enjoyed our meal very much.

Be advised that this hotel does NOT have air conditioning. This probably isn't usually an issue since it is cool there after the sun sets but there was a "heat wave" while we were there so it was quite warm in our room all night even with all the windows open and two small fans running.

The front desk and the buffet breakfast do not open until 7:30. If you are on the 8:06 AM Bernina Express, you may not have time to eat before you need to leave. Also, you can not check out until after 7:30 but they did offer the option to check out the night before.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this sweet little town and hotel!

An excellent stay with an excellent breakfast, sadly it was just for one night and we would have liked to stay longer. The room was beautifully clean and whilst overlooking the main square, we were not affected by undue noise. A great choice if/when travelling on by train to Milan or on the Bernina Express.

We chose this hotel because of its location, which is definitely good. Right opposite the two railway stations, Swiss and Italian.
I get the impression that it has in the past been loved and a lot of attention given to the things that matter. It’s often small things that cause annoyance. EG. We had postage size towels the first day. (Discovered just as we took a shower)! The fire doors appear to be regularly left open to the elements. The heating in the room is controlled somewhere other than in our room so one has to actually ask for it to be turned up. Small things. It was a special day for us and we particularly wanted a nice meal. It was not good. Not well cooked and not well delivered. In fact it was delivered within ten mins. So hardly freshly cooked. The breakfast was shocking. At 9.45 am we got up from the table to take a second look at the buffet and to maybe have something more. I don’t like to pile my plate. Everything was more or less cleared away. When we asked why, we were told that the restaurant had to be prepared for lunch. Fair enough. However breakfast was, we were told served and available until 10,00am. The man with glasses who spoke to me was unbelievably rude. I was definitely just looking for a small piece of something tasty not to be shouted at for no reason.
Sadly the food on both meals was good food but just badly cooked. The room was a good room where a small amount of extra attention to detail (including removing dead flowers in window box) would have gone a long way.

Be careful of this hotel restaurant food and bill, they are not honest people. When I choose from menu, they provide not the one I order. They insist that is the one. I can only reject to eat so I don’t need to pay for that. However, when checking out next day thé put coffee and dessert on my room that I never order. I would have to argue not to pay for things I never eat.
Thé check-out counter woman knows how to fight. I have train to catch, I cannot stop her nonsense.
2016 I was staying in this hotel and very happy. Now they change management, menue, food and staff.
Terrible experience, when I checked in I even got a staff to warn me why you come to this hotel. This is not a good hotel. After I experienced it, she was right.
Be careful when you check out, check the bill, they put extra you didn’t take to get your money. If you find out you’ll see this check out woman’s face and knows how to fool you and fight with you.
I never go back, worst hotel in my travelling experience.

This is a very nice hotel that is just across the street from the train station which made it very convenient for us since we were taking the Bernina Express. The trains are very quiet so you don’t hear them come and go. Beds were comfortable, staff was friendly, they had a nice breakfast. We ate in the restaurant for lunch as well and the food was very good. I would recommend the hotel for anyone staying in Tirano.

The hotel is in good location but the hotel staff can't be trusted to give accurate information and were defensive and unapologetic when they were told they had given wrong information. Then then tried to make excuses. I will not stay there again .

Good modernised bathroom (shower only) with a few older scratches. Room itself old and crammed, not even 3 stars despite the comfy beds and good wifi.
Breakfast also between 2 and 3 star quality; no hot food and hardly yoghurt, however good fruit, bread and Italian sweet stuff. Friendly staff and excellent dinner restaurant.
Good to go if the location (at doorstep of station) and 2-3 star price are important.

Great location, steps from the train station! Hotel staff very nice. Nice clean, quiet hotel. Breakfast included was wonderful. Restaurant located in hotel is nice as well, great pizza and fresh salad. Front desk stored luggage while we waited for train departure, much appreciated. Highly recommend hotel.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for three nights. It was perfectly located right across the way from the train station. The room was on the smaller side, but it was clean and served it's purpose. There was a lovely restaurant where they served breakfast which was included and was just perfect! Great chocolate croissants! We also had dinner there. The wall was glass, so you could just sit and watch the action in the small piazza, which was nice. The price was very reasonable and I would certainly stay there again!

I can't remember the exact time, but I know we had an early breakfast, as we were catching a train. They don't provide a cooked breakfast, it's mainly breads and cakes, so you could take some food from the buffet to eat on the train. Also the walk from the hotel to the train is very short, although make sure you know which station you are going from, as there are two stations, next to each other.
