Reviews summary

Bj Playamar Hotel & Apartamentos is often celebrated for its family-friendly atmosphere, with guests enjoying the relaxed poolside setting and the sufficient space provided to avoid overcrowding. The hotel's location earns high marks for being conveniently close to the beach and nearby attractions. While the rooms are generally commended for cleanliness and size, some guests have noted that the decor could use updating and have encountered issues with the air conditioning. Although the hotel's amenities, including entertainment options, are appreciated, the absence of a snack bar and some inconsistencies in housekeeping have been points of contention. Cleanliness is typically well-regarded, with daily housekeeping being the norm, yet there have been occasional lapses. In terms of value, opinions are divided; affordable rates are a plus, but some guests feel the food and all-inclusive offerings do not meet their expectations. Lastly, service quality varies; many find the staff to be friendly and helpful, though there are reports of unprofessionalism and cleanliness oversights.

Having booked in 2019 and waiting 2 years due to covid this was a much longer for trip and I was a little dubious as the price was so low!

The apartment was very basic but very clean to be fair. We had 11 night stay, cleaners came 3 times during our stay and changed all bedding and towels, bins and swept floors.

We did not intend to do any cooking but wanted fridge for storage of drinks which was perfect. Had we wanted to cook, there was no kettle and not much in drawers or cupboards in way of utensils and crockery so be warned if you do intend on cooking! There are several Spar shops for food but corner shop prices, we didn’t see a large supermarket but then we didn’t drive anywhere so there may have been a cheaper larger shop locally.

The living area/ where kids slept on sofa beds had air con but our bedroom did not, it was very warm in there so could do with a fan, to be fair we didn’t ask at reception and probably should have as they may have provided or been able to rent us one.

We enjoyed eating out at a large variety of bars and restaurants within 5 min stroll, local cafes, bars and restaurants were great quality with a varied menu of food and drinks and mainly with sea views and a lovely atmosphere. Other hotels in area are very swish and probably cost thousands pp so we felt lucky that we had paid £600 per person for our holiday and were enjoying same resort, just sleeping and swimming somewhere basic.

The pools were great and open from early till late, our kids enjoyed a late evening swim when we came back on a few occasions! The evening entertainment wasn’t great for us with teenagers but seemed popular with many! The same euro trash music, bingo, quiz night and terrible kareoke which was very loud and our apartment overlooked the pool so there was no peace before midnight but if you time it right and stay out till then it’s fine!!
Having said that the entertainment staff were very enthusiastic! There are plenty of beds round both pools as well as tables and chairs., there’s plenty of shades and even a couple of day beds. There’s a kids splash zone open from 10-5 daily.

Beware of having to pay ‘tourist tax’ at hotel on arrival of around €15 pp. nobody explained what it was - maybe as UK not in EU I assumed?!

We never ate at the hotel and personally I wouldn’t go all inclusive in Spain as I like to explore and support the local businesses and my family are fussy eaters and I suspected the food would be a bit samey. I noticed the timings for meals were set and drinks finished at 10pm and we don’t like to clock watch when on holiday so eating pit enabled us to go with the flow!

Overall we had a fantastic, relaxing break and would stay here again, it really was very basic but it’s in such a fantastic location in a beautiful resort so if you are looking for somewhere cheap to rest your head while enjoying a fantastic beach resort I would recommend.

Stayed for 3 nights with a friend
It is good for a 2* hotel only downfall is the food it’s cold and not much variety but for what we paid we didn’t mind eating out.(you wouldn’t starve as there is eatable food Just not our liking)
Rooms are small but enough space for 2 people only 1 plug socket but it’s clean and tidy and maid came every morning we were there.
Pool areas are good especially the adult pool with good loungers
Drinks were ok the normal all inclusive
The hotel is in a great location only minutes from the beach.
Would definitely come back to this hotel for a cheap getaway

We just stayed at this hotel a week ago. At first hand the hotel looks very nice and welcoming, however I cannot say the same for the manager at this hotel. When we first arrived we were told we had to pay 25 euros tourist tax??? When we questioned the receptionist she didn’t know what this was for!!

Being half board we asked the procedure of getting alcoholic drinks in the morning and evening when in the restaurant, and was advised that we could use the self serve wine & beer facilities within this time. However the manager felt the need to completely ostracise us by shouting in front of everyone that the drink facilities were only for all inclusive, she wouldn’t listen when we advised what we told. She allowed her children to go into the adult pool on more than one occasion. Very contradicting behaviour. The food was dreadful appeared to only cater for Europeans and staff, it was cold and the variety provided was awful. We were not advised about the free WiFi when we tried ourselves it was asking for a fee, it was only till 4 days in that a friend who was staying at the hotel advised we needed to go to reception and they did indeed sort it, however if we hadn’t asked no one would have helped us. All I can say is we will not be staying at this hotel ever again! The place outside the hotel is awesome and the staff in the nearby spar are absolutely fantastic they kept us going. Angelina if you are reading this, you are the most rude, contradicting and unapproachable manager we have ever met!

Where do I start. Firstly when we got there the woman didn’t understand a word of English. Took 50 minutes to check in and we were the only arrivals. Wasn’t told where to go or how to get there was just sent off. The hotel was so hot and on the booking form it said it had aircon. It did not. So we sweltered that night. The room was old fashioned and outdated and nothing like the photos on the website or that was advertised which was really disappointing. The blonde Lady on the front desk was nice and friendly and helpful although when we went downstairs to discuss that the room we booked was meant to have aircon she said we’d have to pay to move rooms and get the upgrade. She then give us a fan which did actually help. The pool area was nice and did seem clean. The maids didn’t change the bedding the whole trip and did not offer to give us new fresh bedding when we seen them a couple of times. They also didn’t leave new toilet rolls in the room. Cleanliness in the bedroom wasn’t the best due to not changing sheets etc so this was a big no no for us. The food was basic. Was ok really and there was something to eat for everybody at every meal I guess but it could have been better. I’ve been the same area on holiday for the last 15 years and this is the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. The kitchen staff aren’t friendly and the men that are in the kitchen or laundry room aren’t very friendly and are very intimidating. Worse experience ever.

Booked the hotel for me and my boyfriend and we absolutely loved it. However we paid for all inclusive and ate out every night due to there not being any nice food. You got paper cups to drink out of but if you bought it was a glass didn’t bother us though. The rooms are very big and spacious the beds are very comfy and you get a great sleep. Our view was beautiful view onto the both pools. We got charged €30 on arrival for u don’t know what didn’t bother to ask as they barely spoke any english. But i would definitely book again for probably self crating or room only, there is loads of restaurants with a sea view and everyone is so friendly.

We are a family of 4 and the whole place was appalling. The food was inedible. And whatever was left at lunch was what you were having for dinner. They catered for the staff. The staff had plates stacked with food. Whilst we lived on chips and salad. The photo attached is a pie which what I can only describe as they got the scraps from the end of the day and put them in a pastry. The day staff were lovely. The night staff lady however was rude, didn’t want to do her job and kept getting a blanket and pillows and sleeping on the sofas in reception. I got an earful at for asking for toilet roll as the cleaners didn’t leave any. There was never any bar staff on the inside bar, so you had to wait for the receptionist to come and serve you in between them checking people in. I got asked a few times to serve myself and the other customers at the bar. All inclusive people got paper cups for every drink even if you were sat inside. But if you paid you got a glass, even sat around the pool. They decided to turn on the kids water park on the very last day we were there. The ‘adults only’ pool had children in it constantly. It looks nice on the photos but it is in a derelict area. Would not return. The country is beautiful. This hotel however is not!!

You get what you pay for….
1. Food is ok, not child friendly really but definitely edible and always can find something to eat. Fizzy drinks undrinkable and only small paper cups no glasses at all allowed even for coffees. Not allowed to take food from the restaurant either or you are charged 10 euro per item. Restaurant very unclean floors tables cutlery plates all dirty. No ice cream on all inclusive either.
2. Not clean in rooms - buy your own products bathroom very unclean, shower didn’t work and no one would fix. Only had one working plug but sparks fly out of it. Again no one came to fix. No air con rooms absolutely unbearably hot
3. Drug dealers and drug taking at the bar in front of kids. Sniffing coke off back of hand, out of paper cups in front of bar staff and employees of hotel are aware but not bothered I don’t think
4. Staff not friendly toward British which is kind of everywhere now so not specific to hotel but definitely go out of way for different nationalities.
Overall ok as a base wouldn’t recommend as a place to stay by pool through day very unclean and pool is toxic with chlorine made all my kids sore so we went to beach instead very unclean around pool aswell not well kept at all.

My first hotel I stayed in was lovely then I arrived here for 3 nights and it spoilt my holiday.
Firstly trivago showed this hotel as air conditioned which was top of my list as it was a heat wave and I have a bad reaction to mosquito bites.
The rooms are horrendous, I have never been in such close proximity to other guests ever, opened your door and had to say hello to your neighbour. (No privacy)

On going for tea it was chaos, I queued politely everyone pushed in it was like a cattle market. No aircon and all the ovens were all on where you sit to eat which was filthy.

I went for a walk down down after tea arrived back at 10pm and I was not allowed a drink on all inclusive 🙃 this was not mentioned, all I wanted was a herbal tea to help me sleep.

Then the noise a kids disco at 10pm then the dj said music until 12pm. I wanted to go to bed. I thought spain had noise restrictions until 11pm? It was so loud everywhere was piecfull in s'lllot but you knew when you had got back to this hotel.
I decided to chill at the adults pool and 11 kids used this pool, swearing, water guns, footballs so chilling was out of the question.
The hotel just let's people do what they want, and the night time reception was very unfriendly.

When we arrived the receptionist was some what helpful however when we were given our room we were shocked. No air con but a fan on the wall which wasn’t even facing our bed. We had to re arrange the room to which the fan would then actually be facing us. A shared balcony with 2 other rooms which was not what we paid for. No plug sockets free for us to be able to charge devices except in the bathroom.
Cleaning did not happen but more so ‘tidying’ we stayed for 5 nights and not once was our bedding changed and we had to request clean towels and toilet paper at reception even after placing out our dirty ones for the cleaner to replace with new ones.
When asking reception for info on our transfer back, they did not speak but pointed at a code to scan. After standing there not sure what to do and explaining we were confused, they didn’t offer to help nor explain what it was we had to do.
Food was terrible with a small selection for each meal and two meals being the same selection.
Overall wouldn’t recommend if you want to have a relaxing holiday, however location is great not far from the beach and small town.

Firstly the hotel could be good if only, if only they put a little effort in like a fridge in the room, I have never been to a hotel in a hot country where there is no fridge. If only they could put a kettle in the room, if only the night staff were as good as the day staff, if only they could put somebody behind the bar to serve the customers rather than having to rely on reception staff to do the job. If only they could cater for all nationalities rather than catering for there staff, if only the food that they did serve was hot, not cold or slightly warm and cater for UK residents as they seem to cater for Europeans when the majority where from the UK . If only the lift worked all the time
