Louis Apostolata Island Resort impresses with its spotless rooms and commendable cleanliness, drawing attention to its attentive staff and the serenity infused with live entertainment. Guests have called out the well-maintained pools and the convenience of the shuttle service, though the infrequency of trips has been a downside for some.
While the resort's tranquil location offers stunning sea views, its remote nature and numerous steps have been noted. Opinions on the resort's value vary, with some questioning the quality of meals and amenities for the price.

Detailed Reviews
We arrived at the Apostolata Resort & Spa Hotel late on Sunday the 12th of September the staff thoughtfully left some food for us in the room since it was after 11pm. In the morning we were able to see the view through the French windows onto our terrace which was simply breathtaking with blue sky’s the Ionian sea and a wonderful salt water swimming pool (25m long according to my FitBit) for ours and the other 6 apartments use.
The room was well furnished with a large bathroom with both bath and walk in shower there was a room safe which was chargeable € 39 for two weeks(my only criticism) the hotel provided bottled water and a fridge and the room was kept clean with fresh towels every other day.
The food was of good quality and there was plenty of varied choices on offer, we also took advantage of the Ostrako a la carte restaurant option on two occasions which offered a change from the usual buffet meals. The a la carte option was reasonably priced and very pleasant. The staff at the hotel were all very helpful and cheerful despite the tourist season being reduced to just August and September this year and they all made our stay quite memorable. We would happily return here and would recommend this wonderful hotel to everyone.

We stopped at this hotel on a half board basis. Very spacious room with a panoramic sea view but I would suggest all rooms have a sea view due to the configuration of the hotel all facing the sea. Rooms have tea & coffee, kettle, fridge. The tea & coffee largely didn’t get renewed but the reception staff supplied additional on request. A safety deposit box was in room but at a cost of €3 per day. Each room also had a €4 Greek tax per room per day to be paid at check out. Beach towels are provided but require a €10 returnable deposit.
The hotel is hilly & to commute from the pool to reception or dining area largely involved navigating up multiple steps.
The pool was very large, clean with enough sun beds & the adjoining pool bar & lunch type meals was very good.
There is access to the sea at the south of the hotel but it isn’t a beach but ladder access into the sea.
Meals on our half board basis we thought were good but after 7 days was repetitive. If you were going into the adjoining town Skala you could take your evening meal at lunchtime which was advantageous.
A free minibus was available to transport guests to Skala which was 10 min duration away. Times were largely every 2hrs & the 12 seater bus was full at times but the driver would make a return trip. The last return bus back to the hotel was 17.30 but the local taxis were very reliable at a cost of €7. There was some very good local restaurants in Skala & we would recommend a visit.
A negative for the hotel was that you can book the A La Carte restaurant & at half board attain a 30% discount. We ate there on 17th June, ordered medium cooked Rib Eye Steak & it was cooked beyond burnt, which was very disappointing. We complained to the waitress who offered to reissue the meal, we declined to avoid the hassle but with hindsight we should have done it, was very poor. In addition the A La Carte restaurant was closed on Saturday for a wedding (which was very noisy) & Sunday didn’t open at all so booking is limited if there for only 7 days.
Entertainment was provided each night by the same man & woman & although are talented & work hard, every night is too much singing Greek & ABBA type songs, need some variety.
The staff are pleasant & work very hard, Roubini & Perilous are worthy of special praise.
The hotel is secluded with no bars or supermarkets in close proximity, so no leisurely walks.
Some areas of the hotel decor is tired (decking around the pool etc).
We had an enjoyable stay but would have been better to be located closer to Skala.

Myself and family have just returned home from holidaying here.
The Covid precautions the staff are taking is fantastic! Even little things like disinfecting luggage upon arrival, changing gloves when making the next persons drinks and bringing the towels in a plastic bag to ensure germs aren't spread. They are really taking it seriously which is something a lot of tourists want to see.
The staff at the resort are absolutely fantastic, they're up there with the best hotel staff I've experienced. A very special thank you to the general manager, Demi, Lola and the two Eva's, all were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us.
The food in the buffet restaurant is good, you can always find something to eat. At the moment staff are serving the food to you which again is a great Covid precaution. The À la carte restaurant is fantastic and well worth a visit! The restaurant only opened the day before we left but the general manager ensured we got to go on our last evening which was a great end to the holiday.
The rooms are good, we had a lovely view of the pool and sea which was actually a free upgrade when we arrived (we hadn't booked a sea view room) as they had spare rooms - another lovely touch by the hotel.
We had a really enjoyable holiday and honestly couldn't fault a thing with the resort - it was lovely.
Thank you for a lovely holiday and a massive thank you to the staff, you're amazing! We hope to come back and visit again!

We stayed at this hotel with another couple for a week in May (24th to 31st). We had a lovely trip.
We booked a seaview room with balcony on a B&B basis.
The room was large with two comfortable single beds put together (not an issue). The aircon in the room worked really well. We had a TV which had BBC World News but little else for us Brits but hey, we didn't spend long in our rooms! There is a safe which we had to pay extra for and a small fridge which worked well. There was plenty of storage for a weeks stay. The bathroom was a strange set up - a bath with a shower which had a window looking into the main room(!) and a 'wet room' which was partitioned off from the bath by glass panels which had the toilet and another shower - you had to remember to remove the toilet rolls and towels because everything got soaked, including the floor!!
The hotel is situated on a cliff which provides fabulous views but this does mean there are a lot of steps to get to the pool especially. There is a lift which is located next to the restaurant.
The restaurant provided a substantial buffet selection for breakfast on a daily basis (the staff looking after us were lovely). We did have an evening meal on our first night, this was also a buffet, very tasty but expensive.
The pool area was lovely and clean. Pool towels were available for a deposit of 10 euros each, returned at the end of the stay. The bar was a bit expensive so didn't stay there often.
We used the courtesy bus to go to Skala where there was a lovely beach and plenty of bars/restaurants to choose from.
All the hotel staff were lovely and very helpful.
Thank you Apostolata!
I would recommend that you don't just stay at the hotel - get a car, the island has a lot to offer.
At the end of your stay don't forget there is a room tax to pay which is currently 4 euros per night per room.

Dear Vansop, thank you for your comments and we are pleased you had a pleasant stay! Just to mention the room tax applies to all hotels in Greece and price is dependent on rating. We did not receive any information you had requested mobility assistance, so please take this issue up with your Travel Agent or booking channel, we always try to accommodate requests but none were received on this occasion. We hope to see you again soon. Best wishes, Guest Relations

Having returned from the lovely island of Kefalonia, we found this hotel not a five star as it states. However, it was very clean with beautiful views, requested & received a top floor quiet room, we also felt Covid safe.
We were in the Superior room which needed decorating & sealant around bathroom fittings.
Hairdryer was defected & I had to buy a Travel hairdryer at the resort.
No iron in the room, had to keep requesting reception for the hotel iron!
Safe in the room which you have to pay for.
We stayed B&B, breakfast was very bland, but, they are lots of Taverns & Restaurants that serve good quality food at reasonable prices, much cheaper than the hotel.
Hotel reception staff where very friendly, professional & efficient.
Gentle reminder - don’t forget to budget for your hotel tax, this hotel charges 4 euros per night, hotel bills you at the end of your stay.

We stayed here for two weeks on AI.
The staff in this hotel were amazing. They couldn’t do enough for you. A massive thank you to Demi at the bar.
The views were stunning. It was lovely to wake up to the sun set from our balcony.
Unfortunately the food let this hotel down. There was limited choice and the food was not good quality. Myself and family members were sick a few times. There are two different menus for AI and HB clients which we found unfair. Also AI costumers could not eat from the snack bar between 12:30 - 2:30. The snack bar menu for AI was basically pizza, salad, toasted sandwich and fruit salad. We lived off that for two weeks as the restaurant food was poor. We found ourselves eating out in Scala town on many occasions which we found to be unfair as the holiday was really expensive.
This hotel lacked entertainment. It was a man and woman singing and dancing every night. Unfortunately there wasn’t even a pool table for our teenage son.
This hotel has the potential to be a five star if they could improve the food, entertainment and fix broken tiles and decking around the pool.
It was however a very relaxing holiday at a great expense.

Dear echolocation, we appreciate the fact that you have written a review on your stay with us, thus providing us with valuable feedback that will help us to improve the service we offer to our guests. It is great to know that you are satisfied with the staff and the views of the rooms. In the main restaurant, which is a buffet style, the food served is the same for both AI and HB guests. At the pool restaurant there is a free set menu for the all-inclusive and a different menu for Half-Board for which you have to pay. All-inclusive guests can have lunch between 12.30-14.30 in the main restaurant and after lunch is over they can have a snack at the pool restaurant until 17.00. Snacks are also served at the pool restaurant for the all-inclusive guests before the main restaurant is open for lunch between 11.00-12.30. All the comments you have made regarding the aspects of your stay you were not satisfied with have been taken under serious consideration and we would like to thank you once again for providing us with all the information. Have a safe and pleasant winter. Kind Regards, Guest Relations Department

We stayed here for a week with three older children. The holiday was an Easy Jet package and I thought the whole value/flights/transfers were exceptional.
We resisted the delights of All Inclusive as we wanted to eat out in different restaurants each night and explore.
I thought the real plus points for the hotel were:
Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff in the restaurants, bars and at reception. They were not pushy but went out of their way to help
Breakfast selection pretty good (except for two points below) with, from a personal point of view, really good scrambled egg.
The pool is big and clean with lots of space; not to mention the great views.
The hotel was clean and although not totally modern, it was well maintained
Really good value for money and the lunch and bar prices were very reasonable
Lunch in the poolside restaurant pretty good and portions were big so sometimes we shared
There’s a free shuttle into Skala that ran about 5 times during the day and once to Poros
Finally the ‘beach’ which isn’t a beach but a secluded harbour/jetty was terrific. It’s quite a steep 5-6 minute walk down from the hotel that might not be accessible for all, but the crystal clear sea water is amazing for snorkelling. There’s plenty of sun beds and because the sea is very deep, it was magical diving off the jetty and rocks. If you are contemplating the rocks you need shoes and an adult to assess where is safe to jump.
Areas for improvement
The shuttle could run more often and into the evening. If you tried to get a taxi back after 9ish there was quite a wait.
2 aspects of the breakfast mark it down slightly for me. Firstly the quality of the coffee was weak and bland and secondly the orange juice tasted like strong cheap juice made with powder or concentrate. I always wish hotels made an effort with coffee and juice as it’s an area that they can often disappoint in.
Advice for others
If you want a hire car when you are here book it well in advance
Do the Zante day trip with Vasilimos Cruises from Poros … again book in advance and they will collect at the hotel and return you there afterwards.
Overall, would most certainly return to this hotel as the general food was good, the staff (and there were always lots available) were excellent and the sea swimming at the hotel was far better than anywhere else we went including the supposed best beach in the world on Zante that we visited.
Greece is a fantastic destination for a holiday. You never get hassled by staff in shops or restaurants trying to sell. They just want to give great service. Also the food and the sea swimming is spectacular.
I would also use Easy Jet again for similar packages.

Absolutely loved this resort!!
Was made to feel so welcome from the moment we walked in the door, we checked in so easily given complimentary bottles of water, our key to our room (806) and a young lad came to grab our bags and take us to our room.
The room was a suite with private pool, the room was clean, Spacious and beautiful. The views across the sea were breathtaking and missed waking up to the view this morning!!
The resort is built on the side of a cliff so is very hilly but we called the receptionist anytime we wanted to go anywhere and they sent a golf buggy to fetch us. This option is a life saver as hubby has a bad leg and a bad asthmatic so the golf buggy was amazing!!
We stayed bed and breakfast, breakfast was fine for me the usual buffet style of hot and cold food but hubby wasn’t so keen on it.
We ate at the poolside restaurant every single night!! The food was hot, tasty & delicious! Roubini the waitress there was absolutely lovely to us and made us feel so welcome every night, highly recommend here, hubby loved the spicy Greek sausages so had that pretty much every night I tried alsorts and it was all very good.
The free shuttle into the main part of skala is fabulous, but because it was coming to the end of the season 1.5hrs was enuff to explore, shop and stop at the bakery which was delicious. The bus drops and picks up at the same place and the driver tells you where you need to go to visit the town :)
The spa/jacuzzi was heaven too, I wish we’d booked into use it everyday but we didn’t, but next time(I’m sure we will be back!) we will try to book in everyday. Again the ladies in there are lovely so welcoming and offer complimentary bottle of water.
The little gift shop is lovely too and offers a wide range of products/snacks/gifts as well as hair plaiting, I had my hair plaited on the Sunday and it lasted till we got home.
Thank you Apostolata island resort and spa you made out first visit to Kefalonia amazing and we can’t wait to visit again

Having quite a few negative reviews before I went I was concerned. However we had a great week.
The room was bright and airy, very clean with great air con and a working fridge. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The balcony overlooked the pool and was surrounded by palm trees.
The staff were very attentive, happy, hardworking and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble.
We had booked half board, the breakfast was ample with lots of fresh fruit, cooked options and plenty of choice ….. including non dairy milk alternatives. I would avoid the very artificial tasting substitute for orange juice … was horrid.
The evening meal gave plenty of choice again, pizzas, meat and non meat options, fish. I would say the food was over cooked, but yr catering for a lot of people (maybe not a good enough excuse). …
Desserts on the other hand were amazingly good, plenty of choice and presented as an art form 😀
On the whole a great resort, plenty of sun beds around the pools, never too busy, spotless pools. And on the beach if you cared to walk down.
The resort is on a steep hill, there are quite a lot of steps to walk up … which got easier as the week went on. There is a buggy constantly oncall to take people up to reception or back to their rooms.
There is a free shuttle bus into and back from town during the day, a taxi back in the evening is 10euros, we opted for a taxi back to the airport as well which cost 65 euros but was worth it to avoid the hot, long stuffy coach journey.
Shout out to the guy on the pool bar always happy, played great music and was quite a comedian. The lady at the pool restaurant was so hard working but always happy and welcoming. The shuttle guy…never glum inspite of his repetitive work.
Also have to wave to Michael of Michaels bar in Skala I just love it in there.
Thanks all for a great holiday

The Apostolata Island Resort and Spa is located 4km outside Skala town, a picturesque place with a main street and lots of bars and restaurants, a small square and slightly stony and sandy beach which runs a good mile either way. The hotel is perched at the top of the hill, in a quiet idyllic cliff side spot with wonderful sea views. The hotel is made up of different levels up the hill, reception, dining area and pool areas. This involves a lot of stairs or use of elevators or for those not so mobile, but reception have a golf cart to drop you around the resort if needed. The pool is quite chilly but kept clean and the sun loungers are only retained when used, so there was no rushing after breakfast to claim one, which was great and very unusual. There is a spa, shop, gym, chapel, kids play area, tennis court and table tennis on site and a small area where you can access the sea via a steep path. The hotel offer a shuttle bus service to/from Skala several times a day and also a service to Poros. The hotel menu is varied, if in “All Inclusive” you can use the A La Carte restaurant once per week, as well as the buffet restaurant and pool snack bar. The staff are very helpful to accommodate all requests. The only downsides are the number of steps around the resort which can be exhausting and they would benefit from tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms, otherwise idyllic.

It leaves hotel at 10, 11, 1.30, 4.20 and 5.20.
Return is 1130, 2, 4.30 and 5.30.
We were there in May and thought these times could be improved to work better for guests.
There is a golf buggy that can take you from reception to the pool. There is no beach at the hotel, just a small concreted area, but you can get the hotel minibus to Skala which has a long lovely beach area.
There is a lift in reception which goes up to some rooms and the small restaurant and a lift near the main restaurant which goes to some other rooms.
If you struggle with mobility I would look for another hotel as there are steps everywhere due to the hotel being built into a hillside.
All inclusive typically includes everything right up untill your moment of departre from the hotel. If the wrist band is still on your wrist then yo uare part of the all inclusive (assumes they use the wristband method ofcourse)
I usually like cocktails, but the ones included on the very limited list here were not to my taste. I drank mostly wine as it was really good and some brandy.
I found most guests here were on half board so the bar was quiet.
