Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A confused place - room seems like a business hotel, absolutely sterile white style, good bathroom, bed, a TV with Netflix. So not that cozy or putting one in holiday mood. However there is a pool, and it seems to be patronized by families, including screeching children - no something I'd particularly care to experience on business trip. The pool was also absolutely murky, so I decided to give it a big pass. No breakfast option. Not many options for eating anywhere in the neighborhood. Overpriced as can be expected since it is practically the only hotel in that part of town after earthquake. The first impression was extra off putting - when I asked for a room (which I new they had), the receptionist started explaining that they don't really have rooms for peeps like me but cater to families or something. I was backpacking, but frankly not hat horrid and that was uncalled for. Basically not sure who stays in Bahia these days and why, the place seems like a ghost town, the beach at high tide is a tiny strip along the wall, totally packed with wood and stone debris - meanwhile there are splendid beaches in Canoa, Manta and dozen other places along the coast, at reasonable prices and excellent touristic services. This is a used to be place or maybe will be again, but right now a place to not consider.

Very comfortable and clean rooms. Walking Distance from restaurants and the beach. Secure place to stay with the family. We enjoy the area and the hotel overall. The hotel staff gave us assertive advise on places to eat and visit. Thank you!

I gave this a very good rating given what is available in Bahia and the staff at this hotel. There are not great places to stay in Bahia. So, you take what you can get. In a big city this would be an average or below average hotel. That said, you are in Bahia. The staff is the hotel is great. Young, helpful, smart and did I mention ready to help (with good cheer). Sure, it is a tired hotel, old style, old building, old rooms. That sad, you have good Wifi, good cable, decent A/C and an ok breakfast thrown into the mix. There is a pool (probably something very rare in hotels in Bahia). You have to recall that this town is still recovering from the earthquake - - so be thankful to have this hotel. I went from there to a fancy what would be called a fancy hotel in Manta, some 2 hours down the road. Still, I have fond memories of this hotel in Bahia, its location, the staff and the fact that everyone tries to make it work - - to make the most of what they have to offer.

This is a very nice hotel in Bahia de Caraquez. The rooms and restaurant and pool are all very clean, comfortable and the place is very well run. The staff are very helpful and respectful. The prices are reasonable. The breakfast is delicious. The beaches and restaurants nearby are plentiful and the area is more high end, but there was an earthquake a short while back and the area has visible damage. Still, highly recommended.

One night in a hotel is not enough to give a good review, but from checking in to checking out this was one of the most hospitable hotels I have stayed in Ecuador. Rooms and bathrooms are huge! Pool is clean and warm!

We stayed at Buenavista for a week of serving the community devastated by last year's earthquake. We worked constructing a house and held a medical clinic. Our days were exhausting and having a comfortable clean place to rest each night was great. The staff was excellent and courteous. You could tell they took pride in their work. It's one of the few places I've come across where they actually understand and believe in customer service. The owner, Vladir, has built and managed to maintain an oasis in spite of the crumbled buildings around them. He is a gracious host who welcomes you into his home and goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable. I look forward to going back.

I really enjoyed my stay at Buenavista Hotel! I appreciated to be able to speak English with the staff (which is really not a language that people usually understand in Ecuador) since I don't speak any Spanish. The facilities are of quality. The shower do have fresh water which was not the case everywhere and the room are nice. The swimming pool outside is appreciable and I liked the staff very helpful and careful to the customers needs. That is something that was really not that common in other places where I had the feeling to be forced to insist for everything.

The Buenavista Place Hotel is an oasis in the middle of a recovering village. The staff were absolutely superb, and the management were incredible in their efforts to make my wife and I feel comfortable and "at home"! We stayed three nights, then traveled to Manta with intentions to travel further south BUT we decided to return to the Buenavista Place Hotel for an additional two nights! To give readers an example of the outstanding hospitality, one afternoon we decided to take our bottle of wine and "plastic cups" and sit by the pool ... we had barely poured the first glass before one of the young staff members came rushing out to our table with two "crystal" wine glasses!! The service at this clean, lovely hotel is above and beyond!!

I had to stay in Bahía for one night. I received very poor and unfriendly attention from the receptionist. I needed one single room but he had double. I decided to take the double but they can be flexible and charge for single. He refused and he was very impolite. It is really a pity because Bahía needs tourism. I hope not to go there again.
