I travel a lot, and after 3 years with no overseas trip this turned out to be a disappointment.
The good: it looks amazing, it’s clean, staff are friendly (RCI Timeshare people are terrible). The gym is great, and there is no cost.
Not good: It's on a main highway 25 min from anywhere. The hotel beach is not great. You must walk cautiously for about 150 m through hard rock to swim in. As for pools, if you stay at the Mayan Palace you can only go to the one pool, no others, or beach clubs. Like the Titanic, there is a class divide, you see the great looking resort, but much of it is restricted.
The resort is gigantic, it takes 10-15 min to walk to the beach, once you figure out the path system which takes 2 days. You have to take trolley’s everywhere on the resort, sometimes they work well, other times it takes 40 min. You don’t get ocean views, you are in the middle of the woods.
Restaurants are ok, but again deceiving. Some are off limits to regular peasants, and most are closed by 5:00, so everyone is corralled into one general area for dinner. The atmosphere is nice, but the menu is limited. If you order ribs, a burger, etc., you get just that, zero sides with it, that’s extra. It tastes OK, but not what you pay for it.
RCI timeshare people are horrible. You arrive tired, they literally jump in front of you and harass you. They automatically sign you up for breakfast, when you decline, they state “I hope you get lost” on the way to your room …… true story.

My family and I had a great time staying in this resort. We enjoyed the food, the swimming pool, nature and more. The only mistake was to book a tour with "The tour agency" vendor which is located in the Mayan palace's lobby. I think that every service offered to members or guests in this place should be excellent too. we booked a tour to Cozumel all information given was great at the time of purchasing. The agent is supposed to inform that the driver at the time of picking people up has to make a tour to different hotels around the town. and also the car provided for the tour was an old 1900 jeep which was falling apart, noisy, no Ac, seat belts were broken, uncomfortable, and nests full of mosquitos inside the car. we had to hold a seven months baby without a car seat because they did not have one. Holding a baby all the way was not a safe trip. We were very disappointed. It is better to go by yourself buy your boat ticket and rent a car in Cozumel. It is less expensive and you also can get better food. This tour was very expensive. The second issue in the hotel was that we were invited to the famous member meeting to upgrade benefits which I was told that the meeting would be one hour but last all day. The Family can not wait for so many hours. The marketing sales team needs to be honest and keep their word on what they promised at the time of making their business. They can not pressure anyone about membership programs. I felt the pressure. I left from there overwhelmed. Just be aware of what will happen when you are invited to those meetings. thank you

We had a great time and LOVED the resort!

Excellent customer service from everyone especially Heber, Karla and Victor at the Concierge. Pablo and the Joy Squad have so much energy.

Resort is lush, stunning and impeccably kept! Housekeepers cleaned our room well every day.

2 bedroom Master Suite at the Mayan Palace. CONS: some items needed updating; pillows were kind of hard. PROS: beds were comfortable, tons of space, very clean.

Loved the respect for the environment. Wildlife wandering everywhere was incredible! Jungle pathways were beautiful and the boards posed no problems - no different than walking on a boardwalk anywhere.

Highly recommend: Mexican Fiesta night, Cirque du Soleil, Salum and Jungala. Jungala: recommend splurging for the Private Cabana Relax package - so worth it! Thanks to our excellent concierge Savi A.

We ate at a bunch of restaurant. I have a picky eater and everything we ate was delicious. One of our favourites: Salum where we had a choice from 4 restaurants.

Loved the size and the security of the resort. Some complained about the cost but it is a 5 star resort. I didn't find it any more expensive than other resorts we have stayed at. Excellent quality in everything we tried. We also added onto the tip if we had excellent service. The tip is included but it is only about 10%.

Excellent customer service, beautiful resort, very attentive to detail. Did NOT do the presentation - have done enough timeshare presentations to know they are never just an hour.
