Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not modern, not new, but clean comfortable facilities. Stayed in a powered site which was close to the facilities and plenty of room to manoeuvre a large campervan. Walking distance to the restaurants and bars. The manager was cheerful.

An older style caravan park but plenty of space and a very humorous and welcoming owner who gave us a discount on the cabin . The cabin was large and had everything inside, very clean and and not joined on to the neighbors . Not far too walk to the town down one road. Good stop over very quiet and friendly .

Greetings, I take it fellow traveller, that you are reading this because you are looking for somewhere to park up your rig . Well dear roadsters, I will let you in on a well kept secret that is the Gore Motor Camp. Okay, maybe not so secret but I don,t want too many people finding out about this place. To be honest, it,s certainly not five star, but all the stars you could ever request are just one step outside your door. Fair enough, cloudy nights, not so much. The facilities are dated but I found them all to be easy to use and everything functioned as it was meant. The showers are good and hot and although reasonably old are kept very clean, as is the kitchen. The camp is very handy to the beautiful central district of Gore, and even with my wobbly knees, I had an exhilarating and enjoyable walk on a frosty morning to the same, to have a delicious breakfast in one of the great cafes in Gore. I only intended to stay at the Gore Motor Camp for a couple of days but ended staying for twelve. I enjoyed the peace and relaxation of the camp and a lot of weight lifted from me in my time here. This is the type of camp that is typically kiwi, from a more relaxed era, to me, and I found the owner to be the same. This man was certainly never schooled in a certified hospitality training academy, but I am pretty certain that he must have a diploma in human nature. He may be a little rough around the edges, but he is very helpful, friendly and generous. Truly one of N.Z. fast disappearing gems. Thanks for everything LJ. You are one of the really good blokes. "onya mate". Well, there you have it from me, if you want a no frills, cheap, comfortable, relaxing, kiwi experience, then you will not find a better spot than the Gore Motor Camp. I might even see you there, as I know I will be going back. Catchya soon

My father was a long-term tenant at this motorcamp, renting a site for his caravan.
When he moved into alternative accommodation he paid a final two weeks rent for his caravan site, but ended up moving out after only one week. The caravan was removed from the site, but some possessions were left on the site - which he had paid rent for, until the next week.
When we went back later in the week to collect the belongings (before the rental period paid for expired) we discovered Guy Lloyd had taken them. Guy admitted to this.
My father asked for them back, and was refused. My father then asked for the extra rent he had paid to be refunded, which was also refused. Guy tried to claim that my father had cost him money, because someone wanted to rent that site (that my father had paid for, for another week) and couldn't because of my father's belongings.

Why does Guy think he can rent out a site that is already rented out?
Furthermore, why does he think he has the right to touch someone's belongings, that are sitting on a site that has been paid for? The belongings had not been abandoned - rent had been paid for that site.

A very disappointing end to what had been an otherwise happy enough stay.

The moment we arrived it looked like it was not worth staying, writing on door in a vivid with new owner number not even very nicely written. Finally got of someone was told where to park enter camp and I said to my husband we aren't staying it was disgusting muddy wet rude non helpful place. I drove straight out. So my advice don't stop here.

My family tried staying here and found the facilities to be the worst in all our NZ stays. Cold abolition blocks. No heating in the kitchen and mouldy toilet walls with a crappy shower. The owner was rude and a general smartass and place was very overpriced. Basically, just go across the road to the town and country club park. Much better, so much better experience!

Wow is all I can say. When My wife and I arrived we were met by an older man who seemed determined to get into an argument. He asked how long we wanted to stay and when I said one night he let out a gigantic sigh and started talking to us about his financial and family problems, when I said we were tired and just wanted to get the key he snapped and told us to "get the f#$k out I'm not renting you a cabin"

We went and stayed at a local motel which was far more pleasant and not much more in price for an evening.

Never happened as you never were here...But..You were issued with a trespass notice by the Police in December 2017. This is just retaliation and very childish One thing you have achieved though is that youve managed to insult the intelligence of anyone who reads this hogwash so you can at least feel good about yourself for a couple of seconds. seriously do you think that anyone here would be discussing financial or family matters with you ? By the way we dont have any financial problems here and when a tradesman that works here from time to time saw this his comment was Ïf youve got financial problems God help the rest of us as his last emailed account got paid in less than 10 minutes. Go bark up someone elses tree.....

Booked their 'self-contained' unit, which we had described to us as like a nice motel unit.
There is no website for pictures or information about what to expect.
The price changed between booking and arrival and we ended up an additional $15 - bringing the cost up to what we would pay for a nice Hotel. (We have stayed at the Croydon previously for less than this rate).
The basic cabin room was freezing cold on arrival and remained like that despite the heaters. The rustic 70's cabin is not likely to be insulated.
The cleanliness was average although there were signs everywhere warning not to leave anything up against the walls (presumably because of the damp). The shower flooded across the bathroom with use, and the 'self-contained' unit did not have an iron or hair dryer.
There was a very odd smell coming off the filthy couch and the bed had seen better days.
Worst of all was the interrogation and inappropriate comments by the boozed up and creepy owner/manager.
Safe to say we would warn others and definitely never stay here again.
Totally gross and not even worth half the fee.

JUST ANOTHER FAKE TA REVIEW. READ THE FACTS CAREFULLY. WHAT IS A "DYMP" ? CANT EVEN FIND THE WORD. The price never changed but the booking changed from 2 nights to 1 so surcharge was applicable and Gaz was told this by email. Basic cabin be damned..Actually not rustic 70`s but built in 2005 and fully insulated as per regulations for that time. Signed off by Council. Surely someone claiming to be a "NEW HOME CONSULTANT" would know that, which of course she did but chose to date it by 30 years. Freezing cold huh well actually 24th April 2017 was high 15 degrees sunny and overnight low 8 degrees. (data obtained from NZ Met Service). Army officer husband arrived at office approx 8-30pm to collect iron which are not left in Motels for obvious reasons. Asked if everything else was Ok and he said Yes no problem. Makes a mockery of her claim of being cold. One sign on that wall is there as a reminder to keep furniture away from painted surfaces. Interrogation Gaz claims....well whenever i stay at a Hotel or Motel I am required to give my address, phone numbers, car rego etc and that is actually a legal requirement just in case you didnt know . Inappropriate comments she claims, WHAT with her Army Officer Husband standing right beside her in the office. Oh yes both came into office on arrival and I did notice he came in ahead of her. I wonder if he has seen this review ...probably not. BOOZED UP she claims and I dont even drink and all this from Someone who FELL HEAD OVER TURKEY on her wedding day . Is there any end to her lies ? No there is not so now Im CREEPY as well. Ask Womans refuge why they use this establishment for thier victims of Domestic violence then tell me Im creepy. That is a very serious allegation. Dont call people names if you dont know the true meaning as that is not a defense in law. Please stay at the Lodge in future and pay $140 plus . We are still the least expensive Motel (especially for extended stays) in Gore. Very well set up with 40"flat screen TV, DVD player with complimentry DVD`s, free Wifi, Great HP gas shower in large bathroom. I did check the bed after reading this review and you will be pleased to know that it survived your one night visit and is in excellent condition. Totally Gross Gaz says...But no complaints from anyone else ever for the last 4 years Ive been here including retired airline pilots, long stay professionals from America and Australia who come here for Trout fishing sometimes up to 3 times a year and many others. In conclusion....I still have the first email from this person , SENT FROM OUR WEBPAGE AT HAPNZ and this is all it reads..."DO YOU HAVE A PHONE ? " I still remember reading this and seeing who it was from and claiming to be a NEW HOME CONSULTANT and thinking THIS IS TROUBLE and guess what...I WAS RIGHT.

Hoped to spend a few nights in Gore but we found the owner of this motor camp so angry and confrontational, we decided to bypass the town and carried on our travels. It was such a pity, as there seemed to be so many great things to do and lovely things to see in Gore, but our experience was just too off-putting and we fled. We ended up in Balclutha instead and had a lovely time.

Doing a donut on someones lawn in a 7 metre campervan is dangerous driving as there were campers in tents on that lawn. You came back out the same way you came in so I stopped you and asked what the hell you thought you were doing. When you took off I phoned the campervan company and reported your dangerous driving. Gave them the rego but they wouldnt give me your name but confirmed you were from a place called Auckland. Boy racer showing off to his partner..Youve just been awarded Dipstick Of The Year for 2018 so well done. If youre ever back in Gore come and collect your prize...we dont do trophys. Yes I know 2018 is still only halfway through but we feel sure no one will be able to eclipse your effort of stupidity so weve decided to hand out the award early.

We will NEVER return here after how we got treated by the crazy and rude owner.

We payed for one night at first and the man spoke to my boyfriend for nearly an hour about shooting people in the war - very weird and graphic from a complete stranger.

We had no interaction with him that day and the park was fine, nice facilities and good wifi throughout. We decided to stay a second night as I was ill and wanted to recover somewhere nice.

On the morning we were going to leave we were packing up when the man came cursing across the park towards us, shouting and just generally being rude. He told us that he knew it was us who had "made a mess in the kitchen" the night before (there were many people staying on the campsite - and what's more, we ate at the nearby McDonald's that night, and did not even use the kitchen) and telling us that "we may as well be German" because we were "so dirty".

A racist and downright insane tirade followed and he told us to "get going and take all your rubbish with you". We left immediately.

This place has potential to be lovely - the racist owner is unfortunately scaring away any customers. We will never be returning not only to here but to Gore as well.

Stayed June 10th and 11th 2017. Young couple from the UK driving a Spaceship Van . On arrival i observed the female smoking in the hired van which comes complete with Mattress and Bedding etc. In the space of 10 minutes she smoked 2 cigarettes. the boyfriend was in the office and he had noticed a book diplayed all about the history of Biggin Hill which my Father had flown Spitfires from in England from 1941 to 1945. He told me he had been there and told me about the Museum there. I had to re-initialise the Eftpos so he was in the office for around 10 = 15 minutes. we werent talking about shooting people in the war at all and it certainly was not for an hour. However there was one other camper from the UK staying the same nights and he was an SAS soldier so maybe she was confused as I had seen them in the kitchen talking to him. I gave the Guy some helpful advice about not to smoke in the Van as they could be fined when they returned the Van. I believe its a $200 fine. I observed the girl running around on the frozen ground in BARE FEET on 2 occasions, I had 2 complaints of smoke smell in the womens bathroom, was seen to exit the womens toilet without washing her hands. On the morning of the 11th I saw the state of the stove in the kitchen. Stir Fry and rice had been cooked the served on top of the stove with rice etc down under 2 of the rings. I walked to the van and as it was 10-30am i knocked on the door as checkout is 10am. The male came out and I asked "DID YOU ENJOY YOUR STIR-FRY LAST NIGHT "? READ THAT CAREFULLY. HE SMILED AND ANSWERED YES IT WAS GREAT. I asked them to clean up the stove which they didnt do. They left soon after. Racist comment about Germans didnt happen. I find Germans to be very polite and well behaved. Im also told that BARE FEET on frozen ground is a classic sign she wasnt only smoking Cigarettes. Go figure. I did phone Spaceship Vans after I saw this posting and they confirmed the couple were indeed fined $200 so probably blamed me and left this in retaliation.
