Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The location is just outside Gore. The property „comes“ with 2 very friendly hosts which are creating nice atmosphere and making you feeling welcome.
Great breakfast is been served and we enjoyed exchanging experience with the other guests at the table

We only stayed for one night as we were attending a wedding in the region, but the room was nice and comfortable, we would have been happy to stay longer!

Our hosts were very friendly and even drove us back into Gore to pick our car up the next day. Would highly recommend this B&B. Stunning views, lovely accommodating hosts, and a clean, luxurious room.

I randomly came across this wonderful place when googling for accommodation near Gore. Shona and Brian are fabulous hosts, and have a simply amazing b&b hidden away in the peace and quiet with a fantastic view. We highly recommend staying here, the accommodation and breakfast are both top notch, couldn't fault it in any way. Thank you for your fantastic hospitality and we will be back again when down your way!

Thankyou so much for the best sleep! Very comfortable stay and lovely hosts. I stayed while on the road for work and it was so much more comfortable and warm than a motel, room was warm and bed super comfy. Wifi excellent. I will be back 😊

Brian and Shona are retired farmers, long-time residents of the area, and have built a beautiful place overlooking the countryside just outside of Gore. The view from the B&B is absolutely spectacular and the setting serene. Their house is modern, stylish and beautifully equipped. Breakfasts were hearty and delicious. I traveled to Gore to flyfish with a friend who recommended Hokonui and was also staying there. I would also recommend Hokonui to anyone who needs accommodation in the area. Brian and Shona are delightful and most gracious hosts who truly enjoy what they are doing. They go far out of their way to make sure their guests are well-cared for and informed about the area.

We were looking for overnight accommodation for our Wedding night and as we were getting married in Gore we decided we did not want to venture far.

Following LOTS of research I found this wee gem! Hidden in BEAUTIFUL landscape with the Hokonui Hills to the left and overlooking the Croydon Valley, this B&B was absolutely stunning!

I went to inspect the rooms and found a lovely, tidy, intimate room upstairs with ensuite which was perfect for our first night as husband and wife. I commented on the amazingly landscaped grounds and how they would be perfect for Wedding photo's and our hosts -Shona and Brian were most happy to accommodate us should we wish use their grounds, so we did!

Shona and Brian were very friendly and most welcoming. The next morning we came down for breakfast and were treated to a vast array of continental and cooked options!! It was absolutely lovely to be in a picturesque setting that is close to Gore but far enough away for that quiet, intimate, country feel. For amazing views, hospitality and value for money I HIGHLY recommend you stay here!!!

We've been lucky enough to stay in some great places, but none has ever prompted me to write an accommodation review before now.
We stumbled across Hokonui through the power of the internet on our way down from Queenstown at the end of March, booking a 2-night stay to rest up and re-pack on our travels. My husband, myself and our son had the wonderful room upstairs and, like many other reviewers, felt really adopted by Brian and Shona. We played snooker with the neighbours, admired the wine collection and wondered how we were going to try and get the bed back to the UK after very possibly the best sleep we'd had - EVER!
The hospitality, welcome and wealth of local knowledge made the stay all too short and we would recommended it to anyone. Hokonui means high point and it really was the high point in B&Bs. I don't know when we'll be back in New Zealand, but if we are; we'll be heading to Brian and Shona's.

Only a few kilometres from centre of town but a wonderful delight and very clean. Plenty of room and very reasonably priced. Shona and Brian very pleasant and obliging people and will even eat breakfast with you or share a Drink. There is an Aquatic Centre down the road with a hydrotherapy pool for those aching bones after driving. Very relaxing experience.
