Detailed Reviews
We had a superb three night stay at Cape Kudu this past weekend. The hotel is very serious at sanitation and safety with regards to its COVID-19 protocols, and the rooms were spotless and comfortable. The common areas around the restaurant and pool have beautiful views. Be sure to take advantage of happy hour from 4-5pm. The boat trip to Phang Nga National Park and the northern tip of Yao Noi was included in our stay package and was better than a tour we had to Pak Bia from a different hotel. Most of all, though, the service was what made this an exceptional stay. A special shout out to Nicky in F&B and Ben in Guest Relations! We miss you already!

Superb in every way! From the moment you arrive at the air conditioned welcome lounge at the pier to the moment your leave your feel cosseted and spoilt . We loved this hotel and stayed for 4 nights but could have spent another week there as so relaxing and wonderful hospitality. Ben and Antoine in particular are super friendly and helpful and a lovely ambience. The rooms are beautifully appointed (only minor criticism would be better coffee both in room and at breakfast). Rooms at this level of hotel should have a Nespresso and at breakfast I needed to order an Americano with a double espresso to even taste like coffee! A bean to cup machine like our previous hotel would have been ideal. This was however the only thing I can comment on and would have given up coffee entirely as so fab! Our first evening we were also given a turndown sweet treat and fresh water was delivered in the evening too. Housekeeping staff extremely pleasant and everyone courteous and smiling.
The food at breakfast was varied enough with good local dishes, salad, fresh juices/fruit and delicious pastries. Also an egg station to order omelettes and a roti station. We were lucky enough to be staying over a weekend so also had manager’s Thursday evening cocktails and sparkling wine for breakfast on the Saturday and Sunday. Ice cream from cafe Kantaray also superb and the macarons we got as a leaving gift show Antoine has extended his French influence well!
Happy hour every evening was perfect to watch the sun go down (you get sunrise from hotel not sunset but light changing was pretty). The view is just stunning and I could have watched it and the swooping hornbills for hours.
We rented a Scooter from the hut outside and was brilliant fun and highly recommended. The roads are super safe. We didn’t have time to eat on the hotel for dinner but it looked delicious and keenly priced.
Would go back in a heartbeat!

This hotel is situated in a lovely location, beautiful views of the sea and our room also had lovely views. They fall short of being 5 star at the smallest hurdles which would be so easy to fix but yet don’t! On our first evening we had dinner in the restaurant and noticed that they were playing a Christmas carols playlist - ok perhaps just a mistake. Then the next day around the pool, again Christmas carols, so we went and spoke to the staff who said yes sorry we all know but it’s the only playlist we have?!! By the end of our trip it was starting the drive us a bit mad! We went for a couples massage at the spa and again, the Christmas carols playlist!! We wouldn’t mind but this was the most expensive hotel we staying at during a 2.5 week holiday to Thailand and when you’re paying western prices you expect higher standards. The actual hotel is lovely and most of the staff are friendly and welcoming - the food was good. The Thai dishes were much better than the western dishes which are prominent on the menu and are a quarter of the price. I feel like for the price a transfer should be included from the koh Yao noi port to the hotel, this is an additional charge and when you’re paying a lot you would expect it to be included - the hotel could include this easily as they have vehicles but don’t (unless you pay more). Also the staff are quite strict with a lot of things breakfast is served until 11am and we went down at 10.45am after a very long journey from the UK we were rather tired. On arrival the lady said I could have breakfast as it was finished, I said it finishes at 11am to which she replied you have 14 minutes!! They had already started packing down a lot of the breakfast, if breakfast is served till 11 it should be available until 11. All in all a great hotel with a perfect setting but could do with a few tweaks.

Thank you for your very reasoned account of your stay with us at Cape Kudu Hotel, Koh Yao Noi. We will certainly look into the Christmas Carols issue. Being a relatively intimate property with only one restaurant, our staff work hard to ensure that Breakfast is served until 11 a.m. before starting the lunch service at 12. However, we do sympathise with your particular circumstances and we will make sure that, should the situation arise again in the future, guests are directed to our branch of Café Kantary where coffee, pâtisseries, snacks and light meals are freely available all day. We thank you for your input which is received in the spirit in which it is intended and we hope to see you both back with us in the future for a further relaxing break. At Cape and Kantary Hotels, we actively support SOS Children’s Villages and the Thai Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. We do not serve foie gras, birds’ nest or shark’s fin in our restaurants and we also stand firmly against the exploitation of Thai elephants for commercial or entertainment purposes. The room here are very nice and the pool room a lovely. But if you book a long time on advance with cancellation. It can cost you 50%. For what we paid you get much better hotels in the uk with better service. If we had paid nearer the going rate it the rooms were the best part, food was average compared to local restaurants although not too expensive. It has very little outside space and there is little effort to sell you any drink by the pool, but if you ask you will get served. Some staff were excellent others not so good. Had to ask 3 times to book a resturant and can. The view is fabulous and there are plenty to good local eateries. Island is lovely and quiet.

Dear 440JeremyF, Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent visit to Cape Kudu Hotel, Koh Yao Noi. It is always difficult to respond to comparisons; they are ‘odorous’ as Shakespeare’s Dogberry would say! It may be that, around the world, one could make some favourable comparisons and others less so. I am sure you will agree, though, that there is nowhere the scenery of spectacular nature that you can see in this part of Thailand. Regarding the shortcomings of service, we take your point and appropriate remedial action will be put in place. We thank you for your good grace in mentioning the local food scene and the relaxing aspect of our situation and we hope very much that those factors may contribute to your returning in the future. At Cape and Kantary Hotels, we actively support SOS Children’s Villages and the Thai Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. My husband and I stayed in this lovely 5 star hotel for two nights in January and longed to stay more. The staff are welcoming and go out of their way to ensure you want for nothing. Our Deluxe Seaview room was bright, clean and having a quirky beach charm. I loved the extra touches - like the beach basket - and the swinging chair on the balcony where I could sit and take in the stunning view over the bay, dotted with islands. The staff booked a 4 Island long boat tour for us which took us snorkelling among colouful fish in the bay. We also booked transfers with the hotel, which although more expensive took the headache out of having to negotiate the travel details ourselves. This was perfect for us as we had such a short time on the island and just wanted to relax and enjoy it. The hotel also has its own waiting area at the warf so you can relax in air-conditioned comfort while waiting for the boat to take you to the island. The location, with that dreamy view and being so close to the water and restaurants was ideal. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection and the restaurant and pool area also has stunning views of the bay. At dawn the sky turns orange and the islands emerge gradually out of a sea mist. There are also hornbills living in the trees. Even after we left the hotel and reached the airport one of the hotel staff was there to help us get our luggage to the correct terminal with a minimum of fuss. Thank you Cape Kudu. My stay on Kho Yao Noi was the favoutite part of my holiday in Thailand.

Nice hotel, clean and pleasant room with a good view. Staff very friendly and welcoming, good variety of breakfast served. We didn’t eat in the restaurant as decided to eat locally instead so can’t comment on that...but they made us a super cocktail of the month before we went out! We weren’t there much so suited us perfectly...beach across the road (rocky like most are on the island so prepare to be disappointed if you wanted white sandy!). Pool area small but just enough sun beds to suit, however we were out all day visiting places (rented a super cheap bike form next door every day) so only chilled out around the pool on odd occasion.

The photos on the website looked very promising and we were looking forward to our 5 night stay at Cape Kudu. The contact during the reservation went very smoothly and friendly as well as the organization of the transfer with the speedboat. Also during our stay, the General Manager and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was very extensive but you should not come at rush hour, better a little later to enjoy your breakfast in peace. In the evening it was nice to have a quiet dinner and the different dishes were delicious. Several times we enjoyed dining at the hotel.
Our room on the third floor had a beautiful view of the sea, a large balcony, very comfortable bed and everything you needed was there.
What we personally thought was a pity that the domain was built too full. The private villas in the garden take up a lot of space and therefore the space for the swimming pool, the restaurant, the bar is rather limited and gives it a cramped feeling. In addition, all this is on the road, although it is lower, you can hear the traffic.
But what disappointed us the most was the general condition of the hotel. The whole world has suffered from two years of Covid-19 and tourism has had a rough time, but a hotel of this standard should make sure everything is well painted and everything works.
Hopefully now that tourists are coming to Thailand again and money is coming in the management will provide a thorough makeover and then it will be worth 5/5 again.
Thanks to the whole team for a pleasant stay !

I have been to Cape Kudu 3 times since October 2019. The hotel offers amazing local experiences that even Thai like me found them interesting. Staffs are really helpful in recommending places to go and eat. Most importantly, hotel view of islands is so stunning and different in times of a day. Here is summary of my things we should not miss at Cape Kudu.
1. Fish farm trip: The trip started around 4pm and we went to Bang Need’s fish farm by boat. We can see how local people earn a living and learn about marine animals from Bang Need who explained about various marine lives and allowed us to get close to or play with them. After fish farm, Bang Need took us to Koh Nork, where we can enjoy beautiful beach or hike to see top view of islands. The trip ended at Laem Haad at Koh Yaoyai, where we watched sunset.
2. Floating breakfast at Koh Hong: My trip started at 6:30am to watch sunrise. Anyhow, you can choose to start later. The lagoon, which is normally crowded during daytime by tourists, was empty and not too sunny, and we could enjoy time of ourselves. Cape Kudu prepared so much breakfast than we need. After Koh Hong Lagoon, the boat took us to snorkel or swim at several points around Koh Yao and Koh Hong area.
What I am impressed is that the hotel facilitated us by contacting local people for these trips without any additional charge; we pay directly to local people. I heard from my friends who stayed at different hotels that trips offered by some other hotels on Koh Yao Noi are overpriced.
3. Koh Yao Ta Ton Do Restaurant: Seafood here is very delicious and authentic that we went to eat here everyday. The owner is very friendly and gave good recommendations about activities on Koh Yao Noi. I recommend to ask hotel to book in advance.
4. Chilling on the beach: Good place to read books, enjoy the view and relax. Paddle board and kayak are also available.
Thank you Cape Kudu for great experiences and hospitality. I will definitely come back.

Stayed here for 1 week of our Thailand adventure, and were sad to leave. We had a lovely sea view room, set in tropical gardens on a very traditional Thai island. A cosmopolitan mix of guests of many nationalities which added to our experience.
The hotel staff are wonderful, the manager Antoine is totally hands on which I liked, and his staff seem to respond to his leadership by providing a first rate and friendly service. Water is available daily by the pool, and bottled is provided in the room. Fresh pool towels are supplied daily too and the sunbeds are very comfortable.
It's not the cheapest place to stay in Thailand, but you get what you pay for and we believe we had excellent value for money at Cape Kudu. I can't think of anything that disappointed me, the breakfasts were plentiful and delicious, if you fancy a bit of nature spotting the Hornbills are plentiful in these parts, spectacular creatures in their natural habitat, wonderful seeing approximately 50 one very early morning!
Plenty of good eating places nearby, all within 10 minutes walk, also massages are close to the hotel.
Would definitely return to Koh Yao Noi, and wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again, I thought it was fantastic.
