Chevin Country Park Hotel & Spa is certainly a unique destination with a distinctly Alpine feel and the hotel itself happens to be the UK’s largest log cabin. Built from imported Swedish logs, it stands at the shore of a small lake, surrounded by birch forest, interspersed with log cabins. Tiptoe through the woods to your Executive cabin with outdoor hot tub, or opt for standard log cabin accommodation or a self-catering suite with kitchenette. Standard rooms and executive rooms with lake views are in the main hotel and this is also where you’ll find the free Wi-Fi (which doesn’t cover the rambling 44 acres of forest.)

My wife and I spent one night at this location for our wedding anniversary. The staff were very pleasant and obliging, nothing was too much trouble. For a three star hotel the food is surprisingly good and reasonably priced. We had a very nice evening meal followed by a hearty full English breakfast the following morning. Sadly the rooms are a bit of a let down. We stayed here three years ago and the accommodation was looking tired then, sadly it seems that nothing much has changed since then. I would have thought that lockdown would have given the owners the perfect opportunity to carry out a substantial refurb of its bedrooms. I doubt we will stay there again until this happens.

Things not good first. The bedroom was small. There was only one bedside table and bedside light .Slow service at dinner one night and breakfast also. Shower not powerful and took a while to heat up. Now for the good things. The staff were welcoming an helpful from first "Hello" and the food at dinner was very good with enough choice for most people. Breakfast also had plenty of choice. Our room was fresh and clean. Sitting on the terrace enjoying a drink was very pleasant. We didn't use the Spa or pool. All in all we had a very enjoyable 2 night break and we will be back, maybe later in the year or next spring.

Stayed overnight at this place and was very disappointed with the accommodation. Rather basic especially for the money. Everything seemed to have been done to the minimum in room equipment and cleaning and also greetings at the reception. Breakfast was again minimalist in choice which was disappointing. This place is one good reason to holiday abroad. I would not recommend and definitely will not be visiting again.

As a non resident we have had a better experience than the other reviewers... We came for the three hour use of facilities : indoor pool, indoor hot tub, sauna, steam room, gym, outdoor hot tub, teepee, plus we ate Sunday lunch at the Lakeside restaurant and following the three hour spot we ate an evening meal. The only thing to watch for is that the evening menu for non residents is reduced to a choice of bar meals(which are very good) whereas you'd get a wider choice of menu as a resident- most residents get one of the packages which usually includes dinner. Pool is lovely particularly when there are less people, steam room is ultra hot and humid and the sauna is fab, from jungle heat to desert best, lovely. Staff are almost all new, many are students, all seem very friendly. Service can be slower than expected. The place itself is in need of some TLC, a lick of varnish and paint and maintenance, it has probably become in need of care due to being left unused during the pandemic. Beautiful woodland, birdsong, wildlife, teepee is good also for relaxing. Felt very invigorated after using all the facilities(bar gym) which were to our liking. Only drawback this time was an overbooking of people so there was a shortage of loungers or a wait for the hot tub, your drinks etc staff were very busy with all the customers, perhaps more staff at needed? The other thing is that due to all the backlog with weddings the place remains open daily to them so we haven't yet visited when there wasn't a wedding taking place ....loud music until the early hours which travels across to the teepee area across the lake. Having less people in the place would make it more relaxing... The grounds are really lovely, haven't been round all the area as yet...but will explore more on our next visits.
