The Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa offers a range of amenities that delight numerous guests, including diverse dining experiences and engaging water activities, all within its prime beachfront locale close to the airport. However, opinions on the atmosphere are divided; while some revel in the lively entertainment, others find it disruptively noisy. Accommodations are frequently cited for requiring modernization and improved soundproofing. Despite the hotel's commendable cleanliness, the value proposition is questioned by many who feel the cost does not align with the services rendered, and while the staff's friendliness is often lauded, inconsistency in service quality has been noted.

We have been to Hilton Rose Hall several times. This time was a quick trip and this resort is perfect for that since it is so close to the airport and the resort itself is easy to get around.

The rooms are certainly dated and can use some freshening up, but they were very clean. The common areas of the hotel also could use some maintenance. A set of stairs at the lazy river pool was broken and they just had yellow caution tape around it. The pier which used to be nice to walk out on (especially to see the sunrise) is also closed off with caution tape.

We rented a cabana because I didn't want to play the chair game, and it definitely seemed like lower occupancy since there were ample chairs. We did see several families reserving chairs at multiple spots (beach, waterpark, pool), which was obnoxious because there were plenty to go around and you could just move around during the day. Shanta, the cabana server, was wonderful as always, but she could use some help. She was responsible for serving ALL the beachfront cabanas which is a lot!

Our butler Alphanso was absolutely wonderful and made our trip. I was on the fence about getting a butler, since we had the cabana reserved and didn't need the butler to save our seats for us. I am so glad we did. Alphanso made our dinner reservations which was a huge timesaver for our short time because people were waiting hours for dinner. Alphanso also checked on us often, getting fresh towels, got the kids fresh coconuts and refilling the cooler with more champagne. He even managed to get us jerk chicken when the jerk hut was out. He anticipated our needs, which is always nice, not having to ask. He was just the happiest person too..even though we had already said goodbye, Alphanso met us at our transport back to the airport to give a hug and say goodbye again. We will definitely request him next time.

The food was good. Jason, our server at the rum factory was very friendly and helpful. He brought us an extra dish (oxtail ravioli) even though we did not order it and it turned out to be the best meal we ate all week. Seaside Italian was just so-so, and while Three Palms is formal and pretty, I'm not sure it was worth the upcharge ($40 pp, $20 pp for Diamond members).

All in all, we really enjoyed our trip, special thanks to Alphanso for making it extra special and relaxing!

We stayed here for 2 weeks at the end of May and had the best time! Don't believe all these moaning reviews - yes the rooms could do with a revamp, but it doesn't make the hotel any less enjoyable, for me it's the staff who make this place what it is.

The grounds are beautiful - highly recommend a 6am walk on the beach if you have jet lag (like I did!) the beach is small but very nice, and the sea is so warm!!!!
Bit of seaweed, but didn't bother us that much, the pool areas are lovely and Mangoes serves one of the best burgers I have ever had, along with many other delicious dishes.

All the restaurants we ate in were nice, I particularly liked Moonstone which is a Pizzeria by day and then Asian restaurant by night - the Jerk Hut is spot on as well, don't miss it! And make sure you try the chicken tenders at the poolside bar inside of the chicken nuggets at Mangoes, they are soooooo much better! The coffee shop was a hit with everyone and is well worth a visit, and let's not forget the good old Cricket Club where the kids can play pool / foosball / computer games, great little hang out when it rained.

There is so much I could say about this place to recommend it, but the by far the best part has got to be the staff - particularly the poolside entertainment team - Britney (I love you!), Jordan and the girl with the short hair in my pic (I'm sooooo sorry I can't remember your name, but you were AWESOME!) Big shout out to the lovely girl from kids club and the guys serving around the pool - Kermit, Nathan, Steffon and Aston, WE LOVE ALL YOU GUYS!!! They were without doubt the best staff you could ask for, so much fun and great with the kids, we had some really memorable times with you and will never forget this holiday.

I can easily recommend this location to anyone ( July 23 rd - August 1st ) its a easy location to get , its about 20 minutes drive from the airport and very secure all around with good sensible security . The fridges are restocked everyday and we loved having jerk chicken , Jamaican patties which come in beef chicken and cheese . We loved the cheese the best with cold red stripe beers. Not all the cabanas were available for what we reserved for the beach so bear this in mind due to past hurricane. The pools and lazy river is fully operating though . I would advise that you book whatever things you can book ahead example restaurants , excursions and so on. We did book privately for our airport transportation which was perfect . We skipped the public shuttle pick up since our flight was long we didn't want to be in Jamaica . We also arranged the excursions with the same company Top choice Jamaica Tours or TCJ Tours for short . I found the service to be the best we used in any island and highly recommend them to anyone .

For the bathrooms you have full size bottles for everything you need . Cleaning ladies are the best and if you need something extra just ask them . There are games nightly entertainment ice cream shop coffee shop and enough variety I believe for any family size . Its not full at the moment either . The grounds are well cleaned and beautiful i enjoyed seeing the sun rise and sun set .

You may notice the age in the location and it might need some love so i took a poin for that . Overall its really easy to get to what you want general staff mood is pleasant and the food taste great . I would say our family enjoyed our dunns river falls experience as well off the resort and it was a pleasure coming to Jamaica .

I first stayed at this property many years ago for wedding and had fond memories of the beautiful views and delicious food. The good and the bad is that not much has changed over time.

The staff is what made our 6-day stay palatable. They were kind, engaging, and go so far above and beyond to provide a level of care and support during our stay.

We had 3 different families, all coming and going during different times over the 6 days, and the over all rave review is for the food. It was consistently good across the buffet, and 2 restaurants we were able to book reservations for. We were collectively able to enjoy the beach, two different pools and took advantage of the water sports. The staff is fantastic and made the trip!

The downside of our entire trip was the facilities. My family alone wound up in three different rooms. Our first room had inconsistent water in the shower, making it nearly impossible for a family of 4 to bathe. The first response was we will send an engineer to look at it. When the engineer came, he said there was an issue with the pump on site, and they were working on it. 24 hours later, the issue persisted (this is now day 3 of our stay without a consistent shower). When we asked for another room, one of the desk agents' response was that they were "Optimistic" and that the next room would not have the same issue. Room number 2 had the remnants of a previous guest's festivities all over the tub. On to room number 3, where we got 2 days of steady showers until the water problem emerged again. This time, when the water came back on, it came on scalding hot. Thank goodness it happened to me and not one of my kids!

It is only because of the overall staff response and food that this is not a one-star review. The property needs substantial updating, refurbishing, and consistent cleaning protocols so that there is consistency across the property. The staff work too hard to have a sub-standard environment, and guests are paying for a quality that, quite frankly, did not exist.

Our multigenerational family of 9 traveled to the resort to spend Christmas together, and our experience was in line with what others mentioned. The hotel is not up to date with general renovations and maintenance: the walls in our room (and in several places throughout the hotel) were in need of patching and paint, there were multiple roof leaks (large leaks in the coffee shop and circular staircase), and stained furniture in our room. Hotel rooms typically have at least an armchair or love seat as a small seating place. If you are traveling with a family, the only place to sit is on the beds. Not ideal after being on the beach or at the pool and waiting for other family members to shower.

While we found that the wait staff at the pool and the restaurants and housekeeping staff were very friendly and responsive, they were definitely understaffed. I'm not sure if this was a result of the holidays and trying to give people time off or if they don't have enough staff. At the Seaside Restaurant one night, the hostess was also cleaning and bussing the tables, as well as waiting them!

The same was not true of the front desk staff. The check-in and check-out process was extremely slow, and they seemed to be irritated any time you asked a question.

There were also disconnects between various staff teams. For example, we were informed before we arrived that we could make dinner reservations one day in advance. However, when trying to book the reservations, we were told we had to purchase a bottle of wine in advance in order to make a reservation.
Although we purchased bottles of wine, the wrong wine selection was recorded by the restaurant reservation staff. This resulted in confusion during the dinners, and necessitated the issuing of credits and re-charges.

When we arrived at the hotel, there were people in the lobby holding iPads who asked for our names in order to 'start the check in process', and who told us that they would introduce us to our 'VIP concierge' once we were checked in. We initially assumed that they were front desk employees who were indicating the order of arrival and initiating the check-in process.

After going through the check in process at the front desk and returning to one of these staff members, she repeatedly asked what activities we were interested in and told us we could get coupons or discounts for activities. It turned out these discounts were in exchange for attending a hour and a half long breakfast. We eventually walked away without committing to anything, and figured out that the people holding the iPads were Playa resort employees. We spoke with other guests who experienced this and we all agreed that it was disingenuous and a hustle.

We will not be returning to this hotel and would not recommend it to others.

Overall, the resort was good.
The beaches are narrow, so no locals wander and heckle the guests, which is nice!
And the vendors that are on the resort property didn't make a nuisance of themselves.

The golf course right next to the resort looks like it's part of the property, the way that the images are presented. But when we attempted to walk over to the old arches, the security guard notified us that if we went any further, we'd be leaving the resort property & they couldn't be liable for anything that might happen to us. We went anyway, and nothing happened. But I was a little disappointed with how we were presented info that wasn't accurate.

The beach is split into 2 sides of the restaurant, a rambunctious side near the pool & a quiet and relaxing side amongst the palm trees.

Pretty much all the food we had at all the restaurants was good. The lobster that was available for an extra fee was a large lobster & was worth the price, in my opinion. (The only restaurant we didn't try was the steakhouse.(

The rooms were clean & sufficient. I only spent time in my room when I slept, otherwise I was outside somewhere.

Let me start by saying that you’re in a beautiful location with easy access to the ocean, pool, and great weather. Naturally, you’ll have a great time at the end of the day. However, my experience at this Hilton fell short of the Hilton standard and didn’t justify the value.

1) Restaurants: The restaurant options were limited. You could only make reservations at the Steakhouse, leaving three other restaurants (Italian, Asian, and Rum) open each night. Even if you arrived 30 minutes before opening, you’d still have to wait over 90 minutes. The buffet was a decent option, but it would have been nice to have a night at a restaurant. Vegan options, especially for lunch, were also scarce. The two main quick options were pizza and jerk chicken/pork.

2) Playa Club: They’re heavily promoting their vacation brand and time share (Playa Brand). When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and offered a welcome gift, which was essentially a discounted service on their property, like a spa. However, when we went to claim the gift, we were told we had to sit through a 90-minute session on Playa Club. This was deceptive and felt like they were trying to sell us something we didn’t want.

3) Pool Organization: The pool area was chaotic. There was no seating arrangement, and there weren’t enough chairs. People would leave their towels for days, leaving few empty seats for others to use. This often resulted in towels being abandoned, creating an unsightly mess.

On a side note, there was a power outage for about 4-5 hours, which made it impossible to use the elevators. This made it a real challenge to get baby food up to the 7th floor. To make matters worse, the water was also out during this time, leaving the bathrooms unsanitary.

Lastly, the rooms themselves were outdated and in need of an upgrade. They were old and didn’t meet the modern standards of comfort and style.

Dear tjb0202, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re truly sorry that your stay did not meet the Hilton standard you’ve come to expect. While we’re proud of our beautiful location and many amenities, it’s clear that several aspects of your visit fell short. Regarding our restaurants, we regret that the limited reservation options and extended wait times affected your dining experience. We’re actively reviewing our reservation process to improve efficiency and are working with our culinary team to expand our menu options including vegan selections to better meet diverse dietary needs. We also apologize for the experience you encountered with our Playa Collection. Our intention is to offer guests added value, and we’re disappointed that the welcome gift process did not meet your expectations. Your feedback will be shared with our management team to ensure a clearer and more beneficial offering in the future. We understand that the pool area’s organization and towel management can significantly impact your relaxation, and we are taking steps to address these issues to maintain a pleasant environment for all guests. Additionally, we sincerely regret the inconvenience caused by the power outage. Please know that we are working closely with our facilities team to enhance our backup systems and prevent similar issues in the future. Lastly, we appreciate your comments regarding the room condition. We are committed to ensuring that our accommodations reflect the high standards of Hilton, and your feedback regarding outdated furnishings and limited bathroom space is being taken very seriously as we plan future renovations. Thank you again for your honest review. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us continuously improve our guest experience, and we hope you will consider giving us another opportunity in the future. Best wishes,

The views are amazing but not everything is, lots of room for improvements needed. For example on arrival the wait time is too long when checking in, the time they take to process people checking in is too long, after arriving on a 9hours flight you still have to join a long line and it takes me nearly an hour to get checked in.

No toilet tissue in bathroom and no soap on my first day, i had to call reception to get it, and they take 30min to bring some toilet roles.

In the kitchen the staff are too slow to take you to be seated and too slow to serve you tea or drinks and clearing up. Staff not so friendly in kitchen, a few are friendly but majority are not, they look unhappy and serious, compare to other 4. 5 star hotels I've been they are not a 4.5 star hotel i would rate them 3.5 star. Staff needs to be more friendly smile and be more attentive.
Down by the jerk centre the staff there are okay, but the guys who gives out coconut are just doing it for money, the coconut are free but yet they are demanding that you gave them a tip, soon as you ask for a coconut to drink the guy saying its free but i need a tip because i have to climb the tree, when i say i dont have money on me, he didn't want to give me the coconut, this Hotel should not be 4.5, too many flaws, the soup in the buffet mostly are too thick or a bit burn, after 2days i was board of the foods. At the bars they got drinks and alcohol but not enough choices i think, i want Guinness or dragon or Malta or dirty banana and none of those was available, i had to buy Guinness or dragon stout in the gift shop, this is an all inclusive but i end up have to go shops to buy most things i like, they dont even give out steam fish, no crab, no lobster, come on the cost is so expensive to stay and not many drink and food i like, big up the guys on the beach who sail the raft and boats they are working really hard and make our day fun. i wouldn't go back here as i dont think i get my money worth.

Dear onielk1974, Thank you for allow us to host you and for sharing your feedback with us. We truly value your insights, as they help us identify areas where we can improve and continue to provide better experiences for our guests. We’re glad to hear that you appreciated the beautiful views and the hard work of our team on the beach. On the other hand, we’re extremely disheartened to learn that other aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. We take your comments seriously and are addressing several of the issues you raised. First, we apologize for the long check-in wait times and the inconvenience you experienced with room amenities. We understand how important it is to have a smooth check-in experience, especially after a long flight, and we are working on streamlining the process to reduce waiting times. Additionally, we are taking steps to ensure that our rooms are properly stocked with essentials from the moment you arrive. Regarding our kitchen staff, we are sorry to hear that their service did not meet your expectations. At our resort, we strive to provide warm hospitality, so we will address your comments with the team to ensure they provide more attentive and friendly service. We will also work with the kitchen to improve the quality and variety of the food, and make sure that all dishes are freshly prepared to meet the high standards of our resort. As for the staff at the jerk hut, we apologize for the interaction you had. Tipping should always be at the discretion of our guests, and it is concerning to hear that you felt pressured. We will address this matter and remind all staff members about the importance of creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for our guests. Finally, we regret that our bar and dining options did not fully meet your expectations and will take your feedback into consideration as we evaluate our all-inclusive offerings. We sincerely appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. We are committed to making improvements where needed and hope that we may have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future, offering a better experience that aligns with your expectations. Best wishes,

Horrible front desk staff: Please avoid working with Ashley and Sharrika both if possible at checkin, or during your stay. Their lack of care, concerns and outright horrible attitudes will ruin your stay if you allow it which is sad being the property is indeed beautiful overall. They do not follow up with your concerns and gives attitude when you as a guest (Diamond member) reaches out.

Avoid Room # 453: It is molded, look up at the ceiling in the bedroom and the bathroom. The toilet barely flushes yet it’s NOT clogged but it just seems the plumbing needs updating being the water pressure is slow and low. This room should not be available to any guest and certainly not a Diamond member paying full price $539 a night for an Ocean Front. The rooms are not Hilton standard, not even at an Holiday Inn which is a lower level hotel.

Avoid Room# 259:
The balcony sits overlooking a large metal roof top facing other rooms with a very small side view of the Ocean if you look to your right from the side of your eye. I am paying full price for an Ocean View so I voiced my concern immediately after checking in to Shrikka at the front desk and her response was…it’s still a view of the ocean regardless..her attitude and lack of care was disgusting.
Keep in mind I am paying full price price for each room and simply asking to receive what I payed for yet the front desk staff including Ashley and Sharikka acts as if you’re asking for something free or something special…and they ensure to be undermining and nasty with their responses. How does Hilton allow such staff to work amongst their team is mind blowing. They need major customer service skills and remedial training.

Pros:
The Bellman staff: They all are welcoming, joyful, and always willing to help rather on arrival, during your stay or as you depart. The cold towel they offer is a nice touch of service while at the hotel entrance.

The Nightly Entertainment/Bars: The staff are fun, positive and caring. They make you look forward to each night.

Major thank you to Andre and Preston for always being positive, caring and easy to work with.

We spent 10 days at the resort over new year with our 2 teenage daughters and my father. Overall we had a great time. The resort is very clean and the staff are friendly. We had 3 rooms in the west wing, overlooking the pool. The only issue was that our room had an interconnecting door, and there was no sound proofing between the 2 rooms. Unfortunately the connected room was not occupied by our family and we were woken up at 4.15am by noisy neighbours coming home.
We booked all the restaurants successfully and went to all of the a la cartes twice. Moonstone was great the first time but not so good the second time. However overall the food was good. We also did a private birthday dinner in a beach side cabana and that was lovely, although the menu was limited and actually the food servings were far too big. We did a family photo shoot and got some beautiful photos and that also included some of the candid shots from around the resort and also the birthday dinner. The gym was great and my husband and daughter enjoyed playing tennis several times. The beaches were variable whilst we were there, so we sat by the pool instead but the staff work hard to clear any seaweed that washes up. The lazy river and slides were a lot of fun. Generally evening entertainment was good and the hotel put a lot of effort into New Year’s Eve. The band weren’t great that night and seemed to clear the dance floor, but the dj came back just after 11pm and got everyone up and dancing. An area to improve would be that a lot more seating is needed in the bar king frog. It’s a huge terrace but there were not enough tables. If the hotel added some comfortable sofas and low tables that would make that area a lot better.
Finally the wifi is terrible. You can get online but it drops out constantly and you have to continually log in all the time. The hotel have all the information online for restaurant menus and activities, they do have a couple of electronic boards up showing what is on for the day, but having everything digitally without the wifi to back it up isn’t great. I personally would have liked an old fashioned sheet of paper with everything listed out for the week.
Generally however we had a lovely break away and I think the staff have been very well trained and work really hard to give everyone a good time.
