My wife and I completed our 8th visit and 7th full stay at Iberostar Grand Rose Hall last week. Ever since our first visit - a 6-hour stay on a day pass during a cruise stop after joining the Iberostar Club in Mexico and wanting to check out the Jamaica property - we have continued to return because of the people who work so hard to give guests a memorable vacation.

The food selection and quality is a 5/5, the rooms, views, and amenities are a 5/5, the value for your money is probably a 4/5, but the people are a 10/5. So many people work so hard on long, hot days to maintain the grounds, the pool (shout out to Paul and Leonard!), the beach, the common areas, the lobby - something is always being repainted, cleaned, trimmed, or buffed at all times.

We love the resort and keep coming back, but it's not for the food, the rooms, the beach, or the sun, which you can find a lot of places. We keep coming back for the people below:

Pool bartenders Jerry, Travis, Cassandra, Maya, and Keresa we were very happy to see again, while new friends Randeno, Andre, and Shevaughn were people we look forward to seeing next time. They work very hard to keep drinks flowing and ensure guests are having fun! Pro tip: your trip is all-inclusive, but the staff appreciate tips very much.

Lobby bartenders Gary and the original Andre were great to see again - always friendly and careful to craft drinks exactly as requested by everyone, no matter the chaos in the lobby after dinner!

Kerry manages the bars and is an incredible person to talk with. We always look forward to seeing him, and he is always working to ensure all guests have an amazing experience.

For this trip, we sprang for an Ocean Front room with butlers who introduced themselves and through WhatsApp communicated with us each day. Jaime, Berris, Christopher and Rushane helped us throughout our stay with any minor items we needed, provided information on the day's events, and continually checked on us throughout our stay.

Unfortunately, we had to cut our trip short due to an emergency at home, and the team at Iberostar helped so much with our change in timing. You learn a lot about people when things don't go as planned.

As Club members, our Ambassador Cedric was attentive throughout our stay and went above and beyond when our plans needed to change. Despite being finished with his long shift, he continued messaging with me after hours to ensure we could fly home the next day and helped us make our arrangements to check out of the hotel early and have our transportation ready for us.

Thank you again to the hardworking group of people who always make this our favorite vacation each year. You are the reason we return and we can't wait for our next trip!

One love..

This was our first trip visiting Jamaica and my husband and I could not have been happier choosing to stay at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall. There were so many positive experiences and amazing staff that we encountered throughout our one week stay.
We had a late flight in and arrived at the hotel just after 10pm on December 29th. We were immediately greeted by Raheem at the front entrance. His infectious positivity and energy had a lasting impression on us. Mid-week, we met Sean at the front door and his attitude was just as positive as Raheem's. Throughout the week, both of these gentlemen were more than happy to help us out with any questions or transportation needs we had.
Our room was well appointed. We had an Oceanview room with butler service. Unfortunately, we did not make full use of this service as we were not aware of it for the first couple of days. As it was quite loud in the lobby upon our arrival, we may have missed that information. We are not frequent travellers so are not too experienced in having a butler service. The room was always well maintained but we found that there were many visits from a variety of people throughout the day (cleaning service, fridge restock, water bottle exchange, etc). I was impressed with all the little details they included to make our stay more memorable.
We took advantage of the spa by having a couples massage. Although we did not tour the whole spa facility to get a better idea of all that was there to offer, Mitzie and Jeanne (not sure of spelling) provided us with an amazing Swedish massage. My husband could not stop going on about how amazing he felt afterwards.
Unfortunately the weather was unseasonably cloudy and rainy for the first few days of our trip but we were still able to take advantage of the pool and beach area. On the nice days, as with most resorts, it is a good idea to stake out a pool or beach chair with one of the towels provided. Leaving a personal item as well (book, sunscreen or sunglasses) ensures that the towel does not get picked up for cleaning. There are so many people to mention that had a lasting impression on us. Deivy, the activity coordinator did a great job at providing for a variety of activities such as beach and pool volleyball, horshoes, dancing lessons, water aerobics, friendly competitions of football and basketball toss. He also organized the nightly activities. Unfortunately due to the weather, several of these had to be modified and were presented in the main lobby. Respect to all of the employees who walked around informing, recruiting and encouraging everyone to participate. They were not pushy at all and even stopped to chat with you If you wanted to.
Trimaine, one of the lifeguards was extremely personable and never missed an opportunity to say hello as we walked by. Travis at the pool bar was an amazing mixologist always making the perfect drink. They do not shy away from making strong drinks at any of the bars but will modify to your liking.
The food at this resort is some of the most amazing food I have ever had. The buffet and the a la carte restaurants offered a huge variety and I was very excited to see that they provided vegan/plant-based options. Whether it was the fruits and veggies for me or the oxtail, goat curry or seafood for my husband, everything was amazingly fresh. I want to give a shout-out to Kenloy who served us at the Galleon restaurant. He was so polite and was a fantastic server.
Overall, an absolutely amazing experience. Iberostar truly hired the right people at this resort. Everyone was respectful, courteous, helpful and genuinely seem to enjoy what they do. I will definitely be recommending this resort to others.

Family trip from 1-7 January. We have good experience of all-inclusives - having stayed there for over 20 years. Tried various packages and locations. Have developed rigorous criteria. I have to say that the Joia Rose Hall ticked all the boxes and exceeded our expectations, not least because of the exceptional quality of the food served. We were on the adults-only side: traffic was proportionate to the site, you didn't feel oppressed, there was no need to run at 5am to reserve a chair by the sea, there was plenty. Very pleasant, friendly and attentive staff. Impeccable service everywhere, from reception to room service, maintenance and entertainment. Magnificent rooms, spacious, clean and regularly serviced (2x a day) for sheets/towels. By the way, as Iberostar is an eco-responsible company, it would be nice to offer the option of indicating a less frequent change of towels and sheets... to save energy, water and soap!

We had booked a room with a view of the swimming pool, but from the 2nd floor you also have a partial sea view, and the 3rd and 4th floors are even better! So ask for a higher level for a better view. No nedd to pay extra for an ocean view. Large private balcony - you can relax in your pyjamas in the morning! As for the restaurants: the French restaurant (queue de langouste...), the steakhouse (memorable ribs), and the Italian (everything must be rated 5 stars) really stand out. The Japanese restaurant with the chef in front of you is OK - we've had better - the Jamaican is very good at lunchtime - great variety of dishes that change every day. In the evening, however, the dishes were overcooked, dry, and the lobster tail had been reheated I don't know how many times. That was our only downside of the week. We'd been to see 1-2 menus on the hotel-family side and it's more ‘American’ - pizza, chips, etc. We were not tempted... we prefer fishes, fresh food, fruits, healthy diet. and we had plenty. Apparently the Greek is good... As with all all-inclusives, the alcohol is decent... weekday wine.... but you can buy more upmarket stuff if you need to. The morning buffet is very, very varied, with gluten-free options, and the products are very fresh. Overall, great beach for walking, superb sea... albeit with a bit of seaweed at the bottom. Iberostar should hire ‘plastic squads’ ... to collect the plastic debris washed up by the sea. There's a lot of it and it makes us aware that we have to do everything we can to prevent plastic ending up in the ocean. There are some itinerant sellers but they are not insistent. Marijuana vendors too.... you can sometimes smell it as you walk around... many tourists use it. But it's not very disturbing and doesn't happen every day. In short, a memorable stay that exceeded our expectations. Thank you to the entire Joia team.

1. The staff – starting at reservations and ending when we hop on the bus back to the airport – all of them;

2. The beach - from the great towel service, quality of beach towels, quality of beach beds, plenty of chairs, shade and room, and most of all no loud music from the pool – just right;

3. Food and Beverage – breakfast buffet is one of the best of any chain resort; lovely lunch atmosphere with great selection of food and dinners are excellent as well. We have adapted to the night buffet only on open certain nights so we work around and always get a table at the a la carte restaurants that are open when the buffet is not. Drink selection and preparation is excellent with many choices. House wine is good as well.

4. Cleanliness – while the resort is older it was originally built with quality materials and this place is kept so clean and polished – you will always see someone cleaning somewhere at all times.

On our most recent stay, over Christmas, we again experienced what we have come to love here. Aside from everything being perfect, the highlight of this trip was that JOIA put on the best Christmas Buffet dinner we have ever experienced anywhere (and we’ve been away every Christmas for over 25 years – except during the COVID year). Unless you were there you would not believe the food selections and atmosphere they presented. And, seeing all management out and about mingling with the guests was impressive.

Honourable mentions this past visit to Nadika (front line) and Basiene, Teresha and the Front Desk staff (for our room and their approachability), Oneikia (room attendant), Andreas, Clive, Gary, Jerry, Shevaughn and Amanda (lobby bar), Karl (bellhop), Keresa, Garnet (from beach/gardening), Judy (newly appointed Restaurant Mgr) and Kenoya. Not to forget the ever pleasant David (overall Resort Mgr) who goes out of his way to say hello. I’m sure we missed a few but we’ll catch up next visit.

After 12 visits here we just keep booking again.

Thank you JOIA!

The trip was nothing less than amazing from the time we arrived until we left. The little things that I will mention are for improvement not a deal breaker. On arrival it was a little confusing when you are told about the breakfast and presentation like it a requirement. I had 4 rooms and a few of them didn’t have the same items in the rooms. My room had no soap, bag slippers etc. I had an ocean front room with the butler, so should have been stocked. All of our butlers were amazing we had a few, Chris and Jamie stood out and were very kind and accommodating. Housekeeping did a great job with keeping the rooms cleaned and the turn down service was an added touch. I ordered room service one time and it never came. I called 2 hours later and I was told it will be 10 minutes more but it was over 30. The mini bar/snacks were not refilled daily. I had to request it and even then it took almost 3 days to get more chips. I notice some items were out of stock both on room service and in the restaurants. Overall the restaurant staff were very nice and offered to help and cleaned the dishes as we finished. Plenty of food and drink options all day long. Renee that worked poolside was very friendly and kept the drinks and water flowing. The check out process was easy even though I had an item on my tab that was not charged until I was all checked out and waiting on my shuttle. I checked out an hour early since I had 4 rooms and the cake was bought on day 2 of 7 so should of been on my tab. Again this review is for improvement definitely not a deal breaker.

We visited Jamaica via cruise so we bought day passes for the JOIA Rose Hall. Our passes included both breakfast and lunch, access to the Star Coffee, Wifi and we could use all of the installations and join the activities, except for the spa (which was extra).

The hotel is beautiful, everything was clean and tidy. When we visited there was plenty of room to lounge around, you could use the cabanas (first come/ first serve), hammocks or the huts by the beach (again first come/ first served). They included pool/ beach towels and they also have showers.

The food on both breakfast and lunch, was delicious, lots of options and also a section for Jamaican food.

They have 3 pools and the beach was clean, no seaweed. The waves were calm. There were a few vendors standing by but they wouldn't bother you, they will just wait for you to approach. Overall, it felt safe and quiet.

If you stay at JOIA you can also visit the other Iberostar Rose Hall, but we didn't have time. I would love to stay here and spend more time.

Short review answer is yes wonderful place to stay . The place is large but it doesnt feel like it . We love Caribbean islands but first time to Jamaica . We had been ignoring coming due travel restrictions in the past . Room 5126 was giving us the best ocean view we had in a while so just in case you need help look for that block location. The music and entertainment is a great 5/5 i will also not forget smiley and bubbles . Food options are great and if you can afford the extra for the butler do it as it enhances the service . You have enough food options and the other sister properties are they if you want to see them but they cannot visit the Grand section. Our group was not big drinkers but the pools and bartenders were great . Arranging private airport transport to and from the airport was surprisingly easily we got in touch with tcjtours there service was also top notch great drivers clean vehicles and very friendly . They went above and beyond for us Chris was great . The general service from all the workers at the grand was exceptional and positive vibe people treat you like they knew you forever . I would recommend a visit here again .

My wife and I just spent a week at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall for our twentieth anniversary and couldn't be happier with our stay. The facilities and food were all wonderful, but the service we received from the staff is what really stood out.

Everyone is incredibly warm and friendly, happy to answer any questions or stop for a friendly chat. We were frequently asked how we were enjoying things and reminded by whoever we happened to be speaking to that they would help us if we had any requests or needs.

I especially have to mention and thank Sharon in housekeeping. From the moment she introduced herself to us, Sharon was as much a friend to us as a housekeeper. Friendly, funny, with a beaming smile and kind words for us every time we saw her. She left our room immaculate and every day we'd find her little personalized touches, whether it was flower petals or towel sculptures. Sharon makes her guests feel like they've known her for years. She's an absolute gem!

The rest of the staff were equally kind, friendly, funny, and gracious, despite us having less frequent personal interactions with them. A special shoutout to Jowayne for bringing us to the cat sanctuary you can visit(THEY HAVE A CAT SANCTUARY!!!).

The resort itself is fantastic. The restaurants are all worth dining at and the buffet has terrific variety, including vegan options. Service at the restaurants was great as well. The pool, outdoor areas, and the beach are very well maintained and are fully wheelchair accessible.

We'll be back as soon as we can and plan to bring friends. Worth every penny.

For years my husband and I have been returning to the adults-only Rose Hall Iberostar Grand (now JOIA) for a winter escape to "tropical paradise." Our children and grandkids love staying at the adjoining Suites (now Selection). We keep coming back for many reasons: the hotel is gorgeous and immaculate; our stress vanishes as we lie under a palapa by the crystal clear, azure water of Montego Bay; almost every day is sunny mid-eighties; the beautiful rooms come with a spacious balcony with a basket swing for two! But it's the welcoming, gracious, accommodating staff who make our stay extra special. I have to single out TARAH, the lovely young Jamaican woman at the lavish breakfast buffet who starts my day with her radiant smile and the most delicious smoothie ever! (Later in the day I'll have the popular "J Smile" cocktail on the beach.)
Sometime after a late lunch at Port Maria with its breath-taking view, we join our kids at the Suites for family time in the pool or lazy river or for the many other fun activities there. We all love this special week together making lifelong memories.

My husband and I stayed in Iberostar Grand Rose Hall for 6 days in November.

We picked this hotel based on our experience at the same brand in Punta Cana, and I have to say it did not live up to our expectations.

The hotel is located on a lovely beach and has nice common areas.

Weather in November was perfect and swimming pool was a nice alternative to the beach, although there was loud music playing during the day and there were a lot of groups parting.

Food was of good quality, I recommend contacting the hotel prior to arrival to ensure you get reservations you need as restaurants book out very quickly.

We made a mistake assuming that buffet restaurant would be opened every day but this wasn’t the case, and we were left eating Italian at 9pm (not a food we would chose to eat in Jamaica or the time we would eat at).

The concierge was pretty useless in making reservations and more interested in selling us timeshare.

The service throughout our stay was inconsistent at best and you never knew if you would get what you ordered.

Our room was spacious but very dark and definitely needed an upgrade. Cleaning teams were also inconsistent, with towels and glasses often not being replaced.

Overall we had a pleasant stay but there were a lot of service aspects that needed to be improved.

Speak with your ambassador or butler and see if they can arrange a reservation. They are mostly first-come, first-serve. The resort does have a "no saving chairs" policy; however, it is not really enforced. We found that a lot of guests were saving chairs in the middle of the night. I tried not to jump on that wagon, but after not being able to have at least one lounger for the first few days, I began saving a chair with a towel and a personal item. If you choose to do that, use a personal item that you wouldn't care if it was stolen or lost. But I would start with your ambassador or butler as I mentioned earlier. You can also chat with a lifeguard. I noticed they were saving chairs for guests as well. Hope this helps, good luck!

Just an add on you said "steak/lobster" just to make sure you know that there is no lobster serviced in Jamaica from April 1st until July 1st by Jamaican Law to allow for the breeding season.
