Detailed Reviews
We have just spent two nights at The Hexagon, our second Canopy Camping experience. A 15 minute walk up the hill got us to this peaceful, secluded site. There was a gorgeous view, and the facilities were as we expected.
Highlights .... Cooking in the outdoor kitchen (great coffee cups and wine glasses supplied 👍), the outdoor shower and the fire bath, the keruru, tui, weka and other bird-life being right there.
We were able to walk to the Fox River Market, definitely worth the effort if you're here on a Sunday. There were certainly other options for walking, and exploring the beach.
We had such a relaxing stay, and found Jed to be a wonderful host. We will certainly be recommending The Hexagon highly.

The hexagon is the perfect romantic getaway. It is located secluded in the rainforrest, so you will be all alone. A 15 minute walk from the hexagon there is the most beautyfull beach. However it is unlikely that you will want to leave the hexagon even for a little while. The hexagon was the highlight of our trip, better than even helihike in the glacisers, the tongariro crossong and hot springs in roturoa.
Jed and his daughter Daisy are very nice and they gave us a very warm welcome. One of the absolute highlights of the hexagon is the outdoor firebath.
Surprise your loved one With a stay at the hexagon and he/she will never forget it.

We had a fantastic stay at the Hexagon. Jed is a really friendly host and the accommodation is perfect. What a brilliant way to relax. We loved waking up to the sound of birdsong and crashing waves. It was totally private and some great walks by the beach.

The Hexagon is a must if you're travelling up the West Coast of New Zealand. A quiet, off the beaten track quirky place to stay, my fiancé and I very highly recommend it. We were first met by Jed, the very friendly and helpful owner, who helped us carry our bags up to the Hexagon; about a 10-15min walk up from the road, but boy is it worth it! On arrival Jed showed us around the site and instructed us on how to use the kitchen, shower, etc and set up the fire for inside and also the hot tub. Yes, that's right, an actual fire under a bath tub. Brilliant! We were very lucky with the weather and had a gorgeous sunset to watch from the balcony before enjoying a hot tub under the stars. Amazing! We then rustled up some grub that we bought (you need to bring your own food and drink from Greymouth or Hokitika as there are no nearby shops) and had a lovely BBQ dinner. The fire kept the place warm all night as we snuggled in the really comfy bed. Waking up to the stunning views of the sea was fantastic.
If the Hexagon isn't free when you want it, change your plans for a truly unique experience. Enjoy!

What a great weekend. This place is completely off the grid. All you can hear is the birds singing and the sea. There is a 15min walk to get to this retreat but it's so worth it. Jed, our host was great and took all our gear up the hill for us on his quad bike. Way better than a 5 star resort. Highly recommend

We stayed in the Hexagon for 2 nights and it was amazing! The place is very well done with lots of cool quirks and detail. It had everything we needed and was a perfect treat for us as we are used to the non 'fancy camping". The hexagon is very well shelterd but still has amazing views and sunsets. Jed was a great host and there was plenty of walks and things to see around the area if you manage to force yourselves to leave! The outdoor bath was also a highlight!

We stayed at the Hexagon for 3 nights and it was the perfect getaway. I was skeptical about booking a holiday in winter but the weather was great and the outdoor fire bath and shower were perfect for taking the chill off. Lots to see and do nearby. Would not hesitate to stay again and will recommend to friends and family. Jed was a fantastic and helpful host.

Charming little hexagonal cottage up on the hillside, lovely views down over the beach and forest. Fire pit bath is a must try - just try not to boil yourself like a lobster! Bit of a steep slippery walk up the track to get there, I recommend borrowing boots. The kitchen is an outdoor covered area with tent walls, well appointed with pans and utensils.
Watch out for the weka at night!

Well worth the quick hike up the hill to get to the Hexagon. When you get there you will experience a little slice of Heaven. So peaceful and quiet apart from beautiful sounds of the sea and local wildlife. Amazing facilities, especially if you are used to non glam camping. Spend time relaxing at camp or exploring the West Coast then come back to camp for a fire bath under the stars :)We would recommend this to all.
