We stayed here at the end of our campervan trip. This was by far the most expensive place we stayed at (powered site) and when we arrived power was out (this was due to servicing of the lines and out of the parks control) There are heaps of native birds flying around so its a bird spotters dream. There is a drying room which was AWESOME and the showers were hot. The driers themselves were steep in price so use the drying room if you can. The place was SPOTLESS. Honestly it was super clean and tidy. The local pub served up good solid food and 30 metres down the road is a beautiful walk. This campground has a lot of plus's.

Stunning beachfront campground. walk to tavern, forest, beach, pancake rocks. It had it all at this spot. canoe the river. Sites are large.
Only complaints - the bathrooms were filthy. huge balls of dirt hung from the ceilings. Showers were flooded and you had to keep pushing the time button every 15 seconds.

The facilities were small, and definitely didnt meet any level 2 covid-19 distancing requirements. Three showers and three or four toilets in the womens facilities for well over 70 sites i.e about 200 people. I had to queue for toilet and showers every time.

But the location makes this worthwhile and i ll be back. I would like to see cleaner facilities and another amenity block to make the cost meet the facilities.

We loved this place. Stayed here for two nights in beachfront powered site. The setting is phenomenal and just across the road from the stunning Pororari River Track. One of the most beautiful I have ever done. Clean and tidy facilities, friendly place.

Reason for five stars: I dropped the cap of our camper toilet cistern down the sewer and they helped me retrieve it without a single word of complaint or comment on my stupidity. The guy literally had to get a sieve on a long stick and fish around in the sewage. It was such a relief when it turned up.

We will go back - not just because the managers are good people but because the setting, location and, most important to our kids, you are allowed to light fires on the beach:)

We booked and paid for two nights accommodation at the Driftwood cottage but could only stomach one night.
The cottage was freezing even with the two oil heaters supplied going flat out all night.
It smelt musty and damp, the mouldy curtains probably didn't help.
The shower was terrible with very little pressure to have an adequate shower.

I suggest the owner takes some of the profits from the past busy periods and spend a few thousand dollars on installing a simple heat pump, gas hot water, cleaning the curtains, replacing the broken window and maybe even a soap dispenser in the shower and some air fresheners. This I'm sure this would make for a much better experience for future guests.

Unfortunately the bedrooms back onto the main highway so if you are a light sleeper it could be an issue with trucks and general traffic going past during the course of the night.

Maybe one to avoid at the moment. Save yourselves $50 per night and stay in a quality Motel in Greymouth then take the short drive up beautiful coastal highway to Punakaiki which is a stunning location with great walks.

We stayed in a kitchen cabin for one night. The cabin was more spacious than expected, with a small bedroom and a fairly large kitchen/dining area. Equipment was pretty old.

The shared bathroom and kitchen felt well maintained. All in all the place had a really calm and relaxing vibe.

The site is situated on a really beautiful beach. It is pretty far to any grocery stores or any decent restaurant so make sure to stock up on food.

We stayed in a newly-built, tiny cabin by the river. It was modern and clean, however it lacked a few small things that would have made it so much more comfortable; hooks for clothes, screen/mozzy net for the door and railing/bench outside. We knew it was going to be a tight fit with three adults and would probably not stay that small again. The other facilities were of decent standard, however one female toilet had a broken lock and the showers had hardly any space for getting changed and again - not enough clothes/towel hooks.
Location was superb and the service too - the man on the bike was a delight to deal with :) Beautiful surroundings and all the vegetation makes it surprisingly private although it's booked out. Very friendly staff who had time for all our questions. We would definitely recommend this place for camping!

Hi there, Thanks for your kind words, we worked very hard to get these cabins and are happy how they turned out! Your points are all great points and have had a lot of the same ones pop up and will be right onto them! You can never have enough hooks! See you another time!

Of all the campsites we visited in New Zealand, this was certainly a favorite. The staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating of a late check in. Our spot had a picnic table and a reasonable amount of space. The washer was easy to use and detergent was available for purchase, there was even a place to hang clothing. The shower and kitchen facilities were also clean and user friendly. It is also nice that there are several different walks and hikes accessible from the campground.

After a very long drove it was an absolute pleasure to arrove at the beach camp. Like stepping back to my childhood, the camp was relaxed, low key and had a very friendly vibe. We stayed in a standard cabin which was clean, comfortable and warm. We did not have camping gear with us but the camp gave us a set of plates, cutlery etc and bedding. The facilties were all clean and easy to use and there is a great coffee cart for the morning. The beach is a 2 minute walk and absolutely stunning, there is also a river suitable for swimming.

We booked a family cabin for $108 and wish we had looked at it before paying in full as we ended up walking out after only 5 minutes. It was that bad that we decided to re-locate to a nice hotel down the road for only $80 extra. The cabin was way over priced for what you get. After travelling for 2 weeks 'backing our backyard' and staying in various holiday parks without any complaint, this was the worst cabin we had come across. The cabin smelt damp, the carpet looked and felt old and dirty and the bunk beds were very uncomfortable (have thin foam mattresses on timber slats). Everything about it felt yuck. It was hard to forfeit the $108 but it was worth it. The owner really needs to invest some money in these cabins. I would say they're only worth $50-60 max per night.

Hi there Queenstown91, Firstly thanks for your feedback, it always helps with our planning feedback. We have literally ordered the new carpet for these cabins, and is due to arrive just into the new years, so that was certainly on our to do list, and will be re done shortly. Mattresses have also been ordered and we look forward to upgrading this cabins very shortly. Regards PBC

The location is amazing but sadly this holiday park needs a really good clean up. The bathrooms and kitchen are grubby, maintenance and thorough cleaning is clearly not being completed. The staff are friendly and helpful. They have a coffee caravan there but their coffee machine broke at Christmas and they have repaired or replaced. The best option is to walk the two minutes to the pub which is great.
