We added an extra night to our Easter weekend and needed somewhere dog friendly. It was a hreat spot to stay. We got a room for 6 which was on the waterfront. Lots of room for us and the dog. Great hosts, very accommodating!

We had biked the Paparoa and we were going to stay one night but enjoyed it so much we stayed another night and it was no problem for the very friendly staff. We loved being so close to the beach and the units were very homely and clean. It certainly was a great place to stay.

This is an old Kiwi motel, clean and roomy, with a nice manager. Its behind a high sea wall, with no views, no beach: don’t be fooled by ‘beachfront’ . Room amenities are minimal: no tissues, a few soap chips, ‘on demand’ water heating in the shower - plastic curtain. These things are forgivable at the right price, which is $40-$50 less than current rates. The owners seem tone-deaf to their domestic market. Kiwis are smart people, they will figure this out. Near the end of a four week trip of the South Island, this is BY FAR the poorest value for money we have had. Its a pity. We won’t return.

We arrived early for checking in, were allocated a studio unit which was next to the main road and the driveway in front. The driveway was Shingle so we heard every car that came in, I requested a different unit as we tend to go to bed early this was declined. Unit was clean but old, The shower was very poor, we just feel that management could’ve been a little bit more helpful as most people haven’t yet arrived. No we would not recommend these units as a place to stay, we feel the $200 a night was over priced.

We stayed here as a family for two nights over New Years. It’s a lovely little place. Great base to explore the west coast and to go walking from. The local pub does meals which are pretty average and your better off taking food supplies with you as there isn’t any shops nearby. The manager was great and really helpful.
