Beautiful rural hotel with spectacular views in Vélez Blanco. Next to the Fajardo castle, and the Letreros cave. The Muela mountain rises right in front and is the first thing you see from the balcony when you wake up. The view is unbeatable. The entire hotel is rustic, as well as the rooms and the restaurant where you can enjoy a good atmosphere with traditional dishes from the region. The owners are super friendly and the food is delicious.
A big surprise. You can not lose this. Free parking in front of the hotel. 100x100 recommended.

Great quality food, amazing views and great service at a reasonable price. We started with razor clams, prawns and goujons and both had the grilled pork for main. The food was great but the star of the show was the chocolate fondant desert (which we came back for on a desert only date) another must try in Velez Blanco!

A really lovely hotel with stunning views from the bedrooms. The staff were extremely accommodating and the rooms were nicely decorated in rustic style and lovely and clean. Great place, I'd love to stay again, can't wait for our next visit.

The hotel is very close to the exit for Velez-Blanco from the A317 but it isn't much of a walk to reach the centre of town. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming; coped really well with my limited Spanish. The view from our room at the front of the hotel was amazing. There was a decent amount of storage space for our large luggage (this stay was part of a larger tour so we had a lot with us) but only a few hangers. The towels were very good quality and the shower gel smelled delicious, I wanted to pinch it all. We were told at check-in that the air-con isn't very good so they gave us two fans to supplement it because it was very hot. Frustratingly there weren't many electrical sockets and using both fans meant we were limited to use the TV or phone charger etc There was a delicious smell of cooking as we arrived and we were told it was pintxo night, and it was that, that I could smell. The food in the restaurant was very good and not expensive; we ate there both evenings. It is popular with locals too, Thursday was especially lively being pintxo night because they are included in the price of a beer. We only had two nights here and could have stayed longer. A guide booklet we picked up in the hotel described Velez-Blanco as being "in the shelter of Monte Maimon on the side of a hill crowned by a magnificent castle" the whole area is full of history from Iberians, Romans, Visigoths & Moors. It's a good area for enjoying history, nature, walking and bird watching. The hotel is close to the castle and it was easy to find some of the fountains from the Moorish period, and if you wish to visit a cave with wall paintings they will arrange for the opening with the curators I'm certain we will return

I'd have probably given a rating of three to this place but found out after our stay that it has changed hands (which was actually in the process at the time we were there I understand). On that basis any critical review would be unfair to the new owners.
The view from our room was nothing less than spectacular and it was comfortable and clean.
Yes we did have a couple of minor gripes (heating in the room not working and being forced to buy wine by the bottle rather than the glass). However, new ownership will most likely cure the little things that appear to have been caused by a certain amount of neglect prior to the changeover.
Despite those comments, the staff were extremely friendly and polite and it would be hard to fault the service. We would, and probably will stay again sometime.
We wish the new owners the best of luck and hope they are able to iron out the minor snags we encountered.

The hotel is situated on the hill side of the road entering the traditional Spanish village of Vellez Blanco. It is a good looking 3 story Spanish style building with darkish internal decoration. We had booked a night in advance but checking in was very slow. (checking booking on her computer, photo copying passports, etc., etc) Bedrooms were on 1st and 2nd floors with some at front of building with superb panoramic views. From the hotel plan and the hillside immediately behind the hotel any rooms at the rear must have very limited views. We had front room 104 which was at the end of the building. Other front rooms on that floor were numbers 105 to 111. WiFi was available free in the hotel but did not reach our room. It worked OK in the lobby and bar areas. Rooms 104, 107,108, and 111 had slightly larger balconies. Our aircon did not work. When set to Cool it actually heated. Fortunately during our visit the temperatures were not too high, however in summer this would be unacceptable. Our room was smallish, but clean, and the bathroom ok. The room had no chairs and we had to improvise by moving a bed and sitting on a small table to take in the view from the balcony. Completely unimpeded views over the sierras for about 20 miles. The village is long ( about 1 mile) and narrow with some small bars (open but very quiet) and signs to restaurants which appeared to be closed. We did not need to eat in the evening but the bar was almost completely deserted. No bar lists or menus were visible (even in Spanish which we can read). We had coffees which were excellent and cheap. The following morning our included breakfast stretched no further than the usual limited ham tostada and coffee, with no refills offered. Generally the staff were ok but a little uninterested. Again checking out was very slow as the invoice had not been prepared. We really enjoyed the view but the other failings were just too much to allow us to recommend this hotel. We recommend staying at Velez Rubio ( about 4 miles down the road) and visiting Velez Blanco once to enjoy the views.

We spent one night here - the staff are very friendly and the room was comfortable, clean and had a great view.
Due to the alte arrival, we ate in the hot6el restaurant. The hamburger was passable, and my girlfriends food was good, but cold. Don't eat the hamburger!

This is a wonderfully Spanish hotel with the most amazing view from the front. We booked a suite so the room was very roomy. The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful. Although none spoke English we managed with a little French and lots of gestures and smiles. Breakfast was really nice with great coffee and lots of refills. The village has the most wonderful castle which was free to get in. Just a ruin but very interesting. There was nothing much open to eat in the evening so best to check if going in winter.

Try their website. Just Google Hotel Velad Velez Blanco. Sorry it won't let me post their website on here.
It shows prices for children. It is a lovely hotel and Velez Blanco is beautiful. Ask for rooms that overlook the mountains. It is spectacular.
There are more places to choose from in the Velez Blanco area.
