Great campsite for an overnight stay. Sanitary facilities are beautiful. Campsite was wonderfully quiet. The only downside was the emaciated dog with a lame leg. I don't understand how people can let a dog suffer like this without helping her. Giving food is the least you can do or call an organization that takes care of the dog.

Incredible experience. The campsite is very complete, with 10 Bungalows, surrounded by nature and spectacular landscapes. Very calm and quiet place. The attention of Jesús and Cristina is unbeatable. Routes and places to visit, Vélez Blanco just 1 km. very special and to stay and live there. Of course to repeat a few times. Highly recommended.

An email through ACSI, the Dutch Campsite site and then direct to the Campsite and no reply.
Pilar del Rey's and ACSI's website said the Campsite was open.
We should have twigged that it was closed.
However despite all information it was Closed and we had a wasted journey.

It feels a little unfair to give Camping Pinar del Rey a poor rating as it is situated in such beautiful countryside. I booked on-line although it seems I should not have bothered as they seemed to have no record of my booking when I arrived. The whole site seemed very "Tired" and obviously needs significant investment to bring it up to an acceptable standard!
The service was adequate and the cabin we occupied was clean and tidy. As we were self catering the addition of a microwave would have been a welcome addition.
When viewing this site on-line many of the facilities listed were not available. The swimming pool was not available and was half full of stagnant water. The Bar and Restaurant were both closed and other facilities were poorly maintained or not working. This was not a problem for us but other people arriving with children were somewhat disappointed.

Just back from 3 nights in a bungalow at Pinar del Rey. The place is beautiful, a wonderful scent of pine trees and very peaceful. However the site does have a tired, run down feeling about it.
Despite being a big selling point in the promotion for the site, the restaurant was closed throughout (lack of staff) , the play area was unusable- broken and taped off, benches were broken, fountains half finished, the pond was derelict and empty - featuring 2 headless stone ducks and little else, there was no shop, or even a machine to buy anything at any point. Not a big problem - but when the place is advertised as having a bar, restaurant, shop and play area, it seems odd that none of this exists any more. Also no kids' activities or very much of anything at all.
The nearest town, Velez Blanco, is quaint, and not too far to walk. However be sure to take torches for the walk back as the campsite roads through the pine trees back to the bungalows are not lit - there were lights there, but as with many things they were not working.
The staff were kind, but very minimal, and the bungalow was clean and comfortable. Lots of dead wasps in the swimming pool, but it was still beautiful and almost empty.
All in all a beautiful area, and we enjoyed the local towns very much, but we left feeling disappointed in the campsite. It just feels as if Covid put an end to its potential.

The owners are a very friendly family, they are very attentive, the pool is well maintained, large and shaded, the kiosk gives game to drink something fresh after bathing, the bungalow has what it has to have, we will repeat for sure.
