Been here with a study group from Romania. If you are looking to be all alone and forget the outside world and forget about problems this is the place to come to. It is placed in a small village in Spain with a great view. The rooms are big and can accomodate 2,4 or 6 persons. The food is very good, I tried the calamari and they were very tasty and cheep! A ate a full plate with 4 euros!
If you are traveling this region you should stop to this place for one night just to try it out!

We arrived without having made a reservation and a little early for Spain, yet were greeted with warmth, and of course we could eat!
Lunch was great. Appetiser of cured ham, cheese etc, starter of a delicious fish soup followed by the most succulent leg of lamb. Dessert was various pieces of fruit, with a home made ice cream, red fruits, creme anglaise, caramel. It may sound a little bizarre but it was the perfect to the end of the meal.
Highly recommended.

Everything, the apartments, the family owners, the food and the facilities. The apartment was very well equipped and nicely furnished with large windows and a balcony. The breakfast was included in the price and it was very nice with fresh orange juice and plenty of choice. The restaurant menu gave lots of options of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. They also have a pizza oven using fresh ingredients. The restaurante was very popular with locals. There are lots of walks in the area and a swimming pool for the summer. Loved it, only 1 hour from the coast and situated in a National Parc. Velez Rubio and Maria are very close to explore. We will return.

At the price quoted our expectations were not high. An error, it was a very good choice. We wanted to visit the famous castle and nestled at the bottom of the hill by the small gorge of the river was the quasi Swiss style hotel. It is really an aparthotel as each room was a small apartment with full kitchen, range, utensils, refrigerator, microwave, etc. the living room had a couch and full dining table. The bedroom was separate but small in size. The living room with a balcony toward the plaza was a real treat in a cool early Fall evening. The outside pond with ducks and geese gave it rural feeling even though it was by small piazza that also served as part of the plenty of free parking space in a town where this is at premium. From here the look up to the castle is most stunning and at night with the light flooding it, romantic. The owners spent many decades in Switzerland and are fluent in several languages and are extremely communicative and full of information. The wifi does not work in the room but it does in the balcony. The breakfast, included in the price was simple continental style but with good coffee. The hotel operates an attached restaurant that is better than the average in town.

We ate here twice on a recent ten day trip. The first night we dined in for 3 courses the second night we got a takeaway pizza and ate it in the peaceful church gardens up the hill. Everything we ate was top quality and the service was outstanding from the 2 young male waiters to the couple that own it, they treat all guests with amazing attention. This place is a must for any visit to Velez Blanco!

We visited the area with friends, and found our way to El Palacil for lunch. We each ordered a main course, and our friend ordered a goat cheese salad as an extra. The portions of food were plentiful and very tasty. We opted for the lamb, which was amazing. Everything was fresh, with fabulous flavours. Service was great and the lady who served us asked if it was our first visit there (which it was) and she was patient while we practiced our Spanish.
Set in lovely surroundings with a beautiful view, we would definitely recommend.

We visited the Castile at Velez Blanco and after visited Hotel Palacil for lunch, this hotel is nestled in the lower part of the village and looks lovely with a duck pond and water feature, the menu of the day is 20 euros but it’s 5 courses and the food is very very good you will have great difficulty finding anywhere where the food is that good and I would recommend it to anyone who visits the area

This accommodation is ok. You get a small apartment with cooking facilities. Bed was comfortable with plenty of hot water. Having a restaurant is a big plus as it is difficult to get evening meals in some smaller towns out of season. The food here is good and even when the restaurant was closed to the public they made a meal for us. The owners looked after us well. We were here for 5 days walking and really enjoyed the area.

Had booke Hotel Velad Palacil but there was obviously a mix-up as they didn't accept dogs.
Instead stopped at El Palacil apartments for the night which in actual fact suited us much better.
We ate breakfast & dinner in the restaurant with the dog. Both meals were excellent.
Plenty of walks.

Having visited El Palecil Restaurant many times over the past 7 years. We have always had a most enjoyable experience. From the friendly smile at the door, to the fabulous food, excellent wines and courteous service. Highly recommended. A lovely converted water mill in a breathtaking setting. We have also stayed in the apartments on occasion. They are most comfortable and a great base to explore the surrounding areas
