We stayed here for one night during a trip to Legoland Germany. The hotel is located in a rural, residential area and would have probably been impossible to find had it not been for our GPS - there was just one very small sign off the main road to the hotel. I had emailed the property to book and was very impressed at the friendly, prompt replies (it does help to speak German though!). The hotel was very quiet, even though there were quite a few other people staying. The front desk is not always open - if you need to check in late at night you would have to make special plans for this, as it is closed then. They give you keys to the front door though once you've checked in, so you can come and go as you please. The hotel was very clean. The room was surprisingly big - we had a large double bed with bunkbeds for the kids. The breakfast was very nice and constantly refilled - though when they say it finishes at 10, they mean it - typical German efficiency!
We stayed there on a Monday night and spent forever trying to find somewhere to eat - everywhere was shut as it was half day closing - we eventually stumbled on a campsite (can't recall the name) with great food - we were so relieved as it was late and dark and we were hungry!
My complaints would be that there were no quilt covers or pillow covers on the beds, and the beds were not made - the pillows and quilts were beautifully piled up in the middle of the beds! We found this very odd, we don't know if this is the norm in Germany (do people bring their own sheets?!), but it was quite uncomfortable for sleeping. Also, it appeared that there were no curtains, which we were most upset about as we were on the ground floor. It wasn't until we left that we saw the almost unnoticable grooves on the side of the windows - they have built-in shutters - but you would never know that unless you were familiar with them in Europe - it would have been nice to have it explained to us so we could have had some privacy!
In general we were pleased with the hotel, but the two issues with the bedroom above were a major problem at the time. Perhaps you can learn by our experience!
This was one of the only hotels we could find close to Legoland which would accomodate all of us (2 adults, 3 children) in one room. I would stay there again, but this time I would bring my own sheets and know how to close the shutters - oh and not go on a Monday!

We stayed here for a trip to Legoland. We are a family of 4, and got a connecting room with 2 double beds and 2 separate showers. This hotel is located next to a corn field and although it's a nice alternative to staying at the resort, there is no AC and bugs may enter your room with the windows open. If you are like me, and attract mosquitos everywhere you go, this is not the place for you in the summer, when you really need AC. We came back one evening and the bathroom windows were open apparently when the room was getting cleaned and we were welcomed by a ton of bugs. It really is a clean hotel and the woman that runs the place is very nice. Breakfast was 8€ per person and was expensive to me as my kids both only had a couple of bites from a bowl of cereal and 1 boiled egg each. They didn't like the milk and what my husband and I ate, was definitely not worth what we payed. We ended up buying food at Legoland when we got there. It was a standard breakfast that is usually served free in many places. Nothing hot, except the coffee and tea. The 2nd day, we just got breakfast at Legoland Cafe Ein Stein. For half what we paid at the hotel, we got breakfast and snacks for later. The hotel is a bit of a walk with kids. I would say at least a 15 min. walk. At the end of a day at the park, it will definitely take longer with tired kids. It's not really walking distance to any restaurants, but about a 6 min drive to Gunzburg.

A cosy B&B for a family of 4. They had bunk beds for the children and 15mins walking distance to Legoland Themepark. We went during April so it was not too warm and having the window slightly open was bearable, not too sure during peak summer though.
All in all we had a good stay. Thank you.

Very busy road beside hotel noise all night. Rooms small and v hot. Open window noise from trucks all night. No air. Bad smell from adjoining farm. Breakfast not worth the money. Absolutely avoid. Much nicer quieter places in Grunsburg.

Response from Heike H, Inhaber at Hotel Heike garni
Responded 14 Oct 2019
Dear Sirs, unfortunately, our hotel is located on a busy street, we can not change. We have sound-proof windows. We also live in the countryside, than you have to book a room in the city. If you don´t like our breakfast, sorry, but you can´t tell that it´s not worth the money, this is defamation. Best regards.

This hotel is in the middle of a very quiet and beautiful farmland. It is only 15 minutes or less of a walk from legoland and only a five minute or so drive to historical Gunzburg, which I also recommend visiting. The hostess was extremely kind, helpful, and spoke perfect English. She was exceptionally accommodating, offering us a room with a double bed on our second night, even though we only booked a twin room, due to it being full. She also had buy one get one free passes for legoland which she gave to us, saving us a lot of money. The breakfast is a bit pricy but the coffee was fantastic and I greatly approved of the food. She even recommended a nice restaurant in town, which turned out delicious.
Overall, she made the terrifying experience of our first German Hotel stay into a phenomenal one I won't soon forget.

The hotel is very nice, clean and comfortable with pleasant staff.
We had stay two nights, we enjoyed also the breakfast. In the room they cleaned up and opened the window for fresh air.
The hotel is very close to park, the location is a quiet place and from the main road you have signals to the hotel.

A reasonably priced hotel within walking distance to Legoland. Excellent breakfast. Large clean rooms. Only downside, there is nothing to do evenings except to drive to Gunzburg for dinner. There is a cold drink machine in the entrance.
