My young sons and I just got back from a short trip, and we loved it! Unit 12 (6 berth kitchenette cabin) was an excellent location close to the toilet and shower block, so the kids could go on their own when needed. The beds were comfy and the kids said they felt like they were in an hotel!

The kitchen had everything you need and the fridge was full sized, which was a pleasant surprise. The sound proofing seemed to be really good, which is handy when you have children who need an extra earlier bedtime than some adult campers nearby!

The allocated park was handy - a wee bit small, but nothing that I couldn’t handle with a little help from people guiding me in and out!

The location is fab - just across from the beach, close to takeaways, and a lovely easy walk down the beach to the Flqt White Cafe.

The pool was definite favourite, and feeding the eels a close second. It gave us all a chance to slow down, relax and just enjoy each other’s company. There’s plenty to do and see here without even having to leave the grounds if you don’t want to.

The staff are friendly, and fantastic at what they do…maintenance and cleanliness seems to be a real priority, as I often saw grounds staff working hard/cleaning/painting to ensure everything was in good shape.

We will definitely be back!

Stayed one night in the one cabin next to the motel units, that has the same lovely seaview as the 3 motels next door, but which is more affordable because it has shared bathroom facilities, though only shared with the other cabin behind it that has the view over the holiday park. These cabins have well equipped kitchens, and provide linen and bedding. The receptionist was very helpful on our arrival, and overall, our experience was excellent. We loved looking at the view, Waihi Beach is one of the best beaches along the Bay of Plenty, and this camping ground has an excellent location relative to the beach, behind the Surf Club, with a small section across the road with power sites for caravans and motorhomes, right next to the beach.

Great location, lovely clean tidy camp with fun heated pool & spa area. Fun family camp. We liked the location so we could cycle the Hauraki Trail from Waihi which is just 10 minutes down the road. Nice to enjoy winter walk along the beach as well & Fish & Chip shop just across the Rd !

Prior to booking we had done a lot of research and reviews of the park had been very positive, however we felt let down by a number of things during our stay. I understand that there has recently been a change in management and our experience mirrors some of the more recent reviews I’ve read.

My main issues during our stay were:
• Our first interaction with the campground was a very unfriendly lady at reception. This wasn’t a one off, with the exception of one nice lady, we didn't experience a friendly or helpful person at reception over our week stay.
• We stayed on the beach side of the campground and the camp sites were very small. It was almost impossible to fit your car on the site along with a normal sized family tent. Given there is no alternative safe parking in the campground and you knew our bookings were for families I think a heads up on the size of the site at the time of booking should have been given. The restricted space definitely limited what we could do on our site.
• The toilet facilities on the beach side were consistently disgusting. Given the campground was completely packed they should have been cleaned every few hours but they weren’t even being cleaned once per day. On relaying this information to the staff (when the toilets got particularly filthy) we received a very negative response from a man there, he was very rude and the toilets continued to remain dirty.
• We had rented a fridge (which is a great idea), however the fridge was missing shelves in both the door and the main part of the fridge rendering it less useful than a chilly bin. It was also delivered quite dirty and we had to give it a thorough clean before putting food in it.
We managed to make the best of the situation and had a nice stay, however we won’t be returning to the park and we’ll warn others away. It is a real shame though because with the heated pool, proximity to the beach and general location of the campground, our holiday should have been amazing.

Hi Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Waihi Beach TOP 10 Holiday Resort. Thanks for your comments about more cleaning and also sorry you had to experience a drop in our usual standards. We have stepped it up to 3 times per day since 3rd January to try and keep on top of the volume. Staff's been pretty hard to come by for the tourism sector with covid. Normally we would have alot of internationals filling the gaps to keep on top of the work load, sadly not enough kiwis want to work. The park has changed hands recently so there will be alot more spent on improvements of facilities this year and the years to come. Thanks again for your comments. Wishing you a lovely summer ahead and happy new year, all the best from the team and ourselves here at Waihi Beach TOP 10 Holiday Resort.

We paid $273 a night but had a discount because of membership. We had 3 adults one child. The room was tiny; two chairs at a dinning table where there was not room to even sit at it. Two seater OLD couch for watching tv. Remember we had 4 people! DVD player was broken, electric blanket broken, bedside light broken. Room service the next day did NOTHING except I asked her to remove the rubbish bin contents. Beds not made, no clean towels.
I am flabergasted at being charged this for such a terrible room and service. Repair man did come and rectify broken items but its not what you expect at this price!!!! Would never go back!!

Hi Dickley, Thank you for choosing to stay at Waihi Beach TOP 10 last weekend. I am aware that you encountered a number of issues during your stay that left you, justifiably less than impressed. I wanted to reach out to you to apologise and to offer you a refund for your stay. We aim to offer all our guests an enjoyable experience and that will leave you wanting to recommend us to others. During your stay it is clear that we failed. I have talked to the staff since your stay and was pleased to hear that the maintenance team were able to fix the issues you raised. However, I am really disappointed that we had to wait for you to report the issues and that we hadn’t picked up on them ourselves beforehand. I have used your feedback as a tool to reiterate to our staff how important it is that we are thoroughly checking rooms regularly and being proactive in our maintenance program. I would like to believe that on this occasion we had an unfortunate case of the stars aligning badly for us and if something could go wrong it did but again, we could have and should have rectified these issues before you arrived. I would like you to know that your experience is far from the norm and we are all disappointed. For this reason, we will be organising a full refund for your stay. We are currently in the process of finalising a large renovation of our rooms at Waihi beach to give our guests a truly great experience. There is also a lot of work going on with staff training and awareness. I hope that my email will go a little towards changing your opinion of Waihi Beach and I hope that one day you would be willing to give us a 2nd chance. Thank you, The Team at Waihi Beach TOP10 Holiday Resort

Family of 10, 4 adults, 6 kids. On arrival the Friday caretaker was extremely rude, we were told abruptly to move our tents as we were setting up on a through fare. This could have been done at 2pm when we checked in, and not at 3:30 once we were set up..... We had no where to park our cars, and had to re arrange our vehicles with the neighbouring campers for the duration of our 7 day stay - or park in the street! The camp sights are so small we were unable to put up our gazebo. Pay for an electrical sight but are then still expected to pay an additional $7 a day for a power cable?? We were told we had too much rubbish when we asked where to take our garbage bag - (one black bag after 3 days) unfortunately we were camping during the Tsunami alert. We were instructed by a Top 10 staff member to follow him and evacuate up the driveway at the back of the park, Only to find the gate was locked. We had to pass our small children through the gap between the wall and fence and older children and adults had to climb over. It was a nightmare. Most of the guests who followed the instruction to run to higher ground were foreign and were unaware of Tsunami warnings or procedures. Surely you train your staff to handle these situations correctly?? The caretaker on duty between Sunday and Thursday was very hospitable and friendly. On our departure on Friday, the same rude man was on duty again and proceeded to mow the sand on our sight whilst we were hooking our trailers up to the car, at 11am. We are aware that check out was at 10, however we had to wait for the campers around us to depart as there was no space for our cars and trailers. The amount of dust that went into our vehicles and over our children was not acceptable, and this was done intentionally!! On approaching him he mentioned he needed to do this before 2pm.... it was 11am and there were many other empty sights he could have started on. The amenities are amazing, the pool area was perfect for both our big and little kids. Was such a shame one person ruined our experience. We won’t be back.

We really appreciate your feedback and always take on board your comments to help us to deliver our guests an even better holiday! We also didnt plan for the tsunami siren going off and ALL staff did a great job in the situation and the time we got the full list off guest in house and opened the barrier arm one off our staff members had opened the back gate.It was between 15 and 20 minutes the park was emptied. We do allocate 1 car per site and all sites are powered with supplying your own leads. We do have a small window to tidy up our grounds and cleaning ,rubbish as this is a major job to do. We glad you enjoyed the pool and other facilities. All the best from the team and ourselves here at Waihi Beach TOP 10 Holiday Resort. Regards Luton

Fantastic holiday park within walking distance to the beautiful Waihi Beach. Friendly staff with fantastic facilities and some pet eels to fascinate the kids. Set with lots of large trees and a creek running through it's an easy place to relax. Added bonus is the wood fired pizza oven they light on Wednesday and Sunday.

The location of the resort is good being close to the beach, but the sites quite small and some hard to get a caravan onto, especially when all the sites are full. Our experience with the staff was very disappointing, they were very unwelcoming and unaccommodating and did not make us feel comfortable staying there. We had a powered site - not a unit.

I enjoyed being able to walk to beach. would choose a separate cabin next time for more privacy.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Setting is large and interesting enough to accomodate families as well as individuals. Children appeared to be well catered for and, as a solo traveller, it never felt like there were too many people staying
