The Barceló Lanzarote Royal Level hotel garners praise for its attentive service and exclusive Royal Level amenities, including private pools and dining, which many travelers find to enhance their stay. While the atmosphere is largely celebrated for its modernity and cleanliness, there are occasional inconsistencies in cleanliness and entertainment offerings. Guests appreciate the spacious rooms with sea views, though some note noise and cleanliness concerns. The hotel's location is generally well-received for tranquility and accessibility, yet opinions on the overall value are divided.

All in all, this is a fantastic holiday for couples or families. I wouldn’t have enjoyed not having the ‘royal’ option but with it, it’s very close to 5 stars in the most part. Royal pool and bar is superb, staff are brilliant and you’ll not wait 2 minutes to get served at any point in the day; you’ll also never struggle to get a bed by the pool. However, the toilets leave a lot to be desired and I’ve today told them for the 4th day in a row that there’s no soap in the mens… really don’t understand how they can be so good at 95% of things but slip on these things that take nothing to fix. Room is lovely, bed is the best I’ve ever slept in, view on the large balcony is phenomenal. Shower is great and double sinks and separate toilet area - really is very nice. Royal level allows for a fancier dining experience - every night we had a different culinary experience; steak, octopus, salmon, pork, fish all cooked to order and delicious. With this you also have endless amounts of fresh ‘buffet’ style food to select from and when I say buffet, it is absolutely of a higher standard that normal. You also have access to the other normal buffet which again is perfectly acceptable and plentiful. The drinks are continuously flowing and it’s all top level stuff. Any spirit is branded and you can ask for specifics and they’ll sort you out and the wine is really decent (probably a £40-50 bottle in a restaurant at home). All in all, I’ve had a wonderful time. The only issues are very small things. The one thing I’d really like the hotel to take on board is that it’s not acceptable to lie to people about the leaving day. We’ve asked every day for a late check out and been told to come back and ask again the next day, on our final day we’ve been told no. We’re not the only ones. If there’s no late checkout rooms available for whatever reason; just tell people. You really don’t want the lasting impression of what really is a superb experience to be being lied too and brushed aside. I won’t let this take away from what has been a wonderful holiday, however please do take note.

Dear Wilson, Thank you for your review. We do try to offer late checkout, depending on availability, however, guests may use still use our services on the day of departure. Moreover, we have taken note of your comment about the pool amenities and will be reviewing this with our housekeeping service. Nevertheless, we thank you for your wonderful comments on the service delivered which will be shared with the entire team. It is always a great source of motivation for our team to know that our guests appreciated their efforts and attention to detail. We are also glad you enjoyed our attractive pool area and appreciated the number of sunbeds we have available for our guests; we are aware this is an important aspect for the majority of our guests. Similarly, it is a pleasure to know that you appreciated the room we accommodated you in as well as the lovely views it offered. It is our goal to offer spacious and attractive rooms to our guests, equipped with all amenities. Furthermore, it is great that you enjoyed the culinary delights prepared by our professional chefs who always strive to offer a wide variety of typical delights in order to please all palates and we thank you for letting us know that we satisfied yours. We look forward to welcoming you back. Best regards, Guest Experience Manager

In summary, we loved the location, food, the 50m pool and the ability to do all the classes in the gym and near the pool. Angel (animator), Juan (gym instructor), Eva (restaurant) & the Pool Manager were all fantastic & extremely helpful!
The gym was much better than usual hotel offering, and the daily, instructor-led classes were fab. Juan, the gym manager, was really motivational & helpful.
Several pools but we absolutely loved the 50m!! And that it was heated!
Angel with his yoga/meditation were a perfect start to the morning and he handled the hosting of the evening Kahoot quiz game excellently. The whole family loved his positive energy, sense of fun and going above & beyond to help. He very kindly took me sea swimming when this was not part of his job, which I really appreciated. (Even though, am a strong swimmer, was a bit scared to go in on my own, didn't know how cold, currents/tides etc but it was actually blissful!). Note, beach is not sandy but rocky. However, you could sunbathe on the rocks and enter the water from there.
The quality and variety of the food was really excellent and was one of the stand-outs for us. We are a family of 4 and it definitely catered for all tastes. We also bought lunch on a number of occasions, and it seemed fairly priced for what you get.
In terms of the rooms, the large double bed was extremely comfortable. The patio was also great and rooms a good size. They missed something on layout though - would have been much better for the kids to be able to access the bathroom from their space rather than traipsing through the parents room each time! You tended to miss your window of getting the room cleaned if you happened to be in when they came. They probably could have made more of an effort to come back later & seemed to ignore the please clean sign on the door when we put it out on several occasions!
Olivia (spa manager) was really helpful & spoke excellent English but we were gutted to find that the sauna was not working. It was very chilly when we were there and the sauna would have been a wonderful addition to the other great facilities. Would also be amazing to add a Hammam and Steam Room. Most Spa similar quality hotels would have these in our experience. Went for a Sports Massage and really needed a strong massage, checked and requested in advance but the beauty therapist was a beauty therapist, and while lovely, was not really strong enough. Overall, we hope to be back, assuming they keep prices reasonable.

Booked a trip directly with the Barcelo website for 4 nights in February. Took some time researching and trying to work out the difference between Royal Level and the Active resort, which is impossible to comprehend on some websites. Royal level is the hotel at the front, Active is over the road away from the sea. You get dropped off and check in at the "main hotel". You can use all the facilities of both sites, except with Royal level you can use the infinity pools closest to the sea and the Asana restaurant. Also the Royal level rooms are all at the sea side site, and all rooms in this side have a sea view and are a bit more plush. Junior suites are on the quieter west facing side, block 2. Deluxe sea view rooms overlook the pool and towards the sea beyond. This is a great view. Cannot comment on the Active site views. From both sites you can access the multiple pools, restaurants, gym and Les Mills classes, yoga etc, entertainment, bars and other facilities. All guests can use the heated saltwater Olympic pool for a fee of 3€ as there are 2 lanes reserved for hotel guests. The other lanes are for visiting professional athletes and private bookings. Bring or purchase a swimming cap (€5). There are 2 well stocked cycling stores, Vulcan and Huerzeler, with fees to match the bikes on offer (cheapest €15 per day for a basic bike up to top level road and mountain bikes) and uninterrupted bike lanes all the way to costa teguise and arricefe. A small rocky beach is accessible directly from the hotel through a gate, if swimming in the sea, do bring swimming shoes to get over the rocks. A taxi rank and bus stops are directly next to the hotel. Cost to airport ~€18. Only stayed in the Royal level but would do so again. Hotel was clean, well designed and furnished. Saw some reviews about food being poor but can't understand these. Everything was fresh and well prepared. Wine very good quality, normal Spanish range and also the best the Canaries has to offer. Staff were professional and seemed to care about making everything special. Entertainment good quality (we saw a fab Beatles cover band) Vibe suited older child families, sporty couples, older couples who just want to relax. I visited with my mother and it was perfect as there was a range of things to do that suited both of us. Will return and also recommend to my cycling and swimming crazy friends.

I have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel and despite some good points there are also quite a few negatives which the hotel need to work on in order for it to be up to the standard expected.
The negatives:
Royal check in is only open for short periods when guests arrive at all hours
No explanation is given as to how the all inclusive works, what is included, where the entertainment is held, gym etc. you are checked in and then left to your own devices or have to rely on the app
The lunch option in the a la carte Royal restaurant is the same every day. Yes there is a selection but no buffet option in addition so it becomes very limited
Dinner in the a la carte is very tasty and there are 4 choices however the buffet starter and dessert did not vary much and there was no food labelling at all which is not good for anyone with allergies and very dangerous . Even when I pointed out that I had a nut allergy there was no guidance and it wasn’t noted for any other days
The queue for drinks at night is ridiculous and there is no included bar near to where the entertainment is held so you miss half of it whilst queuing . The bar is that area is a paid bar and empty - why would you pay
There is a very noticeable bias towards Spanish guests. They are given bottles of wines whereas the English are only allowed glasses of wine. They are served before English guests etc to the point that it comes across as very rude
The evening entertainment is not great

The positives
The Royal level pool and bar are lovely. Very relaxing and no problem in getting a sun bed each day without the need to reserve and a good selection of drinks on offer
Bedrooms are spacious and light with great views but make sure you request a view
The royal level restaurant is very nice and if the above mentioned points were changed I would have no issues at all
The gym is very good and well equipped

At the moment I would rate the hotel as a good 3 star but work needs to be down to improve the issues raised. It’s certainly not up to the usual Barceló
Standard at present

We are here now and it is the most fantastic place. Our room is perfect, quiet area With a wonderful sea view. Cleaned, new towels and sheets (if you request) changed every single day. We have eaten in the Asana restaurant every day where the food is of a high standard and great variety. The wine and the beer is also great quality. It is worth paying to be a royal level guest as you do not queue for anything and there are royal level only areas where you will always find a sun bed. The hotel is approx 25 mins walk away from Costa Tequise, which a a nice stroll after lunch or dinner, or you can order a taxi which costs approx €3.50.

The staff here are all very happy and you can tell that they are enjoying their jobs. Defo a good 4* experience. Well done Barcelo!

The hotel was maintained to a high standard, the staff from the cleaners to the management were very friendly and attentive. We were Royal level guests with a junior suite with sea view, the room was lovely and spacious and cleaned everyday. The food was varied, in the Asana they cooked your choice of fish or meat to your liking, it was never over busy in there.
You can walk into Costa Teguise about 35/40 mins walk. The bus stops right outside the hotel, a taxi in to Costa Teguise was 3.50e.
Hired a car for 40e for day and drove to Playa Blanca about 40 mins away.
Overall a lovely holiday and would come back in a heartbeat

This is the best holiday we have ever been on, which is saying something as we travelled in December.

Service was great, with our only comment being that waiting staff can sometimes forget about outside tables at the buffet restaurant, this only happened once though, and is easily forgiven. The food options were good, with us having multiple things each night that we would eat (my partner is quite a fussy eater and he still managed multiple types of foods each night). I loved the meat/fish cooking station where I could request how I wanted my meat cooked and have it cooked fresh in front of me; fantastic.

The hotel was lovely and clean, including our daily room cleaning, bathroom and even the communal areas were spotless. The pools were well maintained and enjoyable to lounge around and swim in.

The Staff were welcoming and friendly. We were so impressed with the room and bathroom we stayed in, so modern and aesthetic. The only comment here is that we wish the beds weren’t separate, but this is clearly seen on the hotel listing images so we made do!

The location was great, we didn’t venture much out of the resort as we only stayed for four nights but there are local buses as well as taxis, and with the island’s size, it is easily commutable.

You clearly get what you pay for here, and we would love to come back again, although it may have to be another winter getaway as we could not afford a summer week here anytime soon unfortunately!

Overall a lovely stay, at a great hotel with amazing catering and staff. We definitely recommend upgrading/ booking royal level.

Thank you to all at Barcelo Royal Level, we will remember our first holiday abroad as a couple forever, for all of the right reasons.

Royal Level all the way !!! Exclusive access to restaurants and pool areas. Very good when the hotel is busy. Fresh meat and fish grilled at lunch and dinner every day and cooked to your liking. Some days there wasn't a varied choice for the children, but we always managed to concoct a meal for them from what was available. Premium bottled drinks of coke, Fanta, extensive wine menu (you can order full bottles to your table) and all drinks are table service (one less thing to queue for).
We chose to visit Dolce Vita for our a la carte evening but was very disappointed with the food. There was no choice for the children for the starters and really the only food for them was pizza which were really good to be fair. Our starters and mains didn't taste of anything and was very bland, so much so that we had a taste of each and left the rest.(we ordered La Parmigiana and Arabiata pasta for the mains - both bland and tasteless) We didn't to try a dessert and chose to go back to the Asana restaurant for our meal instead.
The Goa bar and pool area was fantastic. Less crowded and easy access to the bar which also had table/bed service.
The rooms are comfortable and a decent size
All areas of the hotel were clean and even the gardens were maintained daily
Airport transfer time on the express coach took 10-15 minutes
Taxi ride to Costa Teguise cost 3.5 Euro and the water park was the same

Great 7 night stay in Junior suite sea view. We went with the Royal level all incluisve which we felt was worthwhile for the additional restaurant/snack/drink variety, quieter pool options and free pool towels. The hotel is beautifully renovated & modern. Our room was very spacious, large balcony more sea facing than sea view because of trees, but cleaned daily with fresh towels & bottle of water. Good hairdryer and toiletries provided. Food was excellent standard, great variety at every meal & freshly cooked. Staff were all lovely & very helpful, particularly Filipe on reception at check in. A really fabulous gesture which we appreciated was the handwritten note & bottle of cava with glasses left in our room on my birthday(we hadnt mentionned this to anyone). The Playa El Ancla beach right behind hotel is accessed through back gate, not much sand mainly rocks but you could swim. The sandier beaches & Costa Teguise are lovely 20-30 min walk along coast or 5 min taxi ride which cost us 5euro each way. Quiet resort with lots of families but plenty of entertainment available if you wish without being too full on. Would highly recommend.

Dear Guest, We appreciate that you took the time to share your experience with us. It is heartening to note your appreciation for our all-inclusive offerings, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for our guests. The tranquility of our exclusive pool areas and the convenience of complimentary pool towels are part of our commitment to provide exceptional service. We are also thrilled that the recent renovations at Barcelo Lanzarote Royal Level met your expectations for modernity and elegance. Our housekeeping team takes great pride in maintaining the cleanliness and comfort of our rooms, and it is gratifying to know that these efforts resonated with you. The high standard of our culinary selections is a cornerstone of the Royal Level experience, and your compliments regarding the variety and quality of meals are greatly valued. Our staff, particularly Filipe, will be overjoyed to hear that their efforts to provide friendly and helpful service made a memorable impact on your stay. Additionally, the personal touch extended for your birthday is a reflection of our dedication to guest delight. While the beach adjacent to our hotel is more rocky than sandy, we are glad you found it suitable for a swim and appreciated its proximity. For those seeking sandier shores, Costa Teguise is indeed a short journey away, and we are pleased you had the opportunity to explore it. Your enjoyment of the entertainment provided and the overall atmosphere of the resort is the kind of feedback that inspires us to continue offering a diverse array of activities and experiences for our guests. Thank you for recommending us, and we anticipate the pleasure of welcoming you back to continue discovering the unique charm of Lanzarote. We are hoping to welcome you back in the future. Just got back after staying here - Royal Level, Deluxe Sea View. Wow, this was a fantastic holiday, the room was beautiful and really large, the view was fantastic, our room request (for high floor) was taken into account, champagne at checkin and separate checking for royal level guests. Really enjoyed the perks of Royal level, mainly the separate buffet restaurant to eat in and the royal level pool and bar. The resort seemed to be fairly quiet, always sunbeds available, never a wait to be served, great location and friendly staff. The other thing I noticed is that they were really on top of maintenance in terms of cleaning and gardening, you see lots of this happening throughout the day, everywhere was spotless.

The resort itself is massive and as a Royal guest you have access to both sides of the resort which gives you so many different pool and bar choices. The ‘active’ options in the resort looked great, with gym and Olympic swimming pool, activities, bike hire etc. however it’s not thrust in your face so don’t be put off if you are a sun lounger & book kind of person.

Food was excellent, we only stayed for 3 nights so didn’t get to try the a la carte restaurants as you needed to stay 5 nights (this wasn’t made clear until check in). This didn’t impact us as the choice was vast and variety great (it changed every day). If you are a picky eater / like your very typical English type food, you might struggle but for us it was sooo good. All of the staff welcome you and are so friendly and helpful.

Things that let it down.. but didn’t impact my stay or love for this place… the corridors to the rooms are really weird, odd carpet and gives a prison / office block vibe with red/black/grey carpet tiles, just didn’t match with the style and level of the rest of the hotel. The corridors were clean and maintained just odd. Main indoor bar area toilets, hole in wall and no toilet roll holder. You can tell a lot of money has been spent on renovation but there are a few areas which haven’t been touched and these just seem so out of place. These didn’t impact my stay but not what I’d expect from a top level hotel so worth mentioning. Other bits.. AC in the room didn’t seem all that great, wasn’t an issue for us as it wasn’t uncomfortably warm (24 during the day, 17/18 at night) but it could be harder in summer.. it may have just been set at a certain level for the time of year. It wasn’t entirely clear on some of the snack options at pool bars if this was included or not.. have a feeling it wasn’t as everything had a price on it. We didn’t ever need snacks as we were so full from the buffets!

Would love to return again for a longer stay and this time, take the kids with us.

Thanks to all the staff for making our stay fabulous.
