As repeater guests I wanted to write another review after hearing of the quite funny I must say complaints about this hotel. From the first time we visited until this time round we have never ever found any of the staff members to be rude to us. Everyone will say hello, more like kalimera or kalispera. Maybe they do not have all the time in the world to converse with you but they are working, they are not on holiday like we are. I wish you people would actually remember that!!! Having said that, it was spotless as always, the food was delicious…of a very high quality as compared to other 4 star and even 5 star hotels we have visited. Some say breakfast is the same everyday, yes it is but there is so much to choose from daily, Greek yoghurt, both fresh and tinned fruits, classic English breakfast, pastries and breads to die for, freshly made on sight on a daily basis. The dinner consists of 2 pastas, fish, 2-3 different types of meat cooked differently, vegetables, salads, dips, Greek style potatoes (no they do not serve chips but come on people, you really need chips whilst on holiday in Greece?), cheese platters, puddings, fresh fruits, Greek desserts…do I need to go on? The pool was spotless and there were plenty of sunbeds around even though the hotel was full. There were activities during the day and night if you want to join in. It is not our thing so we just sat around having a drink. We went into town a couple of nights, it is about a 15 minute walk (not 1 hour as I read in a previous review). From what I understood there is a bit of a shortage of taxis on the island and it may be a long wait but this is surely no fault of the hotel. All in all another amazing, relaxing holiday for us! We will be back!!!…
Excellent hotel. Spacious light and cool in public areas. Rooms set into hillside rather than in a traditional block means no disturbance from guests walking past in the corridor (could be a problem for anyone with mobility issues though). Self service restaurant with good food choice even for vegetarians. Friendly staff. Nice pool with plenty of sun beds. Offers private beach just across the road and a 20 minute walk into town. Ideal spot in my opinion
We have just returned home to Scotland 3 days early after a terrible honeymoon at the Lagas Aegean Village, Kos, Greece. We had to pay for new flights to Manchester, new airport transfer and get a family member to pick us up from Manchester and drive us home to Scotland - we did anything to get out of this place! We arrived at 1am and was greeted by a very abrupt, male reception staff member who basically just said here's the rule book, men must wear long pants to dinner or you will be refused entry to the dining room and now pay your tourist tax. We got up to the room and considering the hotel is far from the town, the onsite shop was closed, you cannot drink the tap water and it is a 4 star resort I think at least a bottle of water should have been provided for us. Honeymooners were supposed to be provided with fresh fruit in their room which we weren't. They give you a kettle and mugs but no sugar, milk, coffee or tea bags? The trouser rule for men at dinner is ridiculous. In 38°C heat men have to wear trousers when women can wear whatever they want. During the day in the same dining room men can wear shorts. It is not a fancy restaurant, it's basic food and a buffet/canteen style and did not warrant the rule. The website states this in very small print which we did not see therefore we had to go into town and buy trousers as my husband did not have any long trousers with him. Other guests were in the same position but refused to buy trousers or couldn't find any in the town and they were refused entry to the restaurant at dinner their entire stay even though they had paid for the half board service. To me when the rule book says long trousers for men are "requested" that does not mean mandatory! If you were a man and wearing shorts anywhere near the restaurant entrance after 5pm you were walked up on and aggressively reminded "you know you cannot wear shorts to dinner" which happened to my husband two nights in a row when we told them again and again we knew this and we were waiting on a taxi to dine out! There was no need for such aggression! The staff were extremely rude and although it states they all speak English, most of them refused to and passed you on to one specific male receptionist who was very rude and rolled his eyes at you if you ever asked him a question. Yet if someone speaking German walked up to them they spoke German to them and they treated them like they were old friends laughing and joking. They were shown to their table in the restaurant, not rushed when eating, their trays of food carried for them to their table when getting lunch from the snack area - we got none of this. The WiFi wasn't working in our room and it took them 3 days to fix it after us asking them to at least 5 times and they just kept saying the person would be there in ten minutes. We then asked reception to phone us a taxi into town (don't believe the reviews that say it's a 10 minute walk, it's not, its at least 30 minutes and then consider the heat alongside this). I had badly hurt my foot on my first day so not only could I not manage the walk I also needed the pharmacy as the onsite shop did not stock any painkillers. 1 hour later the taxi had not arrived and I asked him if he knew how long it may be. He said they were too busy to answer the phone, I said so does this mean you haven't booked it then? He said I don't understand you and walked away. We gave up waiting and decided to just eat in the restaurant - we couldn't do this because my husband was in shorts as we were planning on going out, the queue for the mini bus was a mile long and by the time we would have got up to the room for him to change into long trousers and back down we would have missed dinner so we ended up eating crisps from the onsite supermarket for our evening meal. The woman in the supermarket is very rude, she doesn't even greet you and throws the money down on the counter and the bottled water isn't chilled. The next evening we booked another taxi, 2 hours later it still hadn't shown, apparently all the taxis go to the airport and refuse to take smaller fairs from the town the to hotels etc. We weren't the only ones waiting and there were other groups waiting including people with disabilities who couldn't then "just walk" or get the local bus. We gave up and walked to the local bus stop to which this was also 30 minutes late but we eventually did get into town. The staff were so rude and unhelpful with this, they dismissed the fact we were feeling isolated, trapped and cut off and couldn't get anywhere because of poor transport links which is not advertised. This was severely affecting my anxiety and even my mum phoned the reception from Scotland to ask for help and all they could say was the taxi service was really busy, the woman she spoke to didn't even have the decency to come and check if we were ok. They also couldn't suggest anything when we couldn't get into the pharmacy two nights in a row. The hotel have their own section of beach at the end of the road but they charge €4 per person per sundbed per day and it's not a very nice beach. Our Jet2 rep was only due in two days during our entire 7 night holiday and it was nearer the end before going home that she was due in when we were told she would be in every day and we wanted to book excursions for the days at the beginning of our holiday as well as the end. We asked the reception for help with this and if they could recommend anything to do and how to do them, they simply said the could not help and that we had to use our rep and just dismissed us. The staff in the restaurant were extremely rude. They sit you down and take a drinks order which isn't included with your meal and they stand around you to make sure you pay for these drinks before you leave the dining room like bouncers. The food was the same every night and very boring and bland, (spaghetti with a basic tomato sauce) food that was meant to be cool like cold meats and cheeses were warm and left out in the heat in the sweatbox that was the dining room, the food was not labelled to tell you what it was and the deserts you had to guess what they were - not good for me (someone with a severe peanut allergy) and all they supplied was a sign above saying everything might have nuts in it - not 4 star at all. Whilst you are eating they clear away glasses and cutlery around you and if you finish before your partner they take their plate away. Before you even lay your fork down they've cleared the table and your sipping your final sip or your drink as they stand you up tearing off the table cloth. The final straw was I got severe sickness and diarrhea and had to spend a full day in the room next to the toilet. There was no option to get any help regarding getting water or supplies therefore my husband who also wasn't feeling great had to constantly run up and down all those stairs to get us anything. There is also no option to put a "do not disturb sign" on the door meaning the maids walked in our room 3 times that day when we told them everytime they came in that we were sick and that we did not want the room cleaned or wanted to be disturbed. The minibus service was a joke, 3 minibuses but only 1 ever running meant people were waiting up to 1 hour at times to be taken up to their room. Other guests were just as rude as the staff, skipping the queue for the minibus service and staff just let them. I guess rude places attract rude people? Myself and my husband were brought up with manners, to be polite and respectful to people, to say please and thank you - it was like we were on a different planet. The entertainment was very poor, a rotation of kareoke, bingo or a mini disco when the website advertises Greek nights and singing and dancing entertainment. The rooms themselves to me weren't 4 star, very basic and poor fixtures and fittings the only good thing was the housekeeping who kept them spotless daily. One weird thing was the remote for the air con went missing and when we phoned to tell them they said oh yes it's here in reception we will give you it back? Why did they take it and why did we have to ask for it back? Were we using the air con too much? Reviews said it's only a few euros for a taxi from kardemena to the hotel - we were charged €8. Mini golf had disappeared and no longer there, the hotel charges you to play pool, tennis and table tennis, towels, safety deposit box the gym and sauna advertised but you have to pay extra for it? People smoke everywhere except inside, even under the undercover eating areas right next to you which is really off putting to non- smokers. Staff have to wear masks because of covid but they all wear them below their nose so really what's the point? The managers and staff are constantly shouting /arguing with each other and there is just a permanent atmosphere. You will spend most of your holiday waiting on the shuttle bus, TV only has Greek and German channels, Pool filthy the bit that the water pours over into had people drawing their names into the dirt and one said "name 2k11" (which is 2011!!). The next day we turned in the key and left 3 days early and even then the reception staff didn't even care as to why we were going home early. We will never be back to this hotel and would never recommend it to anyone. We are not hard people to please, we just want to be treated with respect and be able to get out and about whilst on holiday - this shouldn't be too much to ask. It may look pretty in photos but what good is that when you have all of the problems and experiences I've stated above!…
Pro’s Good clean rooms, clean and smart hotel that is well presented, picturesque surroundings, large pool and sunbed area, food is fine if a little samey. Con’s NO drinks are provided with your evening meal, not even water. The water is priced up per bottle a lot more then if you walk into Kardamena and buy it yourself, which left a bad taste in our mouths. The shop is ludicrously expensive. Hire a car or if you’re feeling up to walking in the heat, walk into town and bulk buy water. While you’re at it, I would advise buying some snacks too as food is also expensive The sun loungers on the ‘private beach’ at the front of the hotel are at a cost. What is the point in having a beach hotel if there is no exclusivity for guests? I could be anyone. This is also disappointing to us. We refused to pay, and walked into Kardamena for the beach instead. The cocktails are poor quality and over priced. Again, walk into Kardamena and get a better cocktail at a more reasonable price.…
Had a lovely stay here at the Lagas Aegean Village on Kos Island so wanted to share our experience! Location - nice location, around 20 minutes from the airport so those transfers are nice and easy. It’s around a 25 minute walk give or take to the Kardamena town. Kos town is around a 40 minute bus ride and costs €3.50 one way. You can either catch a bus from Kardamena town or there is only 1 that picks you up right outside the hotel at around 9am I think it was (could be wrong) Staff - Always seemed lovely and happy. As Greece is bad with covid they were all masked up. FairPlay to the staff as well for working those long hours, they do deserve credit where it’s due Room - We had a lovely room overlooking the sea which was nice to wake up too every morning. A few things about the room though. The fan doesn’t seem to stay on all night, it would cut off during the night meaning 1 of us would have to wake up to turn it back on due to the heat. Another one was no lock on the bathroom door which felt like you didn’t have full privacy Food - Breakfast and tea were both done as a buffet as much as you want. Breakfast they usually had the same things every morning then at tea it was almost the same. There would be different chicken/fish/pasta dishes and would change every night. We did enjoy it but I feel there could’ve been a few more options including some chips Facilities - We don’t like sunbathing but when we ventured out at around 9am we could see there were always plenty around so there is no need to get up early to reserve them with your towels. I feel for the sun-beds on the beach, you shouldn’t have to pay if you’re a guest at the hotel. I reckon if you show your room key you get them for free. Excursions - there are definitely some excursions you need to do when in Kos. The main one would be taking a trip to Zia at night. This allows you to see the sunset right over the island which a wonderful experience. There are also plenty of others from your hotel rep Overall I’d happily stay here again…
We have just returned from This hotel after a 7 day stay. I have to say the staff were all fantastic and the rooms were very nice with beautiful sea views. The swimming pool is huge and there was never a problem with sun loungers. We were staying half board but chose to eat out most evenings through personal choice. The food was ok but a bit samey. Only minor complaint would be why does the pool not open until 10am and close at 6pm?? That said would definitely stay there again without any doubt.
Good points Beautiful views from rooms. Polite reception staff especially a lady called Evi. Clean rooms, fresh towels every day. Big pool and never had to reserve sun loungers. Bad points Unfriendly staff especially at the pool bar and shop, we were never greeted with a polite 'hello' even though we'd always smile and say hi. They made us feel like we'd done something wrong by wanting to order a drink at the bar. Poor breakfast especially the fruit which was from tins and was always mushy. No toaster which is rare for a 4 star hotel. Dinner was even worse, very bland with no flavour. We'd booked seven nights but ended up eating in the restaurant just twice, on the two occasions we are we had the pasta which both times was cold. Pool open 10am-6pm.
We arrived on the 3rd July for a 11 night stay, what a great stay we had. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with fantastic sea views from most rooms The pool is large with plenty of sunbeds, you don't need to be up at 6am to reserve a bed as their were plenty left at 11am. You can participate in events through the day like water aerobics, darts, mini golf and table tennis. The gym is well equipped with an indoor pool. you can also visit Cudrot there who does the most fantastic range of massages. The pool bar offers all drinks at a price which is compatible with most hotels. We found the restaurant clean and smart with a great choice of food, each night they had a different carved meat to accompany the large choice of food. The bread is home made with different choices and is gorgeous (we ate a little bit too much) The bedrooms are cleaned daily with clean sheets and towels and very friendly cleaning staff. The walk into town is a pleasant 15-20 minuets with nice sea views all the way, it is a little dark at night but feels totally safe walking back at night. we never had any problems with any member of staff at this hotel, some may have problems with English so they may come across rude but this is not always the case, try talking to them and you will find most are extremely friendly. This was our 10th stay at this hotel and hopefully we shall return again next year A big thank you to the Lagas family for a much needed relaxing break Tony and Gaynor…
We spent £1,400 to stay in this hotel for a week including flights on a half board and arrived on the 5th July. When we got to our room, it was nothing like it was pictured online but this wasn’t our main problem with the resort. We arrived at 2 PM and rushed down for food by 2.30 as they said lunch ended at 3 PM, when we got there the restaurant told us food had ended and refused to let us order anything even though there was half an hour left so we went down to Kardamena town. We came back to the hotel to go for dinner, the buffet was easily one of the worst we’ve ever seen. The only edible things were the chips which were soaked in oil and the pasta which was extremely salty, when we tried to order any drink on the menu except beer the waiter said it would take 50 minutes and gave us water instead. We then went to the pool bar for a drink and had advised TUI who had advised the hotel that my boyfriend had a severe peanut allergy which was airborne. When we got to the bar, the waiter put peanuts on our table which we quickly got him to take away and we realised there was peanuts on every single table. We went to speak to the reception manager as they’d been informed that there can’t be peanuts if he’s around, and the reception manager began to argue with us saying that they can’t ruin the other guests experience just because of one person. We explained that he would be in intensive care and possibly die if he came into contact with a peanut and tried to explain how serious it was but he was very dismissive and said as long as he doesn’t eat them he’ll be fine. When we tried to explain it again, he told us to go and speak to someone else as it had nothing to do with him and gave us the pool bar managers name which was Angela. We went to the kiosk by the pool bar to speak to her and found 2 other members of staff who asked if they could help. When we explained the situation, they started making jokes and telling him that his allergy was psychological and that there were peanut M&Ms and Snickers in the next aisle for him to try. By this point we were very upset and asked to speak to Angela, so the lady went to get her. When Angela came, she was very dismissive and rude about it all and had no sympathy for his situation. She said that it’s more important for other guests to enjoy the complimentary peanuts and it wasn’t their problem if he would die from it, she told him to put a covid mask on if it was that much of an issue and told us not to come down to the bar and restaurant. We explained we had spent £1,400 for the hotel so would expect to be able to go to the pool and eat the food we’d paid for, and she said that other people also had paid so they deserved to be able to have the peanuts. She said that if we had emailed her directly before booking she would have told us not to book with them and to self-cater, we told her this was discrimination and she laughed. When we again tried to explain how serious it was, she told us to go and sit in our rooms for the rest of the holiday then. We said we would need to get a refund and move hotels and she said that she didn’t care, there was hundreds of other guests so if we wanted a refund we’d need to speak to TUI but it would be the same in any hotel we went to. We’ve been on holiday to lots of hotels in different countries and have never been treated like this, the staff were so rude and put my partners health at risk then said they didn’t care if he died. TUI moved us to a different hotel (Portobello Royal) and they were very accommodating with his allergies, all food was clearly labelled and they saved the experience in the end. It’s just a shame we had to spend 5 days in this horrible hotel waiting to be moved.…
