Detailed Reviews
Excellent place to stay and so quiet. The night skies are amazing here. We spent 3 nights there in an apartment in the complex but theres are various options to suit all tastes. . The apartment was clean and well laid out. Bed comfortable and sheets fresh. Kitchen was easy to use and while there was no oven in the room they are available in the community kitchen nearby but we did have 4 burner cooktop and microwave. The complex is s short walk to bike hire shop and local 4 square store and bonus was a community street produce with honesty box. There is also a treasure trove nearby being a shop of second shop that had treasures and antiques. Our host was lovely lady with a sense of humour who replaced our towels daily and replenished tea and coffee in the unit. Will definatly be back if we are back in the Otago area again.

Really comfy bed and electric blankets made for a wonderful nights sleep
The outside looks a little rundown but inside the room is a great spacious lounge, bedrooms with extra blankets and a kitchenette so you can prepare a feast!
The owners also happy to provide info on local restaurants and activities

The kitchen and bathroom facilities good. (Yes I did wear jandles when showering but I did on every other camp ground too). Cabin was old, with a small fridge and TV. Unfortunately the floor could've done with a good clean. I know times are tough for places but if we do our bit and stay there, and pay the same price as at a Top 10 (where you know what you'll get), please do your part.
Also this is only the 2nd accomodation where we have stayed in 3 weeks, where a vaccine pass is not required. Make of that what you like.

It is about time they spent some money on facilities and safety, concrete slabs to some powered sites were badly cracked and lifting. Power pole connections for individual sites had no safety switches. Buttons missing from all toilet cisterns in gents. Shower floors were dirty, After paying site fees equivalent to other surrounding towns having coin in the slot for hot water to the showers is insulting.

We stayed with extended family for 3 nights across motel units and cabins at labour weekend and found it to be family friendly and adequate. The play ground, flying fox and jumping pillow were a hit. Sadly one motel unit in our booking was unable to be locked leaving the family feeling insecure. The owner was unable to get this fixed and insinuated that it was probably a child who broke it. The owner later accused my family of leaving our motel unit with an exploding rubbish bag with dirty nappies in it and dishes that required soaking. He told us that the cleaners were not our slaves! Both of these accusations were unfounded as we don't have children still in nappies and our four side plates, one bowl and glasses left that morning on check out were rinsed and stacked and certainly didn't require soaking. As it is a motel unit I don't think this is unreasonable. It was otherwise left very tidily. It wasn't serviced during our stay, except to replace towels, which we didn't find to be a problem. Unfortunately we wont be back, and wouldn't recommend due to the owner's inconsideration regarding security and the manner in which he conducts business.

Room Tip: Communal showers are grotty, $2 for 5 minutes and takes a while to heat up

The Ranfurly Holiday Park is a great place to stop en route if you're doing the Central Otago Rail Trail - Shelly and Nigel are friendly and helpful. The park has a camp kitchen that is fully stocked with pots, pans, stove cookers, microwaves, fridge, cutlery, crockery etc. The showers are due an upgrade, that is planned for after the high season, but they are clean and the showers are hot which is the main thing (and you don't have to pay). There is a laundry that is coin operated.

Room Tip: We were camping, but the closer sites to the cabins are higher and drier!

Although travelling in a quiet period we were disappointed with the lack of cleanliness in the facilities. We don't believe the bathroom or showers were cleaned for days. Jandals recommended for the showers.
If you are an NZMCA member, there is the park next door.
The actual camp sites and camp was lovely and well located.

The Holiday park was our accomodation for the third night of our trail ride. We were lucky to be allocated a new unit which the owner had only finished weeks before so it was in excellent condition.
We met the owner who regaled us with tales of the recent film shoot in the area and gave us a history of the place as well.
The unit was excellent in every respect and we really couldn't have asked for more. The kitchenette was all we needed and the bed was comfortable.
Centrally situated it was a 2 minute walk from town.

Very tidy grounds. Friendly hosts. Reasonably priced. Good kitchen facilities and equipment. Showers dodgy. Signage saying under construction but seemingly been that way for over 12 months. Poor water pressure.

This is a clean park but there are long term tenants who were drinking and talking loudly until around midnight. They were at it when we arrived early afternoon.
We came to the park for quiet and endured this.
It is apparent the management prefer their patronage rather than an overnight stay. The tenants seem immune to control.
No free wifi.
We would freedom camp rather than return here

"This was below budget accommodation, at budget price ($132 completely appalling). Even the door on the 'bedrooms' wouldn't budge to close. "Read full review
