Hi Explore, Thank you for the review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, and you loved the park surroundings. The nearest town is Dargaville which is about a 25 minute drive from here, so we understand that sometimes people forget to grab themselves, maybe something for dinner or maybe their toothbrush, that is why at the reception area we try and sell a range of items that will make sure no one will go hungry, thirsty or even smelly. Kind Regards Kauri Coast Team

There should be a larger allocation of free Wifi because there is no cell phone available and all communication has to be by Wifi. The Night Walk that is undertaken at the park is far too expensive for New Zealand resident families. It was going to cost $100 for two adults and tw

Hi Amm18, I am sincerely hoping that as you gave your stay 4*, which is 'very good', that you enjoyed our beautiful Park and your lovely motel unit despite your unhappiness regarding the free wifi allocation and the price of the Guided Night Forest Walk. In this rural area, we only have basic broadband and it is for that reason that we need to limit the free wifi to 250mbs per device per day, with an extra 500mbs free to TOP 10 Members. If we provided any more then all that would happen is that the service would 'bottleneck' and nobody would be able to get online atall. As soon as there is better infrastructure in the area that we can access we will increase our free allocation for our guests. In the meantime we can offer additional wifi packages at reasonable costs - eg 1gb for $5 for those who do wish to spend more time online. Also, although there is no mobile phone coverage available, we do, at our expense, provide 'mini repeaters' for Spark and Vodafone customers which provides mobile coverage within 20metres of reception. I was truly surprised to hear that you consider our Guided Night Forest Walk expensive, as this is the first time in the 5 years we have been here that somebody has said that - we normally hear guests comment what great value it is. The prices are $30 per adult and $20 per child for a 2 hour fully guided night tour in nearby Trounson Park. We do offer 10% discount for TOP 10 Members, but as we only take a maximum number of 10 guests and of course have the costs of paying the experienced Guide,DOC fees and overheads, we can't offer any further discounts if we want to at least break even. We do also offer a DIY Night Walk experience at $25 total for those who don't wish to take the Guided Tour - this is very popular with large families and those with young children who are too young to take part in the Guided Tour. So please be assured that we are trying our very hardest to provide our guests with a great experience every time they stay with us, and hope you now understand our need to limit the free wifi we currently provide - we would love to give more free, and as soon as technology improves in our rural area, we will do just that Kind Regards Jane Owner

During our 5 week tour of NZ, this park was my favourite as there was plenty of space and it's set in the Kauri Forest park so your close to nature. We loved seeing the glow worms and the fantails swooping.

Is there a shop on or near the campground with basic food like bread and milk?
Hi there, we have a small shop onsite selling basics such as bread, milk, ice cream, coffee and ice. The nearest supermarket is in Dargaville which is 30km south of here (30 minute drive). If you are travelling from the north there is a 4 square supermarket at Opononi, which is an hours drive from the Park. Kind Regards Jane
