The apartments are well located and while not Luxury are perfectly acceptable. Each apartment has a car park in the underground garage. It is important to note that there is lots of stair climbing so if you have mobility issues you need a ground floor apartment. Everything worked in our apartment but the couple who live in the apartment under the one we rented chain smoked on their balcony from dawn till dusk rendering our balcony completely useless. The smoke even permeated the apartment with the patio doors closed. We had wonderful weather so were able to leave the two bedroom windows open during the day whilst out. They needed shutting at night due to tragic noise.

This hotel is great value for money! Very modern and well furnished apartments, clearly have been refurbished since photos have been taken. Murray is a legend, very friendly and helpful! Best hotel manager I've ever seen, can't complement him enough! The only serious flaw I found was the internet allowance is not enough. Apart from that great stay and will definitely return!
Cheers Murray! See you soon!

I stayed at this place and it was disgusting. The curtains are mouldy, carpets are filthy, air conditioning stinks and is filthy dirty and the service is appalling. I’ve had to constantly ring for clean towels and fresh sheets. They keep telling me they will come for room service and don’t show up. If they do show up it’s days after expected room service. Please don’t stay here as you will regret it. For the money they charge and to not have at least clean curtains and a cleaned air conditioner…. Is appalling. Please don’t stay here as you will regret it.

Look, if you are a smoker you shouldn't have much issue with your stay here. The apartment is big, and fine for the price. I'm not fussy and won't point out the smaller things. But the one thing I can't stand is the lack of clean air. The other reviews about the smoke smell is true, if anything they are an understatementof how bad it is.

The issue is all the air vents in bathroom, toilet and laundry connect to other apartments. The permanent tenants must chain smoke in their rooms which flows through into the other apartments, it's filth. I've have to shut all the doors and pretty much barricade those sections off and have everyone use the ensuite. The bedrooms are opposite these rooms, so even with the doors shut, you can smell it. I've travelled for 30 plus years and never had this happen. Murray seems like a nice bloke but he needs to do something about the vents. Just block them, they do mode damage than good.

The stench as you hit the stairwell is brutal. It's like the smokers section at the pub. I seriously can't believe how strong the smell is.

In short, if you can deal living like smokers are sitting on your top lip, go for it.

I don't get the no smoking signs, what a joke. You can't open the balcony doors to get fresh air as it's just as bad outside. It's like no one here works and just smoke all day. It's disgusting.

For the price ($240/night), definitely not worth the stay here.
All Beds are sagging and you could feel the spring poking your back!
Bathrooms are dirty... It seems it had not been cleaned in a awhile.
If you are ever at the gold coast, try to spend a little more for a better hotel.... Trust me, it'll be worth it.

I have recently stayed at the Champellie Palms. The rooms are nice and the pool area is ok. The clime of 6 flights of stairs was pretty hard and I'm only 25, I would not recommend elderly or injured people to stay here. The service is horrible due to Mario lying to us continuously and he was very intimating.

We always stay with Mario & Janice whenever we can. Apartments always clean and maintained. Best value for price, and managers always go the extra yard to accommodate. Great location and close to eateries.

We arrived to a very well appointed appartment with tidy facilities. We had a 2 bedroom appartment with 4 people. But the Manager accused us of having 6 people in the room and charged us extra and then treatened to charge us for an extra person who stayed in another persons room. We are shock by his behavour.

Response from FMUTA, Manager at Champelli Palms Luxury Apartments
Responded 8 Jan 2011
Good morning, It is always with great concern when we receive a disappointing comment. We at Champelli Palms strive to surpass our A.A.A rating of 3-½ star and find it personally discouraging when we have an unhappy guest especially when it’s towards our approach. I appreciate your feedback on the “very well appointed apartment with tidy facilities”, we are always receiving positive reports as yours which makes it more disappointing when we find a negative response, however there is always two sides to every story and I feel this needs to be shared with you and other guests in response to your review to hopefully make you understand.. Depending on the length of a stay we will need access any apartment to service it or if maintenance is required. When your apartment was entered by management it was noted that you had a blow up mattress in the lounge room and we noticed more that the registered amount of guests staying in this apartment I am not sure if you are aware but Champelli Palms (As most resorts in Queensland) operate under a Management Rights Agreement, a brief overview of how this works is • Management rights, is on site caretaking and letting of units and townhouses. • Developers create management rights in the first place and sell them to clients. • Each Apartment is individually purchased and owned • You need a restricted letting agent's license to be a manager of a property. Therefore each apartment is owned separately and as a Resident Manager my role is to operate a business for each apartment owner and one of my many roles to make sure the guests operate under the required regulations including fire, work place health and safety and pool safety to name just a few. Our two bedroom apartments are registered for 4 guests with an option for 2 extra guests on rollaway mattresses. We are required by law to have prepared each night an occupancy report, in case of fire or any other life threatening events and we pass this to any relevant authorities (police, fire) that may request it. One of the requirements is to have the number of guests listed in each apartment, So I apologise if I came across a bit abruptly but it is important for not just you but every other guests safety in the complex if we notice something out of the ordinary we have a duty to address this We would love to look after you another time and I am sure you will enjoy your stay. Kind regards Mario
