We picked this hotel originally only because it had outdoor car parking and we have a higher than usual car that doesn’t fit into underground/covered car parks. It turned out to be an added extra bonus that the entire hotel was an excellent find!
I was a bit worried about some of the older reviews, but these are clearly pre-renovation. The hotel was nicely set out, the pool and BBQ area where clean and welcoming; and our room (#9) was very clean and well set out with a beautiful Scandinavian feel. The pod coffee machine as high quality tea choices were a nice added bonus; however it was the excellent customer service that really impressed us. We were able to leave our bags when we arrived in town early and Viktoria was very keen to make sure that we were looked after.
For a three star hotel, it was fantastic. My husband and I were both impressed with the cleanliness and customer service and would highly recommend the Blue Heron Motel if you are in Mermaid Waters and Burleigh Heads area or want a shopping to Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, which is only a five minute drive away. Also highly recommended if you car is extra high.

After we become the new owners of the Motel we closed immediately and started a complete renovation of the property. We always wanted to create a place where we would like to stay for a couple of nights. Everything you find in our rooms are things we would expect. WOW what a delightful surprise, it is a fabulous boutique Motel that has been renovated beautifully to a high standard. The room was light and airy with its own fridge, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and microwave. There was also cutlery, crockery and everything we needed to be self sufficient. The bed was comfortable and the shower was fabulous. The grounds were well maintained with an inviting looking pool, they had there own coffee van open each morning on site which was very handy, parking was easy and we got a spot each time we returned to the property. It was in a fabulous location a couple of streets from the beach and there were restaurants within walking distance. Although it is located on the Gold Coast Highway there was very little if any traffic noise. We will definitely stay at this Motel again it was an amazing find and I would highly recommend it to other travellers.

A lovely clean, well presented and well located motel. We were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was considering its location on a main road. The beach is walking distance from the motel and all the attractions of the Gold Coast are easily accessible from this central location. Our host was very welcoming and the room was comfortable and well appointed. We would definitely stay here again.

Very clean and comfortable. Has been recently refurbished. Limited parking. The motel has a gated area which is locked around 8 pm and you are given a key to get in which makes the units quite secure. Handy to several restaurants and take aways and not far from the Nobbys surf club for a great meal. Unfortunately there were a couple of annoying issues with our unit (#3). The hot water in both the shower and hand basin took approximately 5 minutes to come through. Not normally a problem but the hand basin was not draining to keep up so we had to stop the water running once it filled up and the basin would take well over 20 minutes to drain out again, by which time the water coming through was cold again. I was going to speak with the managers about it when we left and waited till after 8am to leave (advertised opening time) but there was still no one in the office so we just left the key in the out of hours key return (good feature).

Management is on-sight 24 hours to assist. We do open reception at 8am every day and do a travel path to unlock gates, check the grounds and say good morning to everyone that's up and ready to take on the day. The sign displayed when we have stepped away from the office for a moment asks that you please press the doorbell in which we can pop back to the office within moments. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this motel. Was surprisingly quiet for being on the main road. Rooms were very clean, beds were comfy and hosts were very helpful and welcoming. We have stayed at the Gold Coast regularly , and paid a lot more for "higher rated " establishments that don't come close to the quiet and comfort we found here. The Blue Heron will now be top of the list.

This is a lovely, small, family owned hotel only a few short minutes walk to the beach. Although it is located on the busy Gold Coast Highway, we did not notice any traffic noise whatsoever
It is obvious that the motel has had a renovation. The room was bright and cheerful and was immaculate. The beds were comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was amazing!
Modern conveniences like a coffee machine, microwave, free wi-fi and a smart TV made for a very comfortable and relaxing stay.
There is a lovely large pool which forms the centre of the motel. It was the perfect temperature and the area around was well maintained.
The location is fantastic with only a short walk to local restaurants and bars. It is only a few short minutes from Pacific Fair.
Will definitely stay here again.

We had a function in Burleigh Heads however wanted somewhere to stay overnight nearby. This was a great find and chosen because of its renovations. The rooms are beautifully and tastefully renovated. The bathroom is spacious and clean. I hope every weekend is fully booked for these owners as you can tell they have spent money reinvesting in this motel to make it the wonderful place it is today. 2 days before leaving Gold Coast to Canada, we stayed in this cute motel. And regretted…why we didn’t stay there weeks before??? Honestly the idea was to get a place as close as possible to a bus stop as we planned to go to the airport before midnight. It was a great success thanks to Carl (or Karl?). So let me said something about this Carl first. From his front desk that not opened 24 hours, like all accommodations there…not Touris friendly—Gold Coast government needs to think about it. Anyway… Carl helped me from how to get bus to airport, how to checkout way earlier without anyone around until what if I’d like to have my sister and her husband stay around just to have farewell chit chat. Thanks Carl.
Now, the place. Perhaps it was still school holidays, I didn’t see any restaurants (only MoreThai 5 minutes walking) or stores nearby. There are some on Tambourine Street but only the Coffee Shop & NightOwl that opened. Other places, you need to go pass that MoreThai restaurant about 15 minutes away. We’re fine though.
Blue Heron is not located right in front of a beach (my favourite location, usually), but it’s only 5 minutes walking to the back of the building. There you will get spectacular sunrise at Mermaid beach. I walked far to the right to get even more beautiful views: from Miami Beach to Don MacSween Parc. Amazing!
Inside the Blue Heron, we stayed in that room#4. Clean, fresh so we didn’t want to ruin it (oh never! We’re health conscious people). Utensils 🍴 were provided, that’s essential for me 😂. Since we would like to go back bring simple luggage, so we left our cereal bowl, mini bucket, also a little cereal and organic milk. We’re sorry. Well in short, we love Blue Heron and thinking about coming back for holiday. Not only for the beautiful Mermaid Beach but also to have peaceful out door breakfast in barbecue corner watching that cute swimming pool 😉. See you later, Blue Heron!

I had a fabulous stay at the Blue Heron! From the authentic warmth of the greeting through to the gorgeous sparkling clean room, I loved it. The beautiful host’s recommendation to eat at the local Thai was the icing on the cake. I will now always choose to stay here, no matter where my work might be on the GC.

I loved Blue Heron! It blends old world charm with the modern and functional. The hosts were very helpful, warm and friendly and I will most definitely stay with them again when next on the Gold Coast. The room was perfect - clean and comfortable and contained all necessary things. I arrived very late at night and the directions provided to me via text before my arrival were clear and easy to follow.
