Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Kingswood Motel unit 11 is by far the best motel unit we have ever experienced. Apart from the expected, the owners were amazing, accommodating, welcoming, friendly and down right beautiful people.
There was a full length mirror, scissors, a smart tv (so we could screen mirror with our own apps from our own devices), a toilet brush and airfreshener, scissors, the easiest clean electric frypan and a big, beautiful friendly cat. The motel was in walking distance from a supermarket, 2 restaurant/bars, swimming pool and a park.
If you stay in Waimate, these are definitely the Motels to stay at!

This was a really nice place to stay. The greeting at reception was friendly and considering they are going through renovations at the moment, everything was well explained and organised. We were in room three, which was lovely and clean. There is an electric blanket and a heater in the room and the shower worked well. Bed was comfy and aside from the odd car travelling down the main road, it was quiet all night. Great free internet, always valuable.

If we come back to Waimate, we would stay here again.

This was a real treat to stay here after being on the road.

Very modern and such a spacious room. Very clean, very tidy with an amazing shower.

A quick stroll up the street and food to die for. Handy location to take in the town.

Big thank you to Jenn our host for her care from our arrival
to departure. This make a huge difference in terms of our experience here.

Thank you.

The motel was clean, roomy and had recently been renovated.

Sadly, there were some omissions and ill-advised additions. We've stayed in motels frequently throughout NZ and know what is standard in motels today. This motel missed the mark.

There was no steam/toilet smell extraction in the bathroom. Opening windows proved a poor alternative. There was no cooling by air-con or fan. When I asked about a fan they didn't have one and was told they don't have a lot of hot days in Waimate. A couple of side tables needed so we could put our mugs/glasses on something while watching TV. The height of the TV gave us stiff necks. The recommended height for a TV of that size is 108 cm to the middle of the screen. We were assured that the double glazing would deaden any traffic noise. It didn’t and we were woken many times in the night by traffic rumbling past, many of them trucks. The fridge cannot be opened with one hand. The top sheet was heavy and unyielding. Finally, it is bad practice to give customers a toilet roll with only a few squares left on it.

We won't stay there again and unfortunately, there are few other options in Waimate.

Exceeded my expectations. I had one of the bedsits. It was a nice modern room. Spotlessly clean. Big shower with good pressure. Heaps of TV channels. Comfy bed. Couldn’t fault it.
Walking distance to Waimate township.
Friendly welcome. Recommended.

This is a really lovely motel. The two bedroom unit was spacious, quiet and light. The kitchenette had everything we needed. We watched Netflix on the Smart TV, which was great. It's only a short walk into town. And there is a very friendly motel cat! Can highly recommend.

We stayed in a 'two bedroom' unit with our young child and my mother (as we had a wedding to go to). While we saw some other units that our friends stayed in, this one really could not be called 2 bedroom as it had a bed in the lounge, cut off only by a curtain which didn't even reach the floor. And for $170 a night in Waimate!!

the second bedroom was spacious, with 3 single beds and a small wardrobe, but was located right in the carpark and entrance to another room which meant it was incredibly noisy for our son's cot which was right by the window. there is also some bizarre thing going on with the hot water whenever the neighbouring unit used hot water and it made a very loud vibrating noise. Small bathroom with a shower and toilet.

Stayed here for 3 night unit we had was very dated but tidy. The first 2 nights we had to put up with guests in other rooms having dogs. As the hosts had let them stay with them being waimate a&p show weekend. The dogs started barking at 5.30 with owners washing and grooming. Other wise a good stopping place. The new units look very nice.

We stayed in a newly renovated studio unit. It was small, but had a very nice bathroom and the bed was comfortable enough. No terrace or outside seating, but our host was very amenable and we enjoyed a pleasant happy hour in her garden with her. Short walk to couple of dining options.

This will become a regular business stop over for me. The hosts are very nice and the rooms are great.. not much more to tell than that! Well priced, clean and warm (it IS the middle of Winter!). It's very quiet here too, not that there is much traffic to disturb your sleep.
