The hosts were exceptionally welcoming; although advertised as a B&B, when we were forced to find accommodation because of the closure of the State highway due to floods, they invited us to share their evening meal and, when we said we had bought some supper already, they provided us with plates and glasses; we already had a large picnic table and chairs for our use on the terrace outside.
The views over the fields and mountains as we ate were superb.
The breakfast was huge and absolutely magnificent - cooked when we wanted it by a trained chef - Oliver.[!]
The animals were all very friendly and the location really quiet although just off the State Highway..
The rooms were 5 star hotel standard. Highly recommended.
If going to Timaru stay here and drive to Timaru [ 20 mins.] you'll never find something as good there.

It was our pleasure to be able to assist you during this trying period. We are so glad that you managed to make it back to the UK in spite of what NZ weather and your return airlines threw your way. Very best regards Cam and Pam

Pam and Ollie are such kind and friendly hosts. They welcome you into their B&B, making the stay so comfortable and relaxing. The food is amazing. Our children adored Molly and the other animals. Lots of entertainment for the kids. Pam and Ollie are so knowledgeable of the lo al area so will point out a number of different places and activities to go and explore. We will definitely be back when we next visit the South Island.

What a wonderful place to be. My adult daughter, who has neurodiversity, and I stayed for 3 nights. We assisted farm tasks, with day old chicks, gathering eggs, and went to collect blackberries for jam, and apples for pies. It's like coming home to family. Top class spacious bedrooms, sumptuous linen, and wonderful care. Cam and Pam are fantastic hosts who become close friends if that's what you like in a farm stay. I am sure we will be back.

Ollie and Pam welcomed us with open arms for our first night in New Zealand. The remodeled historic post office was roomy and charming. Everything provided in our large room with comfortable king bed and a great shower. Best was chef Ollie’s sumptuous lamb dinner and full breakfast in the morning. We enjoyed stories about their families’ histories and petting their sweet dog, Molly. Their garden and grounds are lovely with their sheep and goat close by.

I am so happy I found this quaint little B&B at Temuka.

We were surprised at how clean it was, despite being situated in a farm. Shoes are not allowed in the house, and the bedroom was spick and span.

Pam the mistress of the house was ill, so her husband, Oli, single handedly hosted us. He had gotten some of their eggs fertilized a few days prior to our arrival so that little chicks would hatch in time for our stay. Our kids were so thrilled to chase the chooks around the garden, and even got to hold the two day old chick. Oli also gave us bread to feed the goats, and the kids got to bottle feed the calves. The kids’ favorite was Molly the border collie. She was so affectionate and kept pawing us and requesting for tummy rubs.

Oli had prepared fruits and cookies for our tea upon arrival, and a fully cooked breakfast with a wide spread the next morning. It consisted of toast, poached eggs, yogurt, cereal, sausages, bacon, grilled tomatoes, blanched asparagus, coffee/tea, freshly squeezed juice. What a treat!

Whilst we enjoyed the stay, we also enjoyed conversing with Oli. He’s an earnest man who is obliging and honest. When I asked why he didn’t register his b&b with the big booking platforms, he said he did not want a case of double bookings - it would be disastrous for guests. Also, he doesn’t take deposits upfront and you pay 100% only during your stay. This goes to show what incredibly trusting and wholesome people Oli and Pam are. We were sad to leave this lovely farm and hope to return one day.

Restored with loads of love and character, this homestead is gorgeous and Pam and Cam Oliver truly make you feel at home. This was our most comfy sleep all holiday. We got chatting and were learning so much about the area from our hosts that we forgot to take pics of the home and the farmyard friends (cows, calves, turkeys, chickens and goats). We'll have to get photos next time ...

Our family stayed at Oliver's over Chinese New Year for three nights. Ollie could not have been a better host to us, taking special care of our needs and ensuring a comfortable stay for all of us. We were a relatively big group - my husband and I, our two toddlers, and my senior citizen parents. We took up both the bedrooms and I note that Ollie's wife was out of town, so I'm amazed at how well he took care of both his farm animals and all of us so well, all with a smile on his face the whole weekend! He personally cooked gourmet hot breakfasts and dinners for us. You will not be disappointed with the quality of these meals. Dinner was so good on the first night (lamb leg and gravy + fresh vegetable side dishes and an amazing apple pie for dessert), that we opted not to eat out the following night and asked him to prepare another feast for us (which he did! Bacon wrapped chicken thighs...mmm).

We all enjoyed experiencing life on this farm. My mom and husband milked a goat, and my three year old got to bottle feed their baby goat every day. We got some adorable photos. Particularly, on Chinese New Year, I really wanted to take a picture of our girls with a rooster given it's the year of the Rooster. Ollie caught a rooster for us with his bare hands not once, but twice(!) so that I could get the perfect photo. He even brought a baby chicken for my daughter to hold as well. Truly a wonderful experience for the whole family.

The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. Shower and bathroom were very clean with great bath products provided as well. The room that my parents stayed in had a nice view of the farm land.

Location wise, this is a good place to stay if you are looking for a rest stop between Christchurch and Dunedin. The only thing I will call out as a consideration is Temuka itself is a small town with not a whole lot to do if you are a tourist. That being said, if you are looking for a comfortable, family friendly place to relax and stay, this is a wonderful option for you.

Whilst driving down the coast of New Zealand we were looking for a relaxed stay and to get a bit closer to some of the animals. Our hosts were very welcoming, you feel like family friends rather than customers. They cook, chat, and show you around. The animals are delightful, who could not enjoy hand feeding calfs and baby lambs. Goats, chickens, sheep, cows and the occasional turkey all surround the house and you are handed a bottle of warm milk when the lambs bleating reminds them it's feeding time. The room we had was very comfortable, clean, and had a nice bathroom. Breakfast was very generous. Thoroughly recommended and good value.

I would highly recommend staying with "Ollie" and Pam at their fine B&B in Temuka. They went out of their way to make us comfortable in their lovely, newly restored home with delicious nibbles (Ollie formerly a chef) with homemade goat cheeses and figs. Great wine and fun conversation with real "people people". They aren't a huge farm, but they have several animals and treat them humanely as if pets. I had the fun of learning how to milk one of the goats, Rosie! That was fabulous. The couches are cozy, the spa outside was nice under the stars, and the beds were divine. Very fancy bedrooms in fact!
I hope to visit them again some day. Pam's homemade little goat soaps were a great souvenir!

Hi Laura, Thank you for your review. It was great to have someone to help with Rosie. She has now been dried off and is waiting for us to borrow a nice Billy goat for her and her mates, so it can all start again in the spring. We hope that mum and dad enjoyed their trip to NZ and had a safe journey home. Pam and Cam

We stayed at Ollie's farm while hunting in the hill country for a week. We had no idea what to expect but were amazed at Ollie and Pam's hospitality. They treated us like family and we enjoyed the time we spent with them talking about life. They even went out of their way to celebrate our friends birthday and got him a gift. The accommodations are 5 star with comfort and cleanliness. Ollies cooking rivals any expensive resturant I've ever been to and we tried many new things we've never heard of but they were all fantastic.
