Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were very lucky to have booked this motel, Sally the owner was very helpful in sending some valuables we left in the room. Sterling service. We had room 7, excellent with a little garden we sat out and ate in. The kitchen facilities were more than adequate and more than most motels we stayed in. Great bed, good shower. What's not to like.

Great people own this place and that's a real plus. To be truthful it feels dated decor wise and we found the beds very hard but if you needed support for a bad back it would be good. Nice little play area for kids and it had covered parking which we thought was a great asset. Good rate for the night.

Rangiora Lodge Motel is an older motel, however it is clean and has fresh paint. The kitchen area was functional but original. Bed is comfortable. Shower was good There is undercover parking for your car. The owners are friendly helpful people. We asked about dinner options and they recommended The Plough Hotel about 200 metres away on the same street as the motel. This was a good place to eat and the hotel has been trading since 1861 so it has that nice old feel.

Six motel units with sheltered and numbered car parks in a semi rural setting within walking distance of the town centre. Our Unit was spacious with quality areas and could sleep 3 people. Friendly and professional service all at a very reasonable price. It was recommended to us by a local friend and she could noit be more right!

We stayed here for two nights while researching family history in the Rangiora area. The unit was somewhat dated but was generally well maintained with comfortable beds, new appliances and furnishings. An exception was the multifunction oven which did not work. The owner diagnosed a faulty wall switch for it which an electrician replaced the following day. This was appreciated but we still couldn't use it for frying a steak because the round-bottom frying pan had little contact with the hotplate. The unit was quiet despite being on a main road with little traffic during the night. Parking under cover is a bonus to shield the car from the hot sun. Apart from the kitchen problems, we were pleased with the unit. Having a courteous and helpful host makes things easy when there are issues like the cooker not working. If we needed to stay in Rangiora again, we wouldn't hesitate to return to this motel. We felt it was good value, being cheaper than most Christchurch motels.

We wanted to stay just outside of Christchurch and Rangiora was perfect. This motel was ideal for us - clean and tidy, it had everything we needed. The proprietors were friendly and helpful. The best thing was the pub The Plough nearby, the best pub we've eaten in so far. Great for dinner and breakfast. The only negative is that I woke up with my torso covered in small bites (we'll about a dozen), wasn't mozzies, I hadn't been bitten so far in my 2 weeks travelling.

It looks a nice place overall. We had booked the least expensive room which was the queen room connected to the main building. Wish we had booked one of the other rooms though as they did look nicer. It was clean but could be improved with a little better planning. Perhaps the kitchen area could be at the entrance where the bed is (which would be better further inside where there would be ample room to upgrade to a King). This would allow a solution to having no actual sink by the small cooker and microwave. A bowl had to be used for washing and water obtained from the shower area. It would be easy enough to plumb water in from the pipes in the bathroom if the sink/kitchen were on the adjoining wall. The room was a good size. It does have potential to be better and I did have the impression that the hotel is well cared for. It is just under a mile to easily walk to the centre.

Despite being apparently stuck in a 1970s timewarp, our unit was squeaky clean and remarkably spacious, with a living room, bedroom, kitchen area and bathroom. Among all the other standard facilities, we were surprised to find a large selection of glassware! Compared to the rest of our trip, this was a great value one-night stop. The motel is in a quiet leafy location on the western outskirts of Rangiora. For dinner, it's a 250m walk to the Plough Hotel.
