The unit we had had a great view and the facilities were good. Comfortable beds. The one thing that let it down was the horrible smell that was possibly a left over cooking smell. It was so bad the staff who cleaned the unit could not have missed it and should not have let it out for customers. It was still there after fully airing the unit for a couple of hours and also the next day. It was late when we came back to the unit in the evening so we didn't complain then. Given that, I'd like to add that the day after when we went to let the people at the desk know about the problem, they couldn't have done any better when dealing with it. They were great and also had good solutions we could have used if we'd wanted to. Great to deal with and very nice. Thanks for your great handling of the issue once we'd mentioned it. Excellent desk staff.

Loved our newly renovated motel room (302) with outdoor deck. It was away from the main hotel but easy car ride of a few minutes or 15 minute walk to the main hotel. There is a full kitchen with oven and a separate bedroom, the kids slept on the other double and sofa beds. The main area had a heat pump and bedroom and an electric heater. Beds were comfy and shower has decent pressure. As it had just snowed the kids loved being able to go out side to throw snow balls. Would go back.

Motels are old but have been updated, colour scheme is very retro and not particularly pleasant. Strong room odour on arrival which did not disappeared. Bed was comfortable enough but small, heat pump temperamental and bathroom heater did not work. Units are located away from main Hotel building and if you want a view make sure you request an elevated unit, ours wasn't so had no outlook. Overall a very average stay, would look elsewhere next time.

Second time we have stayed here. Fresh and bright, recently renovated rooms. Love that the rooms are self catering with a full oven. Dining table and sofa is also nice to have. We cooked our own breakfast and lunch but went to Chamois Bar and Hermitage for evening meals which were both great. Beds could be better, but we still love staying here.

Our motel room was clean, good sized, adequately appointed, and appeared to have been recently refurbished. The view from our balcony was down the valley rather than of the mountains. This was fine as we could sit out and see the stars at night. (I believe I could have chosen to pay more for mountain views.) Our meals at the Chamois Bar and Old Mountaineer's Cafe were good and service was efficient. This was the most expensive lodging on our New Zealand vacation, but the location is remote and the scenery is spectacular. I felt $5/day internet access was uncalled for given the price of the room.
