Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

as soon as we arrived we were treated with friendliness. It was raining but we quickly entered the property and tea and freshly made cake was available. Lizzie had to go out but we had a great chat with John and then Lizzie returned and the chat continued. We were the only guests staying and so got a very personal service. They advised of places to eat which was great. The breakfast was the best we had on our 4 week trip around New Zealand. We left feeling they had made us very welcome into their home and we would definitely stay here again if we come back to this part of the world. Derek & Julia from Manchester england

We were visiting friends in town, and needed last minute accommodation. Greeted with a nice warm fire and warm beds. Delish breakfast of bacon and eggs with lovely coffee. Served on beautiful china. Lizzie and John lovely to chat too. Easy to stay with, made us feel very welcome. Our overnight stop turned into a mini holiday.

As a solo Traveller I am a little apprehensive to arrive at a new place but Skibo is a very welcoming, warm and friendly home. Lizzie quickly sorted out my shuttle to Mt Hutt for the next morning. The bed was very comfortable, delicious breakfast (eggs and bacon) and lovely fire in the common living area. I would definitely stay again when in Methven.

You can stay in a characterless motel or you can stay in a place like Skibo....and it is SO much better at Skibo. We were greeted by a smiling Lizzie and offered tea and muffins, which we ate in the guest lounge with the fire on. We had been instantly upgraded to a larger room, and made to feel very welcome in amongst ambient surroundings.. There was nothing that we wanted for..Hubbie loved to be able to nibble from the cookie jar but it is the breakfast you need to leave ample time for....we had Birchers museli and bacon and eggs with toast. It set us up for the whole day! Skibo is walking distance to an array of pubs, and coffee shops and the great methven Op shop.We loved meeting Lizzie and John..south island locals and hope to be able to return again on our next trip South.

My boyfriend and I stayed here after a night of snowboarding on Mt Hutt and it was the perfect spot to sleep and relax after a day on the mountain. The room was cute and very clean and had everything we needed. The town is cute and you can walk everywhere. We enjoyed quite a few pints at blue pub! Lizzie the host is a legend! She made the best breakfast you could imagine and was perfect for our big drive ahead that day! Thanks again Lizzie!!
