Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Although Abisko Lodge is dated back to the seventies and looking a bit dated, it was clean and tidy. The atmosphere and reception we got for the managers was excellent and more than made up for the age of the building. The shower was fantastic, lovely hot, hot water and strong pressure of water. I would really recommend Abisko Lodge.

The whole story started when we travelled from Dunedin to Methven towing our caravan to stay in the holiday Park associated with Abisko. Once there we found if we hadn't booked a place at the hot pools there was no way we would get in. Guess what. We still haven't been and likely will never make the effort again. Then things went slightly pear shaped and that was reflected when we sat down at the end of the four night stay. First. It is a great wee caravan park. Its intimate and we met and socialised with some wonderful people but that is where it gets its most points. During our time there I do not believe toilets or bathrooms were cleaned nor toilet rolls replenished. The large app 80Litre rubbish bin in the kitchen was full to overflowing the entire duration. A kitchen hob

Friendly service from the female manager from the initial booking to checkout. Appreciated the complimentary continental breakfast! Covered outdoor area was great for us all to hang out in. Comfortable beds & super hot water.

Great service, well priced. A great place to get together with friends. Continental breakfast was fantastic. Plenty of options for accomodation from self contained rooms to camping/caravan facilities so it catered for us all. Nice outdoor covered area and plenty of room to put up the badminton net.

Words cannot explain how FANTASTIC our stay was here! Firstly we arrived last minute in the pouring rain wanting to get out of our camper for the night and Linda greeted us with a massive smile and was super accommodating. Our room was lovely - we even were offered Linda's car to drive to the hot pools so to not have to take the camper there and the breakfast in the morning was tasty! When we tried to leave in the morning, our camper battery was dead! Linda let us sit in the warm, fire cranking, lounge with a hot coffee while we waited for the AA. Couldn't recommend this place more! Thank you so much Linda :)

Thank you so much Steph. You really are an amazing host ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’ve been staying at the Abisko camp ground this ski season. Every thing is immaculately clean , great camp ground with everything you need. The best thing the Abisko is however Steph. She is just super friendly, professionally always available . Super helpful and always has time for a chat . She makes the place more the like staying with friends than just a camp site. Thanks Steph .., oh my what will we go without you next year. 😢

This was a lovely place to camp. Really quiet and peaceful with clean bathrooms and kitchen area. Owner is incredible. I dropped my glasses in the carpark and she posted them back to auckland for me with no issues. Over all just a great place with great hospitality.

I came through the lodge as a Te Araroa (a 3000km trail across NZ) walker meeting up with my parents for a few days. The first kind thing the owners did was allow me to set up my tent beside my parent's camper van for free which was amazing alone. The second thing they did was way above and beyond. One of my hiking poles had broken on the trail and had become useless. The owners, with no thought of reward, offered to try their best to fix it! The next day I picked it up and they had spent hours trying to repair my gear, and it worked! The pole held up in the backcountry for a few more days which was exactly what I needed. I can't recommend this lodge enough, they will take care of you!

I stayed this accommodation for two nights - booked via Agoda with my Amex card and it says total charge includes taxes and fees. I understand some hotels charge credit card fee however I was always informed before this is charged. This was quite annoying when I noticed they charged me extra - presumably credit card fee? - it is still being investigated. Room was very very dated. There was no toiletries in the bathroom. Heater is very loud when turned on and I wasn't sure if the smoke smell comes from the outside or from the heater. I had to turn it off even though it was freezing. WIFI: you will be given 200mb voucher when you check in. You will have to pay for your internet after that. Overall I did NOT enjoy this accommodation at all. I would not recommend this
