Unique and stunning spot to spend the night. Amber & Patrick were very welcoming and cooked us a fantastic dinner. The domes are spacious, private and very comfy. Great selection for breakfast in the morning too. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

Wonderful night away with my hubby, off the grid was even better. Amber and Patrick were great hosts , cooked some beautiful food and made us feel really welcome. Baths first thing in the crisp morning with the birds flying around we couldn't of asked for more of a peaceful Sunday morning. We will definitely be back!!!

Stunning in every single way! The thought that has gone into this superb place indicates the love Amber and Patrick have for this part of the world. Lets start with the pick-up by Patrick at River T Wines - so friendly and accommodating. Chucked our E-Bikes on charge in the barn behind the winery and off we went up the hill to paradise! The domes are so tastefully done, super comfy beds, gorgeous linen, a spotlessly clean composting toilet, trolley with pure spring water jug and glasses, wood burner and wood which was very welcome as it was a touch cold when we arrived late afternoon. Meticulously thought-out details, right down to the toilet roll holder. The shower/toilet block was so clean and stylishly done. What struck me was the cleanliness, being so remote backing onto a forest I would have expected spiders, ants and any number of insects living it up but nothing. I loved the old ladder used for the hand towels, the games, books, hot water bottles, lovely tea-pots, the entire kitchen set-up in the main house was so homely and yet stylish. We felt so well cared for and welcome. Dinner was AMAZING!!! Lamb shanks, roast potatoes/vegetables, spinach and pumpkin/kumara salad followed by my all-time favourite dessert - choc mousse! One of our party is celiac which was accommodated without missing a beat. Our packed lunch the next morning was a stunning vegetable quiche. Breakfast was set up for us first thing in the morning with gorgeous little labels, everything was fresh and delicious. I like that we were left to help ourselves and make whatever we fancied. And the highlight among the highlight that was staying here... the outdoor baths! So welcome after a long ride (A2O) - 2 x 2 repurposed iron baths in their own little open air room - again every little detail thought about, antlers for hooks, cleaning products if needed, we however found them extremely clean. Laying there, in the warm water, surrounded by the sounds of the night forest, that will stay with me forever. I love everything this couple has created, the fact is it also off-grid is astounding to me. No comfort has been spared. All four of us loved it - in fact I can say all six of us - as we made friends with the other couple staying and continued our laughs and dinners for the last few days of the trail. The world needs more people like Amber and Patrick, ethically running a business with love, care and attention.

Amber and Patrick where very friendly and kind hosts. Both very accommodating! Incredible views and accommodation. We stayed in the Big Ben dome it was very beautiful atmosphere with luxury bedding and furniture and the night sky with all the stars shining in. My favourite part was the two outdoor baths next to each other. We had Ambers very tasty lamb shanks for our meal. It Was refreshing and inspiring to see the environmentally conscious approach around us also to be apart of this! We left feeling relaxed, reconnected and at ease. Definitely will return Definitely will be surprising people with gift vouchers for them to enjoy this experience too!

We stayed 1 night, domes were what we expected, nice and big, beautiful view down the valley, and private from the other domes. the large king size bed was very comfortable. We visited in October and couldn't use the fireplace, but will admit we were cold (there is hot water bottles in the kitchen, which I did use) but as you are only in a tent the temperature dropped and the next morning was freezing. If we had been able to use the fireplace, I'm sure the dome would have been lovely and cosy. The comment from the owner of cold being mind over matter was a little off. The amenities block was only a short walk away, with flush toilets and hot showers, with great water pressure. But the showers were on the small size with not a lot of space to place your clothes etc. The kitchen dining area was a good size, but lack of a fridge wasn't what we had expected. I know it is an off grid experience but a gas fridge is needed. Breakfast was nice, plenty of fresh eggs, cereal and toast. Was lacking a bowl of fruit. Watching the owner pour the left over milk and orange juice from the jugs back into the bottles wasn't a good look. How old is that milk? considering there is no fridge. the grass had obviously been weed whacked the day we arrive, unfortunately as it wasn't swept off the paths or deck, we had it stuck to our shoes and walked it through the dome and amenities block. Don't get me wrong we enjoyed the experience, just feel that for the cost a few things need to be better.

Thank you for your detailed review of your stay. It's great to hear that you enjoyed the dome, the beautiful view, and the comfortable super-king sized bed. However, it's clear that there were some areas that could use improvement. I'll address your points one by one: Fireplace: We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the unavailability of the fireplace during your stay. Our wood supply is a labor-intensive process, and we regret that we fell short on that particular night. Patrick's comment was not appropriate, and rest assured, he has been addressed about it. We have since replenished our wood stock and are actively monitoring temperatures to ensure a more consistent supply for our guests as it has been a colder than normal spring and therefore up until yesterday we were still using the fires in the domes. Showers: Glad you enjoyed the pressure of the showers, the size of the showers are a standard size and we provide 3 hooks and a shelf to put clothes and other necessities on. Fridge: We are very aware of the situation with the lack of fridge. We did have a solar fridge, but it wasn't up to standard so we removed it. We provide a cooler box with ice packs to keep milk and wine/beer cold, if people need to keep food cold we have spare chilly bins and ice packs for them. We are continually improving our facilities as we are able, and our next project is to upgrade our solar system so that we can then run a full sized fridge and freezer - coming in 2024! Milk: We do our grocery shopping weekly, and the milk is immediately stored in our home freezer. Each night, a single bottle is taken out to defrost overnight, ensuring that only the needed amount is used the next day. Any leftover milk is used at our home, and if there's an excess that we can't consume, we employ a sustainable approach by fermenting it for our chickens, who thoroughly enjoy it. Our larger solar electricity system at home supports two fridges and two freezers, ensuring that everything remains well-preserved. Rest assured, the milk we provide during your stay is consistently fresh. In the past, we included a fruit bowl, but after noticing that a majority of guests didn't consume it, we made the decision to discontinue this offering to minimize wastage. Grass: Patrick did the weed whacking on the day you got here. Unfortunately, he couldn't rake it up as usual because of time constraints, especially when guests show up early. We know it wasn't ideal, and we're sorry for any inconvenience. We're doing our best to manage these situations and appreciate your understanding. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused during your stay. We take pride in offering a unique off-grid experience in a special location, with a strong focus on sustainability. We appreciate your insights and understanding of the challenges that come with our off-grid setup. Your feedback is important to us, and we are continuously working to improve our offerings.

Definitely one of the most amazing places I have been to. It was the little touches, the decor, the comfy bed, games for the kids, a delicious home cooked meal, breakfast. We wanted for nothing. The views are stunning! Pure luxury.
