Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

for a bigger trip, with overnight we chose this Motel, conveniently, you can park that car right in front of the room.
that room looks cozy, it was thought of a lot, e.g. an electric chmeniee, since room has two double beds, and dining table, room is a little nagging, since there is no wardrobe or clothes rack on site, and we two people, with suitcases, have a little space problems.so there is also bathroom with shower , is also ok, only there is a hair dryer, but no outlet in the bathroom. too bad.

Very comfortable place. Really love the location, quiet street, just off the main drag. The room seem quite well soundproofed, and the place has good quality drapes to keep the morning springtime sun from interrupting your sleep. What a great place. Owner is nice too.

The room was homely furnished with a table and chairs on the terrace. It was very well equipped with fridge, microwave, tea station dishes etc. Covered parking next to the entrance. Good and quiet location in the village center

Fairlie was a convenient stop on a long drive and Fairlie a nice country town. Glad I chose the Mackenzie as it is one of the nicest motel rooms, do not be fooled by the exterior. Microwave, fridge and simple crockery were useful and the verandah at the rear was lovely to relax on after a long drive. Highly recommended and only a short drive to Lake Tekapo.

We had the best experience with the owners going out of their way to make arriving at an awkward time easy. Everything was sparkly clean and fresh, our room was warm with heat pump preset before we arrived, the shower had awesome pressure and the bed was super comfy!
And what’s more it was reasonably priced, we would stay again for sure.
Plus it’s located close to town for an easy stroll dinner and breakfast 1/2 a block away.

We stayed in a lot of motels in our trip to New Zealand. This was the best by a long way. The room was extremely large, well furnished and clean. It also had a deligthful garden/sitting out area.

Fairlie is a good place to spend the night if you want to split the journey between Wanaka or Queenstown and Christchurch. It has a good restaurant (the Old Library) and a well-known bakery which makes excellent pies (the Fairlie Bakehouse). If you add this motel, I'd strongly recommend it for a stay.

Fabolous. Clean, modern, spacious. Efficient, welcoming reception. This was a very welcome upgrade from of our recent, dismal, over-priced accommodation experience in Queenstown. I was travelling the south Island with my son, out from the UK, and this was by far the best accommodation of our tour. And outstanding value.

Great base very handy to the town center, restaurants, cafes etc. Units have been done up very clean, tidy, private deck area with unit. Have the basics for cooking but the local dining is cheaper than cooking. Always enjoy visiting Farlie winter or summer worth having a look.

We stopped here on our way to Queenstown and it was great. We booked and arrived late and the owner very kindly had the heaters and lights on for us when we arrived. It was freezing outside but the room was nice and toasty. The motel was very clean and tidy with nice comfortable beds and very reasonably priced. We would definitely stay again and recommend this place to others.

Conveniently located and a good value for money. The owner was friendly and welcoming . Our room was super clean and bed was comfortable. It had everything what we needed for our overnight stay. Tip: Great food at “Eat cafe and bar” close by.
