The two of us stayed for two nights in the very large family cabin because it was the last accommodation available, thus it was much more than necessary. However, we did make use of the entire first floor, that included a large kitchen, dining area, sitting area, bedroom and bathroom. Although the unit seemed to be in a state of...

Hi, We're glad you enjoyed your recent stay with us. You were fortunate to get a room for 2 nights at late notice. You'll be pleased to know the porch area is tidier now. We'd just had a large load of firewood delivered which is now all sorted. It's great you had good weather for your stay and were able...

Comfortable and cozy accommodations. At night you could hear the kiwis calling. Hosts were friendly and informative. We stayed for two nights and hiked around Arthur's Pass. A short hike into the town centre where ice cream cones are huge!

Hi, Thanks for posting a review. We still don't tire of hearing the Kiwi calling at night. It makes the local pest trapping programme seem all worthwhile. You're spot on about the ice creams at the Store as well, a meal in themselves. Thanks for staying in "Our gem in the Southern Alps", Pete and Fi

We stayed here for a couple of nights whilst we explored the area. We received a very warm welcome and the hosts were very helpful. The unit was clean and comfortable if a bit dated. There is a separate bedroom and bathroom to the main lounge/kitchenette.The kitchenette is very well equipped but bring your own food as the only source...

Thank-you for your review. If you are not eating out at the Wobbly Kea or the Bealey Hotel then you are right about bringing your own food. The Arthur's Pass Cafe and Store is a cafe and so has very limited groceries. As we get into winter this will be even more apparent. However, the cafe does whip up a...

After a long drive you need a good old fashioned kiwi welcome, and that is just what we got. Our hosts could not have been more friendly, helpful and obliging. We had several electric vehicles to plug in for the night and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were toasty warm, clean and charming. Will be back... some day...

Thank-you, we enjoyed meeting you and hearing about your trip especially as recharging stations are a new phenomenon on route to the mountains. The cars were beautifully quiet and we hope to see more and more electric cars in the future. They go well with the serenity of the mountains.

This motel is not the most modern one but the facilities do what is expected of them. The room was a bit small and an odd shape but it was all clean and we had all the equipment we required to make our stay pleasurable. The DVD loan arrangement is a very good idea

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to post a review after your recent stay with us. Pleased you found everything to help make your stay pleasurable. Our DVD collection (donations to the local Arthur's Pass Wildlife Trust) is very handy for the quiet evenings indoors. Thanks for staying at Our gem in the Southern Alps, Pete and Fi.

Hey folks this motel is not a 5 star hotel, nor does it pretend to be. It's a beautifully clean motel for dedicated mountain walkers and those who love the countryside. The rooms were clean, warm, had good basic cooking facilities and comfortable. The staff were welcoming and helpful. It's my first experience using a washing machine and dryer outside....

Hi, thanks for staying with us recently. Having the guest laundry outside (under cover) makes it more easily accessible for our guests. The only down side is when we get a few good frosts the pipes are known to freeze up. I hope you managed to get out and about to enjoy a walk on one of the many nearby...

Beautiful large cabins, very clean, self catering, shared laundry, private bathrooms. Great for couples or a family. Beds were very comfortable with high quality sheets. Fiona one of the owners was great to talk to and full on information. Great internet. Location and scenery are magnificent. Couldn't stress how fantastic it was staying here.

We consider ourselves to be very fortunate to live in a genuine piece of paradise and love being able to share that with travellers. Thanks for staying,...

Each cabin is well equipped for self catering but be aware you might do well to bring supplies because there is little in the way of a groceries store in the village. The cabins are cosy, and very comfortable - especially the beds. The bathrooms are tiny but offer all that is needed, with plenty of towels. And the hosts...

Thank-you for your lovely review. We are delighted you slept so well. The Arthur's Pass store is excellent but more of a cafe than a grocery store, as you so rightly point out. We recommend people shop in Christchurch or Darfield on the East Coast and Hokitika or Greymouth on the West Coast. If guests are coming from Nelson or...

Come prepared, shop before hand, then you have all the facilities to enjoy a comfortable stay. Basic but has most things you need. Only issue is wifi which is poor both here are in Arthur's pass generally.

Hi, thanks for posting a review. Good advice re shopping before you arrive, as the local Store sells only limited grocery items. Hopefully you were able to also enjoy some of the many walks and amazing scenery we have on offer in the area. Thanks for staying, Pete and Fi

Needed a place to stay at on my way back to Christchurch Airport. Chose Arthur's Pass as it was within 2 hours driving of Christchurch. The Motel is made up of several self-catering cabins on the southern edge of the Hamlet itself. The cabin was comfortable and would be excellent to use as a base for hiking (tramping) in the...

Hi, Glad we were able to be of assistance with printing out your boarding pass. Next time you'll have to stay longer and get a better taste of the many hikes in the area. Bit surprised by your bathroom comment as all our bathrooms have either high windows or are frosted glass which prevents anyone looking in. It's also a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
High in the Southern Alps, nestled amongst mountains and beech forest, is Arthur's Pass Village. A comfortable two hour drive from Christchurch, Arthur's Pass offers some of the best unspoilt hiking and scenery in New Zealand. The hiking/walking tracks vary from a one-hour walk up to the Punchbowl Falls, to a multi-day hike in the mountains.Arthur's Pass Alpine Motel, conveniently situated in the village, offers fantastic self contained Motel accommodation, complete with your own bathroom and kitchen. A recent upgrade has seen the installation of double glazed windows and doors to the majority of our units to increase warmth and decrease noise. We also offer free WIFI. Our warm, cosy cabins (some with gas fires) sleep 1-5 people. With a hotel and restaurant a short walk from our motel, it is the perfect location to base yourself for some leisurely walking and tramping, or a hike up to Avalanche Peak for a grand view of the Southern Alps. You can even meet some cheeky kea or listen to the kiwi call at night. Your hosts and owners, Pete and Fi Neale, have a wealth of knowledge about the area, having holidayed in the area for the past 40+ years. ... more   less
