We enjoyed our two-night stay here very much. While this isn’t the same level of 5-star that you might enjoy at a Four Seasons or a high-end African safari lodge (which is sort of what they’re going for), they are very mission-oriented and passionate about being so. The lodge is part of a conservation project, with everything eco-sensitve. It's in...

Enjoyed our stay at Wilderness Lodge. Greg and the staff are welcoming and accommodating. Alan provides simple nature walks on the grounds and Neil educates on merino sheep. Views from the rooms are amazing. Meals chef prepared and the lodge features a very good selection of NZ wines. You can even have a lunch packed for your day hike, if...

The lodge is fine...there is absolutely nothing wrong with it...unless you have high expectations. We found the accommodations to be comfortable and clean. The staff was quite courtesy and helpful. Dinner, however, was mediocre at best (my wife and I each had the beef tenderloin). The lodge is surrounded by miles of hiking trails overlooking interesting terrain. We walked perhaps...

The location of this lodge is perfect as it sits in Arthur's Pass, which is very mountainous giving wonderful views from both bedrooms, lounge and dining room. The bedroom was very well appointed and whilst I have read comments about a lack of a television I view this as a positive, as I am on holiday and am glad to...

Dear Peter M, Thanks for your review. It's great to hear that your Wilderness Lodge Arthur's Pass experience was so memorable. It sounds like your really embraced the atmosphere and made the most of your time with us. Through peak periods in the restaurant there can be slight delays. Great location, walks etc, but dinner was a disappointment. First night delicious looking food was served stone cold. Second night the roast leg of leg of lamb looked, and tasted like, it came out of a tin. Staff were charming, but a bit thin on the ground. Verdict: Good value it it were half the price.

Dear PeterM123, Thanks for your review. We do appreciate feedback, both good and bad. Our apologies for not meeting expectations in the restaurant. We pride ourselves on the quality of our food and it's disappointing we did not deliver on this to you. Slow cooked lamb from the Wilderness Lodge farm is our signature dish and it should always be...

I loved this lodge. Our room had a balcony with a view, a fire place, heated bathroom floors and towel racks. The lodge had complimentary full size washers and dryers for guests..a first in my many years of travel. They offered guided hikes some complimentary and some for a fee. We particularly enjoyed watching the sheep dogs work and the...

Dear Christina, Thanks for your review. We know how important washing facilities are when you are travelling, particularly when you are on an active holiday. Both our Wilderness Lodges offer free laundry facilities for this reason. We always give guests the option to dine alone or with others and this is entirely up to personal preference so our apologies if...

We stayed here for two nights, and combined rest with some activities. It's a beautiful place; very peaceful with stunning mountain views. The staff were warm and welcoming. The accommodation was roomy, if a little spartan, but there was a narrow balcony to enjoy. From the lodge there are a series of walks which are well signed. We did several...

Dear Lastword2016, Thanks for sharing your experience via TripAdvisor, we do appreciate it. Good to hear you enjoyed your time with us. We offer two complimentary shorter trips daily along with self-guided options. The pricing for our longer trips reflects the costs of transport, trained naturalist guides, conservation fees etc. We must balance making these small group trips affordable while...

Stopped here on our travels. Wonderful location with loads of walks with views and local wildlife. You need to be fit and able as it can be a bit hilly and with uneven ground. Farm tour with the Marino sheep is very good. Views stunning. Room was very good, clean and spacious. No TV (no problem) or Wifi in the...
