what a wonderful experience. the rooms were lovely with amazing views. The food was fantastic. The welcome couldn't have been better. We did the early morning walk and the visit to the farm and a star gazing trip. All were excellent, and our guide was very knowledgeable. We also did our washing for free.. We went for a walk on...

There are twenty mountain view rooms and four alpine view lodges in a separate block. We had one of the upstairs units. We had a large bedroom with a huge bed on a slightly elevated platform. In front of this and facing the window was a large sofa. There was also an armchair, writing desk and walk in dressing/luggage area with a small sink...

We stayed in a standard room for 3 days. We enjoyed it very much. The room was small, like a standard motel room and the view was outstanding. The bathroom was teeny. The bed was comfy, the pillows, like everywhere, very hard! The service, the free guided nature walks, the common areas and the surroundings were really first class. The...

Our stay at Wilderness Lodge was a wonderful experience. Greg and Nicola (sp?) are perfect, gracious, lovely hosts, and the food was great! But, the first thing you should know is that this lodge is in the wilderness. It is a beautiful drive from Christchurch with the last half of the drive through the mountains on a very twisty, windy...

This was our favourite place in South Island. Great for walkers of all abilities from those who want a shorter walk or a full day hike from the door. Good choice of self guided walks or walks with their guide for a fee. There are 2 included walks in the package, one of which is the sheep farm visit which...

Wonderful people, both guests and staff! I treasure the memory of star gazing in the meadow. Farm presentation with lots of interesting merino industry stuff, of course wth a sheep being sheared. Great hiking trails on the huge property and also in the national park. Delicious food.

Remote location - no phone signal. Excellent walking area. Comfortable, modern spacious accommodation. Friendly helpful staff. Our booking was on a DB&B basis as there are no other eateries in the area. Meals were well cooked, however service between each course took 30 mins. The diningroom is on 2 levels and we found it very noisy and difficult to hear...

Wilderness Lodge is rated in the world top 10 for this kind of experience, deservedly so. The setting is remote and magnificent and the lodge blends in beautifully, but it's lovely design extends to all living spaces and service is excellent. The managers are so friendly and helpful from the moment you arrive. There are many free nature activities plus...

Gorgeous views, fantastic people. Smaller intimate setting, met a number of people from around the world. Excellent meals which were served at tables with mixing the guests (if you wanted which we did) so you got a chance to meet and talk to other guests in a comfortable setting. Greg the manager was very personable and helpful, staff was excellent...
