Detailed Reviews
Stayed here after visiting Arthur’s Pass for one night. The rooms were huge and spotlessly clean. The views from our bedrooms were incredible with the mountain backdrop and the star gazing at night was beautiful. Keep in mind that this is a b&b so there is no restaurant or bar but we knew that so ate at the hotel a 15 minute lovely drive away. Continual Breakfast was nice with a good choice of bread for toast and fruit and coffee. A couple of things probably could have been improved - check in is quite strict from 3pm-6pm - would have been great if we could have checked in later and upstairs in the lounge there were some big flies around but I know this is hard to stop! Overall would highly recommend this b&b.

Fantastic room and views. Idilic surroundings. Great service from the management when we were trying to organise emergency flights back to the UK. Little or no mobile coverage in the area so their help was critical in allowing us to contact the airline and move our flights, especialy as it took 4.5 hrs on their personal extended range mobile phone.

Grasmere is stunningly beautiful-bounded by mountains and the lake, with a collection of accommodation options. We stayed in the Mountainview Villa which was the most well appointed room with ensuite I’ve ever stayed in. Beautiful decor, welcoming staff, and a world class location on a working farm with mountain walks immediately accessible. We will be back.

About 20 mins drive from Arthur's Pass, but in a much more spectacular location. Beautiful view, spotless huge rooms with all mod cons and more. A well-appointed communal kitchen (remeber to stock up before coming).

Fantastic Hosts That would do anything to help, including leaving us to do our own thing!! Big roaring fire in the Lounge, and beautifully designed rooms, all in an amazing setting. The countryside is just plain breathtaking- no other way to describe it really. We’ll be back there again

Grasmere Lodge--- what I would do to be there right now! There aren't enough kind words I can say about this place and their staff! Having stayed in a number of the Small Luxury Hotels in New Zealand and Australia on our recent trip, this one is by far the best in many aspects.
Grasmere is located about 90 minutes outside of Christchurch in the middle of tranquility-- a perfect place to relax and enjoy the untouched New Zealand beauty. The views from the River View Cottage are absolutely amazing and it is worth every penny to stay there. At night, you can see every star in the sky and during the day, you can just sit and stare out of the huge picture windows in awe!
Vicki Newbegin and Tom Butler, the general manager, and their staff go above and beyond to make sure your every want and desire are attended to, often before you even ask. Their kindess and attention to detail set their establishment apart from others. Visiting with them is like visiting old friends!
Joanna runs the spa and gives the deepest tissue massage I have had in a long time; she gets all of your kinks out! If only she wasn't so far away...
Scott was our chief when we were there and we miss him and his creations dearly! Fine Dining is a guarantee at Grasmere.
My fiance and I chose Grasmere as the location of our wedding and I couldn't have picked better . My family members and I fell in love with New Zealand and we have Grasmere to thank for so many wonderful memories. We will be back =)

We stayed 2 nights. We thought this was a superb place. We were upgraded into the cottage. Although 5 minutes from the main lodge, the cottage was stunning - large and superbly appointed with views into valleys that are to die for. Great common areas as well: welcoming lounge and well-stocked bar.
The food was consistently superb and the communal aspect of dining (which we'd been nervous about) turned out to be fine. The service was great and the tour of the property and farm great fun. We also went on a guided hike with Steve that was a real highlight of our stay. The massage therapy was the best I've experienced.
The Arthurs Pass National Park is beautiful and Grasmere Lodge well located for it. All in all we can't praise this place enough.

We were recommended to this lodge as it was ment to be one of the best in canterbury,
The location is absolutely amazing and the property and accommodation is flawless in presentation
However the food is tasteless bland and a real Disappointment! Regarding a shot glass of Sobert a dish ( one of the four included in the meal ) is a complete rip off
The bathroom did not have underfloor heating Or was broken the fan heater in the bathroom also did not work and this was disappointing as the 3 days we spent at Grasmere the weather was very cold.
The bed was comfortable and had beautiful linen.
Our sleep in was ruined at 7.45am with a helicopter landing not less then 25 meters from the front of all the lodge rooms and stayed running for about 15 mins while picking up a group of guest that had the whole lodge caring for them over the priority of other guest and this came up in conversation with other guest at breakfast and lunches as the were at time waiting periods for longer than 60-70 mins after being seated for food to come to the table!
When speeding $4000 in total for our stay at Grasmere we are sad to say and not alone as two other couples felt the same that we would not recommend or be returning which we feel really sorry as it truely is a magic setting to be if not the best but one of the best lodgesin NZ.
