Bayview Hotel's prime location garners high praise for its easy access to the North Coast and breathtaking sea vistas. Guests are delighted by the exceptional service provided by the warm and efficient staff, as well as the enjoyable dining experience. The hotel's amenities, including the picturesque sea views from spotless, well-maintained rooms, contribute to its allure.
While the atmosphere is often commended for its live pianist and family-friendly environment, opinions on value vary, with some guests noting additional costs. Nonetheless, the spacious rooms with their scenic views are a highlight, despite occasional noise concerns.

Detailed Reviews
This was the first time I have stayed at the Bayview and I was very impressed at the cleanliness throughout the hotel and the standard of the room. I stayed in Superior Ocean view room and highly recommend this if you enjoy waking up to a beautiful seaview.
The restaurant was spotless, tables well spaced and staff were very welcoming. I have a few dietary needs and the chef was very willing to support these and advise on suitable dishes or prepare to suit me. I am very grateful for this support and I was not made to feel that I was causing any inconvenience to them.
I felt that for the price of an overnight stay, the food could have been of a higher standard. It was pretty average and I would recommend a stay at the Bayview based on location, cleanliness and helpfulness of staff rather than the food.
All in all I had an enjoyable time and thank you to all the staff at the hotel.

My son and I are just back from another great trip to the North Coast and a stay in the fantastic Bayview Hotel in Portballintrae. The hotel have put all appropriate measures in place to make guests feel comfortable and protected during the current health crisis. A non invasive temperature check is in place for everyone entering the hotel, there are sanitisation stations throughout and glass screens have been put in place where required between tables in the restaurant. While the buffet breakfast is still in place it is table service only, which enables social distancing and means I didn't manage to overeat, too much!
On arrival we were upgraded to a seaview room, much to mine and my son's delight. The room was well equipped with all we needed during our stay and had an incredible view across the bay.
Food in the Porthole Restaurant was delicious as usual and they catered to all the needs of a fussy 7 year old! Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff.
We've already booked our next stay, hopefully the weather will be a little kinder next time 😊

We have known of this little hotel for years and it was always a port of call for a family lunch or dinner when we stayed in a rented house as a large family. . This time the two of us stayed in a room overlooking the little harbour.
From when we entered the hotel until left the premises and service were superb. The staff are really helpful and due to the Coronavirus scare at the moment there are hand wash sterilisers around the hotel.. They also seemed to have trained their staff well as their cleaning and hygiene procedures were excellent.
From the food to the service the quality and ambience was excellent.
We honestly can't wait to return and are sorry it took us so long to discover this hotel properly. They all work very hard for their well deserved good reputation.

We have just returned from an overnight stay at The BayView Hotel and from start to finish our experience was positive. Our temperature was taken on arrival and all efforts made to ensure safe passage during these difficult times with sanitisers evident and screens and masks being used consistently. The hotel was spotless and in beautiful condition. Our evening meal was very enjoyable and staff very attentive. We were greeted most personably by the charming owner at breakfast and again the waiting staff were efficient and helpful and the meal was very enjoyable . The views are stunning and the decor especially in the bar and dining area just as stunning. We had a small problem with our car and the owner was so helpful and attentive in aiding resolving this issue. Over and above in hospitality- we left happy and wanting to return ( or in my case stay longer :) .

Fantastic stay at this hotel.
I had booked a three night stay for myself and husband. The view overlooking the bay was fantastic.
Our Covid passes were checked on arrival and our rooms were sanitised so felt really safe. All staff wearing masks and guests all wore masks while walking round hotel.
There is a lovely fire to sit round while enjoying a coffee or glass of wine.
Staff very friendly and nothing was to much trouble.
We ate in the restaurant every night and there was a great choice of dishes, can recommend the fillet steak. The portions are very generous.
Great choice for breakfast.
We will definitely be back,

This evening we had a really lovely meal in the Bay View Hotel. Concerned about going out with rise in Covid everywhere the Management have done a great job, one way in and one way out. Facial recognition temperature checkon way in and hand sanitiser everywhere with tables well spaced in very clean and comfortable surroundings. We had the platter to share for 2 as our starter followed by salt & chilli scampi, lightly crumbed and so fresh and tasty with amazing triple cooked chips. No room for pud but so completely satisfied in a comforting way with 2 courses. We go here every year for my birthday and the friendly helpful staff and beautiful food made it. Thank you to all 😊

On arrival our temperature was checked and we were requested to use hand gel before entering the hotel. There is hand gel on every floor and inside the lift. Also before dining you are requested to use it before entering the restaurant part. The hotel is taking every necessary precaution to protect both their guests and staff.
The receptionists Fiona and Jolene were very pleasant and we got a warm welcome and felt valued.
Our room was on the third floor overlooking Portballintrae harbour which was beautiful. Our room was stunning and exceptionally clean. The bed is the most comfortable I have slept in for years (would nearly check-in just for a sleep). The bathroom had a jacuzzi bath and overhead shower which we could not fault.
We dined in the restaurant and again we thoroughly enjoyed our meal which we felt was 5* food. The staff are very attentive and professional.
We live not far from this hotel but will definitely be staying in it again hopefully very soon.

We usually visit N.Ireland regularly but this year has been different with a few trips cancelled due to Covid19. Fortunately, we did visit in August and had an evening out at the Bayview. We had to enter at the back of the hotel and were greeted by friendly faces. After having a temperature check and hands sanitised, we were shown to a table in the bar area whilst we waited for our drinks and dining table to be ready. Although the restaurant was busy, social distancing rules were being observed. The staff were very friendly and efficient, serving delicious food. A very enjoyable evening.

We have just returned from a one night B&B break here. Our first visit and hopefully not our last! We opted for a sea view and it was spectacular listening to the sea. The room was very cosy and well furnished with table and chairs by the window. Coffee machine, snacks, dressing gowns etc. Jet bath and ritual toiletries. We were first down for breakfast at 8am so had the restaurant to ourselves for first 40 minutes just sitting by the window watching the waves. Very much enjoyed being served a cooked breakfast, cafetiere coffee and not having to make our own toast! Were given a mini box of Lily O'Brien chocs on checking out - a nice touch. Enjoyed a few Guinnesses in the bar after a long walk in the wind and rain. Ate in the restaurant later in the evening. Only disappointment there was that we had requested a window seat when making the booking a few weeks before our visit and fair enough were told this could not be guaranteed but would be noted. When in the bar earlier in the evening I asked if it would be possible and again they said it depended. Ultimately we didn't get offered a window seat but at least we got it for breakfast! I thought the sirloin steak was maybe a little overpriced considering it only came a scattering of tobacco onions and nothing else - no chips or veg. Also slightly disappointed after ordering a dessert to have the waiter come back and few minutes later to say they had none left. A good restaurant should be able to warn customers they may be running low on a dish. But these few issues didn't ruin our enjoyment and maybe next time we will have better luck. The staff are all very pleasant and chatty which is lovely. A very relaxing night away.

The Bayview is located in the somewhat desolate town of Portballintrae, sadly consisting entirely of holiday homes with no centre, heart or soul, but a lovely bay and gorgeous sandy (no swimming) beach that leads to the Giants Causeway.A very smart, clean and bright interior to the restaurant complimented by excellent staff gave great first impressions. A stunning view over the bay of the sea completed the picture. Drinks took a while to arrive but food arrived promptly. Overall portions were small, and little thought given to presentation. Flavours were very good, my peppered chicken was tasty, though needed an extra portion of sauce. Garlic potatoes didn’t taste of garlic and were dry. The Gnocci portion was mean and didn’t come with any sauce, and required the addition of an excellent house salad to make them palatable. The custard served with dessert was very lumpy, a replacement jug was a bit better. All mains were around £12-13 which is slightly on the high side for what was served. Actual value was more around £9-10 tops. If the food was improved, varied, presented better and made more generous in portion then it’d match the lovely view, ambience and service but at the moment, the food is the least best thing about the Bayview.

Thank you so much for your constructive review which is very helpful. The remote or ‘desolate’ location as you put it is the very thing that attracts people to this location. Many of my customers enjoy escaping from busy locations; they don’t want thriving nightclubs and congested amusement centres. As you correctly state, the ‘lovely bay’ and local scenery is what they come to enjoy. I am disappointed that you were not entirely satisfied with the food. Obviously, I do not see every dish that leaves the kitchen, but I can confirm that those I do observe are always well presented and the majority of customers enjoy eating in our restaurant. Many go as far to leave positive reviews and even post pictures of the meals which are presented to them. If anyone in this hotel is not happy with their food I would just ask that they speak to a member of staff, or myself. Customer satisfaction is our priority at all times and I would certainly want to be notified if there is anything that could be improved. I can only repeat that the majority of our reviews are positive and hence, present an accurate account of how people feel about this hotel.

Don't understand the question. We stayed for a week
yes i think it would be quite there really is not much to do in the area maybe if you contact the hotel they may be more helpful good luck.
Hi, we usually have different entertainment on Saturday nights throughout the year from about 10pm to 12 midnight, please contact reception on 02820734100 to enquire about the entertainer during your visit,
Kind Regards, Trevor and Team Bayview
Our room didn't have a balcony but the views from the restaurant is excellent and made up for not having a balcony. We were very lucky with the weather and saw a beautiful sunset over the bay. It was also nice enough to enjoy an evening walk.
