Our travel company booked us into this venue that while central to most things is not the best haven for those looking for a good stay. Amateur built furnishings, very small and cramped bedrooms and a similar sized bathroom with an even smaller loo did not reflect value in the room tariff. Noisy co tenants on two consecutive nights till 0330 on one night and visits by the local constabulary on another, further eroded our evaluation of this venue. Go elsewhere is our recommendation.

On the first of two nights staying in a studio unit our room was entered while we were asleep and all our money and a ring were taken. Scary stuff! The only security on the door was a push in button on the handle which we ensured was engaged before we retired for the night. Staff at reception were not very sympathetic, said that we couldn't have locked the door, said that the lock had recently been changed and that there had been a lot of 'trouble' along Riccarton Road. We made a report to the police but they did not come to see us. On the Saturday morning a small security chain was attached to the door - too little too late. Staff did not come to see us, did not enquire if we were OK and on checking out did not offer any concern or help with payment of the account. The unit was 'tired', especially the kitchen and bathroom area and, what with the lack of empathy and security, at this stage we would not consider staying there again.

Beds are clean, but the building is a bit old.
We booked through expedia.co.nz, and the room rate was $95. Given the current off peak circumstance, due to the earthquake, the place in our opinion was overpriced, for its 3.5 stars qualmark. We also stayed in another 4.5 stars qualmark motel not far away, and it only costed $10 more, and provided milk, free airport shuttle, and much better hardware.
Location is very convenient however, about 10 min walking to the Ricarrton mall, by the main bus route.

We used this motel after arriving late at night in Christchurch, prior to hiring a car the following day. On reflection it ended up costing us more than if we had just stayed onsite at the airport (in the Sudima) as we spent $60 to get to and from the motel. Bear that in mind if it is just a stopover place and you don't have your own transport.
In terms of accommodation I have no complaints, the apartment was very welcome after the late flight and had everything we needed plus more. I can't comment in depth here as we only stayed one night.
